How is it possible to to have a live TV/Radio Broadcast's Showtime be the same for all Time Zones in the U.S?

For example The radio broadcast of the famous love line has the home station KROQ-FM in Los Angeles. but where brodcast live it always starts at 10:00 pm The Famous TV Show American Idle when Brodcast live it is At the same time in every time zone how is this possible what is there like a time warp device or somthing because the new years eve party in times square NY,NY is not brodcast at the same time in every time zone when seen live it is at different times

1. Nothing is actually live they have a delay of about 5 second delay on pretty much everything. Even the superbowl. The only thing I think the only thing that is live is new years
2. It's not possible. The New Year's Eve programs are seen live in the Eastern time zone and delayed for each of the others. Shows like American Idol (not Idle) are shown live in the Eastern and Central time zones and delayed for Mountain and Pacific. So, yes it's possible for someone in LA to call someone in Dallas and ask who won before the show is aired in LA.
