What does a radio personality use to broadcast live from the scene of something?

ie what equipment besides a mic.

1. a transmitter. Usually in the van or truck with the thingie circling around and pointing up at the sky on top of the vehicle--that's the transmitter.
2. You may have seen one of their vans at a sporting event or something big locally. It is usually a standard sized van or small step van equipped w generator for power & a transmitter w associated monitoring equipment. The large "thingee" w wires wrapped around it that protrudes from the top of the van is the antenna, which is raised when actually transmitting for better range quality.
3. A tape recorder and a bottle of RUM.
