Why is the online broadcast of Radio 3 a few seconds *ahead* of the "live" radio broadcast and ...?
...will someone tell me when the engineers have sorted the gremlins out!

- The equipment use to translate the radio signal to the Internet signal takes a little time. Also, the commercials can't be played online because of contractual problems with the announcers, music rights and a host of other bother. So the local station has to cut-away to play its scheduled commercials and avoid them playing on the Internet. Added up, it's takes a few seconds. Most stations have software that does all this automatically, some try to do it manually. Hope this answers your question.
- Jus the time delay it takes your signal to get to you radio that all!!!......
- online is digital which is far faster then analog which is what a normal radio gets in the house or a car via a aerial regards x Kitti x
- Most radio stations have a 5 or 7 second delay that way if any profanities or any material not suitable for air can be dumped and never actually reach the ears of the listeners. You can thank the FCC for that.
