How to create a free internet radio station?

Ok so, i have tried shoutcast but they kind of lost me at the server part. I didn't understand how to use it and i am a really computer savvy person. So what is the easiest way to create a free internet radio station that the public can listen to? I am thinking of a station that plays music. Or a comedy sation.

1. To make it available all the time? That means you have to have a server running all the time. IMHO the easiest way is to take some old computer from the closet that wont rn the latest greatest windows games anymore, load free linux on it, load free radio streaming software on it, and let it share your internet connection
