Old Time Radio Broadcasts? Where or how can I find a radio station that has some of the great old time heros of yesterday? When I was a teenager, I used to listen to "The Green Hornet", "Gang Busters", Mystery Theater", "The Shadow", "Lone Ranger". Even James Stewart who later went on to become one of our most famous big screen actors, got his start in radio with a show called, I believe, "The Jeromie Kid" or something like it. He really made ya feel like you were there. By the way, I have checked the local listing of radio stations in the newpapers (San Francisco), can't find anything.
old time radio copyright laws ? the copyright has run out on a lot of old time radio broadcasts...i need to find out if that includes the music and sound effects. if anyone can point me in the right direction to look this up, it would really help me out. thank you for looking.
Where can I download South African Old Time Radio Programs in MP3 format (not online broadcasts)? I am not looking for a Live365 broadcasting station. I am look for a page like the archived link below: http://web.archive.org/web/20031119173831/http://www.rlsuth.com/ Springbok Radio was a South African radio network that existed from 1950 to 1985. It was a bilingual station (English/Afrikaans) . Springbok was said to be twenty years behind its time, which was a good thing. South Africa didn't get television until 1976! There are sites in which one or two Springbok shows can be downloaded. The link above has been offline for quite some time now. The site had many shows which are impossible to find now. I know the sites that have only one or two shows already. And I have used a search engine. Don't make me look stupid. I am looking for a DEDICATED site like the one above. Thank you for your respect. I have all the shows from OTR Cat. I am looking for more.
How do I make an audio recording sound like old-time radio? I want to make an audio recording sound like it's coming through an old, old radio. Can anyone recommend a good program/effect/method? Essentially, I'd like to record a sound-bite, then put a filter on it that makes it sound like the original broadcast of Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" broadcast.
What is it called when there is a historical imprint on time? Ie: hearing sounds from years before.? The other night my wife and I both heard what sounded like an old time radio broadcast for a split second, we both heard a male voice loud and clear. I remember reading about some men walking on the beach in normandy many years after WW2 and they swore they heard gunfire and stuff. Any idea what the technical term is and where I can find more info?
When did KNX 1070, in Southern CA, get rid of their old time radio segment? Shows like Gunsmoke, and The lone ranger... Im sure it was KNX 1070... they no longer broadcast these classics?
What was the title of this old radio broadcast? It aired on New years eve in the 50's or 60's I imagine, and it was about this guy who pawned his wife's ring because he owed some guys some money, And he got this stop watch that let him go back in time and forward in time. So he went forward in time and it took him to the 32nd of December, (which doesn't exist) And the watch broke, so he was stuck. And for the life of me, I can't figure out what the title was. Has anyone heard it before?
How do I become a drive-time radio chuckler? How do I become a drive-time radio chuckler? One of those people who chuckles at unfunny, witless verbal exchanges on the radio? Tell me I don't actually have to go to broadcasting school to be one of those idiots on the radio who sit around and talk about mundane inanities, and the various levels and categories of toilet humor, rip off Howard Stern with no bravery and no originality, and, worst of all, force some of the most fake laughter whenever someone says anything, and generally act like a junior high school student even though most of them have been playing musical chairs / revolving doors up and down the radio dial for 1/4 of a century and must be pushing 50 years old. The fake laughter sounds so forced. Like someone’s aiming a gun at them and ordering them to laugh. I especially love listening to the radio for awhile and imagine that there are two people talking because that’s how many voices I hear, when all of the sudden, I hear a third voice, and then I hear more and more voices overlapping in the conversation and about half a dozen people chiming in and laughing uproariously over some stuff that's not even funny when you can make out what they're saying in a contrived, choreographed party like a bunch of the DJ's friends just walked into the studio with some wine and good cheer, and I'm supposed to be partying hardy with them vicariously in my car, stuck in traffic, breathing exhaust fumes. Sorry about the sentence-graphs. P.S. Death to Nelson in Portland, Oregon!
Old 9/11 radio broadcast with a man talking as if he was at the twin towers? One year at school our teacher had us lay our heads on our desks and listen to this radio broadcast that used to play. I remember that there was a man talking throughout it and it was like he was watching the terror (ex. He said something like, "The woman called her child, knowing it was the last time she would hear their voice." or "Smoke filled the building and people ran from their offices.") I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was about 5 minutes long and my teacher said that it used to play on the radio frequently as a memorial. It was not a reporter. There was soft music in the background. He talked slowly. It was a memorial, not a report.
Does anybody know where I can find old copies of Radio Times (like their archive)? I am looking for a TV programme that was broadcast around 1988/89 on (BBC One), a period drama about women in the 2nd world war (women in the French Resistance) and so far no luck in finding any information so I want to physically look through old TV Times or something like that. Any idea where I can go?
Radio signals? Okay, so last Saturday i was sitting in my room surfing the net on my computer at about 2 a.m. and i started to hear voices. I immediately though it must either be my radio alarm clock or my computer, i turned the volume off on my speakers and it still played, so i went over and checked my alarm, it too was off. The sound was still playing, it was some sort of christian mumbo-jumbo preaching crap. I looked all over my room for any electronics that could play it with no success before finally realizing the sound was coming from my (Turned off) computer speakers. I have satelite internet so i'm curious if maybe i am intercepting signals from radio broadcasts or something or other, if thats possible... But it still happens from time to time since saturday. Everyday at random times i hear radio broadcasts (usually a few days old) from around the world. I heard some from netherlands, germany, and russia last night. I'm curious, what could possibly be causing this? Out of space, will add mor I went into my brothers room and plugged some speakers into his computer to see if it worked on his computer too, and it in fact did. He was picking up classical music. Keep in mind these signals are usually so quiet you wouldnt normally hear them unless you were listening with the speaker to your ear. But at times they get loud and you can hear them clearly. To the first answer: I live near Rolla, Missouri. And it has been extremely windy and there have been storms lately, this may be a part of the cause.
Whenever you hear about our TV and Radio Broadcasts leaking out to space...? you hear that inhabitants of far-off planets will be able to tune in to old shows, depending on how many light years away they reside. However, if you're so far away, wouldn't the "noise" from the sun itself overpower any radio signals from Earth should you happen to be pointing an antenna in that direction? I work for a cable company, and twice a year, around the equinoxes, we lose signal on each of our channels for about 10 minutes or so (not at the exact same time for each channel, so it's rare that many people would notice) while the path the signal takes from the satellite to our dishes is in a direct line with the sun. This is due to solar interference. Wouldn't the exact phenomenon occur from a greater distance? Furthermore, could this be any reason why SETI has been unsuccessful in finding evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence to date?
Are we running out of time before aliens arrive? There is an old saying that goes something like “The birds never sing when a cat is around.” Sometimes being heard is not desirable, especially when there’s someone or something around that would potentially do you harm. Well, us humans have been broadcasting radio waves for over 100 years, meaning that any aliens within 100 light years could have possibly heard us, since radio waves travel at the speed of light (they are light waves). We’ve been ‘singing’ for quite some time now, and some of the aliens might not have noticed, and others might not be hostile, but I wonder if any ‘cats’ might have heard us. Are we sitting on a ticking time bomb? My thought on this subject would be for us to technologically advance as quickly as possible, so that we will be as prepared as possible.

Should i change my party theme? Im turning 21 in six months and have put an awful lot of effort (and money) into my party. Now i may be 20 but I'm an old fashioned gal at heart. My friend went for a 20's theme so i decided to go for a 40's war time theme. It all seemed fantastic at the time and i was flowing with ideas, however i have this one friend who is known for sticking her oar in and making an issue out of everything. She revels in maintaining an air of superiority and putting others down, and so when she expressed her opinion on my choice of theme i chose to ignore her, but now im worried. What do you do with a 40's theme? War time of course, we have bunting and war posters and are planning on setting the scene using old radio broadcasts etc. Its called 'The Blitz' Most people are fine but she seems to think this is 'sick' What do you think?

Space and Time Question? Please help me understand this... Lets say that we have invented a space ship that travels at the speed of light... We also invent a transmitter that uses tachyons or some other technology that allows realtime communication between Earth and the ship. The ship travels away from the Earth at the speed of light. On Earth we use the transmitter to broadcast a 24/7 radio station and every hour, the "Earth" date/time is broadcasted. I have heard a theory that a ship traveling at light speed for 14 years (to reach the nearest star outside of our solar system) and then returning back to Earth another 14 years later, would arive to an Earth that is 50,000 years older but for those on the ship, only 28 years would have passed. The radio broadcast date and time would only reveal that 28 years had passed correct? All this assumes no wormholes were used of course.
Supernatural occurrence? My house is two stories plus a basement. My brother was upstairs in his room alone while everybody else was asleep, playing Xbox 360. The way everything in the room is setup is as follows: There is a tv setup in the middle of the room against a wall, with a desk and another, smaller tv in the corner about 2 feet from the tv. We have a PS2 hooked up to the larger tv and a 360 hooked up to the smaller tv. His desktop computer is hooked up to the smaller tv. There are speakers connected to the computer. The computer was not on at all since yesterday afternoon. You can tell whether or not it's on because it's see-through and red LCD lights come on when it turns on. The speakers have a green light whenever they are on. He says that he was playing a game on the xbox (audio comes out of the tv)when the speakers clicked on and there was an old radio broadcast. He says it was like the Hindenburg or old Hitler recordings, where it's poor quality where you can't understand anything they're saying, and it has a lot of static. (I'm not saying that it was the Hindenburg broadcast, but it was something of similar sound and quality.) The computer was not on. The speakers were connected to a power strip and the computer only. Another time, about a week ago, he was playing on the Xbox and I was playing the PS2 hooked up to the other tv. He suddenly paused the game, looked at me, and asked, "Did you hear that?" I asked what he meant and he said he heard somebody scream "Mikey!" (his name is Michael) The only person who calls him "Mikey" is his friend who we saw the next day, who said she was nowhere near our house that day. I also have memories which may or may not be connected to this. I remember being terrified of going upstairs as a child because I thought "somebody was there." I still don't feel right going up there alone at night. This all started when I was around age 6. I'm now 14 and my brother is 24. He moved out around age 21 and just came back a month or two ago because he couldn't afford his own place. Is this just a string of occurrences or can it be explained? I was just re-reading this, and I'm sorry if I went into too much detail with the setup for the room... Neither of us drinks or does drugs.
What is the name of this movie? I don't recall much about it, but I saw it on TV about seven years ago. At the time, my family didn't have cable or satellite, so it was either seen on Fox, ABC, or (unlikely) a local channel. That doesn't mean it was produced by either station, though. The storyline revolved around a son and a father. The father had died of lung cancer, but when he was alive he and his father had a strained relationship. One day, the son finds an old radio of his father's, and attempts to use it. The discovers a man on the other end, but the man claims to be his father, about twenty years into the past. The son doesn't believe the story at first, but when his father accidently burns a part of his desk and the burn mysteriously appears in the future with the son watching, they come to the realization that the radio can broadcast through time. After that, I don't remember very much of the storyline. The son tries to fix things, and insists that the father stop smoking so he won't get lung cancer. The son also tries to warn his father against a burglar/murderor that comes into their house, who (I think) kills the mother. The father prevents it, but the burglar/murderor goes to prison or gets away...can't remember which. Time passes through the movie, but this event eventually comes back to bite them, namely the son. The burglar/murderor, seeking revenge (From his time in prison, I believe) attempts to kill the son. The son is almost shot, but the father reappears in the future, aged but alive. He stopped smoking, and thus prevented his lung cancer, which enabled him to save his son in the future. The murderor/burglar is brought to justice, and the movie ends. Anyone know what the movie is? It looked like it was a TV movie, but I can't be sure... Addition: Thanks to those who answered my question. I've been googling and searching for this movie, so I finally gave up and asked via Yahoo. The plot is slightly different than I remembered, but I was about eight the one time I watched it... I would vote/decide for someone to have the best answer, but to the first I'm too low leveled and to the second I haven't figured out how. Sorry. : (
Medical Question about: Primary Immunodeficiency disease? A friend of a friend had informed me of a child age 11 that has been sick many many times and I was wondering through a radio broadcast... I would like detailed answers and web address phone numbers I can call please. A Worried Friend!

Cannot get AM radio in my house anymore? I live in a 50 year old house, and the electricity shut down in my entire neighborhood, including my house about 2 weeks ago. It was off for about 2 hours, and then was restored. Since that time, I cannot get most AM radio stations within my house, except for the 2 most powerful stations in the Dallas, TX area . I get the same intereference using AC and battery-powered radios. FM works fine, and all I get on most AM stations is loud interference, possibly hearing the garbled broadcast behind all the interference. Does anyone know what happened, and whether I can fix it?
Where can I find the old (1970s) Bournvita Quiz contest (India) song in mp3? I want to listen to that Bournvita Quiz contest song that was played before, during and after the contest during 70s and 80s sundays on radio in India. I do not think video exists for that song since it was broadcast on radio at that time. It was a very popular song which ends with "with Bournvita". Please let me know where to find that song and also the the song played during Suchitra's Horlicks play.
All’s Fair in Love and Talk Radio? All’s Fair in Love and Talk Radio Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.), caused a stir recently when she criticized talk radio for its role in stopping the recent immigration bill. Talk radio, she lectured, “pushes people to . . . extreme views without a lot of information.” Feinstein then went on to suggest that it might be time to bring back the “Fairness Doctrine, repealed in 1987, that mandated private radio stations devote time to all points of view during discussion of controversial topics. Unfortunately, Feinstein chose Orwellian logic to make her point: “I remember when there was a fairness doctrine, and I think there was much more serious correct reporting to people.” One wonders what Feinstein meant by “correct.” Correct to whom? Democratic senators, a government auditor or New York Times editors? Aside from the central issue of stifling free speech, there are a number of things wrong with Sen. Feinstein’s desire to have the government arbitrate what is “fair” and “correct” on your car radio. Talk radio is as much entertainment as political opinion. It lives or dies by ratings. Those who master the genre — with off-the-wall jokes, mimicry, satire, and bombast — prosper and get their political message across. Those who can’t, don’t. Had liberal talk show hosts of the past, like an Al Franken, Jerry Brown, or Mario Cuomo, won far more listeners than Rush Limbaugh, one suspects that Sen. Feinstein would see little need for new laws. And we would probably now be spared the present sour-grapes cries about fairness. The government is already in the broadcasting business with National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service. Despite conservative whining about the leftwing biases of these two institutions, fortunately no one has succeeded in having their broadcasts monitored or in demanding equal time on them for all views. More importantly, for reasons that are not entirely clear, liberals and conservatives tend to excel in different genres of American media. Most successful political radio talk shows are in fact conservative. On the other hand, humorous political TV spoofs, like Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, Bill Maher’s Real Time, or The Colbert Report, tend to have a liberal bias. Similarly, the major networks — CBS, NBC, and ABC — are liberal bastions. So are most of our motion pictures and documentaries. The most prestigious and oldest grant-giving foundations — Rockefeller, Ford, MacArthur, and Guggenheim — are liberal leaning. Likewise are the majority of universities, from the most prestigious, like Harvard, to the largest, such as the California State University system. Yet, do we want a counter-editorial to everything a Katie Couric chooses to present as news at dinnertime? Or should we demand that Republicans match Democratic numbers on college faculties, or as graduation speakers and grant recipients? Should conservatives be provided an equal-time trailer at the end of Fahrenheit 9/11 or Syriana? The truth is that savvy Americans navigate well enough on their own through our various partisan genres. Liberals flip through the New York Times, tune into NPR on the way to work, and rave about a movie or documentary damning the Iraq war. Conservatives call into Rush or Hannity, check blogs for their news, and watch Bill O’Reilly on cable. There is a sort of irony in the debate over talk radio. Of all our media, it is perhaps the most populist. A radio host requires neither a journalism degree nor political connections. He just needs sheer talent. The unforgiving market — judged by how many turn the dial to your show or call in with questions — alone adjudicates success. Liberals who profess affinity for the little guy should welcome this prairie-fire revolt against the more highbrow New York Times, CBS News, or NPR. Finally, is the new politicking on radio any different from what goes on, in subtler fashion, elsewhere? Liberal media do not consider themselves biased, since selecting what story appears on the front page or leads the evening network news is far more nuanced partisanship than a Michael Savage screaming about the latest liberal transgression. Yet that does not mean that Walter Cronkite’s famous on-air declaration that the Vietnam War could not be won was any less political. Or how about Dan Rather’s pre-election assurances that a forged memo about George Bush’s National Guard service was authentic? Rather than promoting government audit of our opinion media, liberals should master talk radio and cable news. And conservatives should work harder at providing counter-voices in Hollywood, on the campuses, and amid the major networks and newspapers. Then let the best men and women win in the free arena of ideas and entertainment.
Name of another Song? Thank for the answers on the other questions guys, but I thought maybe I could have been still more specific, since you guys were going in the wrong direction. So: I am pretty good at finding the name of a song by typing lyrics, etc. if i don't remember the title. But there's this one song, and I just can't seem to find it. When I lived in Sydney, it came pretty often in the radio, I think the station was called 101.7 WSFM. It's a radio station that broadcasts old songs, I'm assuming it's from the 70s or 80s. All I remember is one part, which goes something like "And you had the time of your life", the highest sound and emphasis was on the your, and I have no idea who it could have been sung by. It sounds a bit like meatloaf's or fleetwood mac's voice, and that's all I know about it. And no, IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT BY GREEN DAY OR FROM DIRTY DANCING, I knew those ages ago, its not them. Pleaaase let me know, I want to add it to my iPod! And oh yeah, it's a male voice :) AND no, its not by martin nieveria, or how u spell that, to stop 100s of users from answering it again just for the 2 points. Thanks, though, cinn, at least u tried :) Thanks again Cinn, for saying another song, the only problem is I can't find it on google, youtube, or imeem, or even a 30 second sample from the iTunes store. Could you maybe send a link or say how you got it? I really must thank you though for trying so hard with my poor details! Whoops, I thought it said Burning Bridges rather than Brides, found it! Unfortunately that's not it either :( I think after the lyric Time of your life, or similar, there was something like "Oh, da da da da da da da", the lyric not being da. Oh being kind of a sigh, going down again. Whoops, I thought it said Burning Bridges rather than Brides, found it! Unfortunately that's not it either :( I think after the lyric Time of your life, or similar, there was something like "Oh, da da da da da da da", the lyric not being da. Oh being kind of a sigh, going down again. NEVERMIND I GOT IT!!!!11 :DDDD Its called "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth", i got the lyrics all wrong, but yes its by meatloaf! I love it!!!
Britain has become old Russia...a riddle on a muddled path? What is Britain's direction and what do we stand for now? We are a Communist country with no direction except to exist and follow & spread left-wing laws. The banks and Government are one and the same. The people are brain-washed into fearing Nazi's in film and by BBC news reports and in TV entertainment. Communism has always feared Nazis (Look at yourselves) What are we doing to the BNP while our Government robs the people, controls and spies on us at the same time. A form of Winston Churchill's quotation, made in a radio broadcast in October 1939: "I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest." We are what Russia was to it's people and in our actions and policies around the world. Smells Like NewScreen Names - I've been to Russia and I do feel we have a similar mind-set and policies here. Look around you and tell me how Britain feels to you. Get on a bus and see if people are afraid to talk and are apathetic or hostile to one another. State run moral codes. The masses fed State properganda via TV news, events and entertainment. State policing/judicial that doesn't listen to public opinion and allows criminals to go free. Slow, unhearing buracratic Government and officialdom. Constant fearmongering by BBC news about things that really don't matter:Bird Flu,Weather(grit lorries)Meteorites,BNP,Global Warming. That's Russia.
What do you think about this terrestrial Radio fee that is being discussed in the US? I heard about it on the radio. Said something about Mid-West Family Broadcasting Group being mad about a fee they were going to have to pay. I hate Mid-West Family Broadcasting Group, so I'm pretty bias. Then today, my sister starts preaching the gospel on this radio fee. She tells me she is more smarter than I am, that she is more "in the know". I called her out and she threw a fit. I'm reading all this news. It seem like the radio had it coming. Every other broadcasting system already pays this fee. Strange indeed. Funny thing being, these broadcasting systems that already pay the fee (Internet, Cable & Satellite TV) are better than radio. Much better! I'm still not sure where I stand on this one. My sister ranted some downfall of society. She claimed that "they" were doing it to cripple local businesses, all the music radio stations would be forced to close down, we would be forced to listen to "talk radio propagandist", and the like. Which got me worried. I got mad at her for buying into the initial mind control tactic, that she had been hypnotized into spreading a kind of disillusion fear, that her sunglasses were sending her subliminal messages, and the unfiltered water wasn't exactly 'helping'. I honestly just don't get it. I read that this type of thing should have happened years and years ago. That it's a free market and if the artists own the rights to the song then the Radio should have to pay up. Considering that internet radio and the radio on your TV are a hundred times better, it seems like the old money in radio doesn't want to pay up. I don't know. WHAT SAY YOU? "her" and "you" are nouns. Oh, woops. She didn't say "more smarter" she put it into grammatically correct terms. Hence the lack of quotes. She did say "in the know". I made it bad grammar to express a certain disgust for the accusation. Someone gave you a thumbs up for being cheeky. I respect that. Seriously, someone answer my question... NOW! Instead of reading "Was that her who used the double superlative or you?" All I saw was "Was that her used the double superlative of you?" I read too fast sometimes.

Will the man have a licence to sell these old cassettes? In the town where I live there is this place under the market hall called the market volts. There is this man who has a record shop and sells old records. Recently he has started selling these cassettes that are broadcasts of BBC Radio 1 in the years of 1996, 1997 and 1998. They are essentrail mix mag cassettes and there are hundreds of them which I think may be illegal. If he has a licence through it will be ok as I have bought about 12 of these tapes. I find it very interesting to listen to the old shows of Judge Jules, Carl Cox and Pete Tong when they were big. Most of those tapes are of Radio 1 roadshows at those times.
Do you see NPR and PBS as left leaning? I can hear a lot of left leaning conversation and bias reporting? daily, and have been for 36 years, but I don't think that is reason to terminate them. The good side of it is that they provide an alternative to a lot of false advertising of commercial broadcasting that rival the old snake-oil side shows of the past.. Some of the greatest kids shows, history that fill in some of the gaping holes left by revisionists, and some of the best nostalgia like old radio shows like Fibber McGee and Molly, Amos & Andy, and old WWII news broadcasts, all of it not only historical but educationally factual and some humorous also. Give it more time and more money but with no strings attached, the people that try to push their agenda will either have to identify their position or disappear as the listeners will begin to wise-up to the one sided debauchery!
AM radio station help? what is the AM radio station where it is the old guy that tells the insane news stories, they are just obsurd, like aliens land on earth, if anyone knows of the weekly world news, he just says stories like that. The guy has been doing it for a long time, what is the station that he broadcasts off of?
Why was Old Earth Creationism in the majority for centuries of Christian theologians until recent times? As I've investigated the roots of Creationist theology, it has become clear that the early and late church fathers almost universally assumed that the earth was quite old, just as most of their secular contemporaries who had commendable educational backgrounds. It appears that Young Earth Creationism did not find a large following until Ellen White's prophecies and Seventh Day Adventism teachings became influential in the U.S. Indeed, Whitcomb & Morris' THE GENESIS FLOOD appears to be picking up from where SDA's left off in promoting a new brand of Young Earth creationist theology. Nevertheless, I have found that many YEC ASSUME that young earth theology has been the standard since the time of Christ! So I have wondered, has the growth in popularity in YEC Creationism in the U.S. over the past 50+ years been dependent upon the growing influence of radio and TV Christian ministries (both broadcasts and books)? Or is it more a matter of the growth of Dispensational Theology in the U.S.? (I have also found that even though there are plenty of Old Earth Creationist Christians in the U.S., YEC are virtually alone in considering the age of the earth as a vital doctrine for Bible believing Christians -- while OEC Christians usually consider such questions entirely secondary to matters of faith.)
What should I do with my degree in Broadcast Media? I earned my bachelors in Broadcast Media in 1998. I currently have a job that I am not very happy with. I have tried desperately to find work in radio and tv but every time I do they want me to do an internship. I am 30 years old and have too many bills and no time to work at an unpaid internship with any company. I am willing to work in any field. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do.
Phillies fans: Think they should have kept Scott Graham as an announcer ? I wonder what happened ? Initially, when he started doing radio work for the Phils I was very impressed with Scott Graham. He has a really fine sports broadcasting voice. Then I witnessed, a pre-game interview in the lower level concourse area behind home plate at the old Vet. While interviewing a ball-player I noticed he wasn't even really looking directly at the ball-player he was conducting the interview with. It was like he was just going through the motions. I thought to myself, ..."how fake!" I witnessed other S.Graham interviews & saw the same impersonal style. So, after that, I was no longer a Scott Graham fan. As time went on and he began to get live-game-broadcasting time on the radio, I was turned off by his obvious lame attempt to coin a signature phrase for himself. "Mark up another win ...for the fightin Phils !" after Philly victories. This came off so obviously contrived. A Harry Kalas wanna-be! Harry's didn't seem so intentional, or contrived, ....when it first began.
Radio Ministry? One Sunday morning an old couple was sitting in their rocking chairs, out on their front porch, listening to their favorite radio preacher. "My friends", the preacher said, "if you have an affliction, if you have an infirmity, and you wish to be healed, just send your $10 faith offering to our ministry, in care of this radio station, and next week during our broadcast I will HEAL YOU!!" The old man sent in his $10 and waited... The following Sunday the preacher announced "if you have sent your faith offering, at this time I want you to place your left hand on your radio and your right hand on the afflicted part of your body and I will HEAL YOU!!" The old man set his left hand on the radio and placed his right hand on his crotch. The old woman looked over from her knitting ...."Pa", she told him, "the man said he could heal the sick....He never said nothin' about raising the dead"....
Possible to be an Air Traffic Controller after 31yrs old with only some military experience? So I have gone through a long process up to this point about joining the Air Force. I am married with 2 children so my recruiter had to be able to offer a dependency waiver for me. As long as I scored much higher on the ASVAB than normally required I would be fine. I studied for 3 weeks and got the scores I needed, and they were impressed, even though I thought I could have done better. They said I was open to about 95% of the AF Jobs. My applications and waiver are already sent off and have already conducted the first phone interview with the Flight Chief, and should be hearing from the Commander in another week or so to find out if my dependency waiver is approved. I am interested in Air Traffic Control, but now I am finding out that it is a 6 year commitment instead of a 4, and who knows I might love it, I'm just not sure about signing for 6 years instead of just 4 at first, but right now that's not the issue. I am also now finding out that after I am finished if I only do my 4-6 years that you can't be past your 31st birthday in order to join the FAA and become a civilian Air Traffic Controller, unless you have prior experience, but then everything I read starts talking about retired military ATCer's. I am 26 right now, by the time I go to Basic I will be 27 and would be 33 after 6 years of service, or 31 after 4 years of service. So my question is: Can I join the FAA after age 31 since I have some previous ATC experience, or do I have to be "retired" military, which is 20 years, to join the FAA after age 31? I am so confused and can't find any other info out there, My recruiter says I have a good chance at getting it, that's why i am looking into it more, they said they see about 4-6 openings for this job every month. I am also interested in Cyber Security, Aircraft Loadmaster (although I am not sure this can lead to a great after military career), Graphics Apprentice, Radio & TV Broadcasting, Public Affairs, etc... I know some of those are near impossible to get, but hey I might as well put everything I want down just in case... I know it's stressful, I work better under stress, and I am ready for it. I just need to know for sure if they will waive the age restriction, or it's not worth it. I don't want to go through the training and stress to not be able to use anything I've gained from it in a few years... I'd rather choose a different field then. I called one of the FAA human resource offices, and even they didn't know the answer... Can anyone give me actual proof they will waive it with "some" previous ATC experience, or do I have to be considered "retired"... I trust my recruiter, I met with about 4 different ones and all of them were idiots and caught themselves in their own lies, 2mins into talking with them, mine now has been honest about everything so far, She never told me something wasn't the way it was, we haven't even sat down and talked about jobs that much, I had mentioned this one and she said she see's it a lot. No lies yet, I have been able to confirm everything she has said to this point.
Oversexualized radio? Do you guys think that the songs they are allowed to play on the radio take things too far? I mean, do you think that the songs the play, modern pop and rap especially, are too overtly sexual to be played on a station that can be listened to by the general public? There are a lot of very explicit things that do not get filtered out. To cite just a few of the songs I mean Nickelback's "something in your mouth", Rihanna's "rude boy", and that song "you spin me right round" by Flo Rida are just a few examples of songs that you're two year old child could easily turn on the radio and hear. I've heard one story about a woman's young child singing along to Flo Rida's "you spin me right round", and of course a child that age has no idea that the song is about oral sex. I know how our bus driver in high school always plays the radio while she drives and one time Rihanna's "rude boy" came on and the lyrics to that song even made me blush. I remember being a bit shocked that they deemed that song radio friendly and thinking how I hope the song doesn't come on again when she drives the elementary kids to school on her next route. What do you guys think? Should the radio be allowed to play such overtly sexual and explicit songs to the general public? I mean, we aren't talking about satellite radio or anything, this is regular radio that almost anyone of any age can tune into. And there are times I'll admit that I've been somewhat embarrassed to be riding in the car with my mother listening to the radio because some of the songs that come on are just nasty. Has anyone else on this site that listens to the radio ever been at least a little shocked by what they allow to broadcast on it? I know I can name plenty more examples of songs like these that get played.
What is the name of this old b/w french movie?? sorry for my bad english. I saw this movie 11 years ago on TV. It's Black & White, I think it was in French. Maybe from 60's ? I didn't catch the beginning of the film, following is the plot I remembered: A man drove alone in the countryside. He picked up a beautiful woman on the road, and they traveled together. the radio was continuously broadcasting the news about the police was tracking down a sex criminal. Then the man ask the woman if she was worry about the danger when taking a stranger's car? along the way, the movie constantly implied that the man may be the criminal, and the woman may be in danger, but nothing happened. In the mean time, two police detectives were tracing them behind. There was a scene the man and the woman eating at a restaurant, the restaurant's owner thought they were very suspicious, so he secretly called the police. But when the two detectives arrived, they already gone. The ending was: this couple slept at a hotel, and in the morning when the man woke up, the woman was missing. then the police detectives shown up, they told the man that the woman was a fraud, she slept with strangers and stole their money. and she was arrested when she tried to leave the hotel. Just as detectives were leaving, they found that the man's face looked familiar, but they were not sure if he was the sex criminal. the movie ended here. so can someone help me? thank you! thanks for the help. I remembered that the actress's hair was dark, not blonde. But I will search Brigitte Bardot's work to see If I can find anything.
I was bored and I came up with a book plot. Tell me what you think? Ok, so to start off... A mentally insecure man and his long-time Christian girlfriend book a trip to Canada, to explore the vast wilderness with several other tourists. They fly to Vancouver, and from there, take a Bush Plane with the other tourists North. Being a 60 year old plane, they run into problems, and the pilot crash-lands in the middle of nowhere---Evergreen forest all around, and six of the eleven people on-board die on impact or from injuries later. The remaining five- The man (We shall call Hogar), his girlfriend (Becky), and three others (Bob, Krista, and Scott), are stranded. Hogar makes an attempt to re-wire the radio, so he can call for help. Unfortunatelyy, the circuits are fried. They are all stranded in the wilderness. This is where the group begins to fight. Scott, Krista, and Bob want to search out a town. Hogar thinks he knows the area well, and refuses to believe that as an option, forcing Becky to take his side. Bob and Scott conclude that he's crazy. They confront him, and in a fist-fight, Bob is knocked unconscious, and Hogar steps down. He lets Scott take Bob with him to go out and search for help, but Krista and Becky stay with Hogar, who is obsessed with staying in the relative safety of the airplane. After three days of getting to know one another, Wolves are heard near the crash site. Automatically, Hogar believes that Bob and Scott were killed, and he scours the plane for weapons. He finds an AR-7 rifle inside of one of the floor compartments, and cusses Krista and Becky for not searching for it earlier. That night, wolves come towards the site to investigate the buried remains of the dead tourists and pilot. Hogar kills one with a shot to the eye, and they eat it in the morning. After two more days, Hogar's been a week without meds. His condition begins to take over, and he starts reenacting roles from movies he'd seen. He assumes a new identity, and demands that Krista and Becky follow his every wish. He carves a large knife from a shattered propeller of the bushplane, and cuts up one of the photos that krista has; a photo of Krista with her husband. After long deliberation, Krista confides to Becky that she needs to go, and that wolves might be safer than Hogar's insanity. Becky agrees. Krista decides to leave as Hogar leaves to go Hunting. The thing is. Hogar decides to hunt her, instead. About one mile from the camp, he decides to strike. He begins to chase her through the wilderness and eventually tackles her, and blames her for the plane crashing. Then, a spark of evil grows in his face. THE BOOK THEN pans back to Becky, alone at camp. She is messing with the radio, when she realizes that it was never broken in the first place. She picks up a ranger station, and begs for help, giving the name of the pilot of the plane and the number. They report that they will bring her a helicopter, and that there's a slim chance that the others made it---People go missing all the time in that territory. As the radio broadcast ends, Hogar returns to camp with a bag of red meat. He cooks it over the fire, and happily serves it on plates made from the planes wing. He describes it as a 'gourmet' dinner, and happilly hums a tune. Becky keeps the AR-7 close, untrusting of Hogar. He realizes this, and decides that she, too, caused the plane accident. He tells her that Hogar died, and that from his ashes a French-Canadian man by the name of "Louis Granada" was born, and that she feasted on the remains of Krista rather than the deer-which he had eaten. This stuns her, and gives Hogar time to steal the AR-7 from her. He gets the same evil look in his eye. The next morning, Hogar stands on a hill, waving at the Helicopter as if nothing happened. SO. Is this plot original, what can I do to improve it?
Do you know that your analog tv will not be receiving after Feb. 19, 2009? After February 19, 2009 all television stations in the United States will no longer be broadcasting in analog. All television stations will be broadcasting in digital and all of the old television sets will be garbage. It will be like the old radio sets that can not receive FM broadcasting. Everyone will have to go out and buy a new television and what is going to happen to all of the old sets. They are going to end up in the garbage and in our garbage dumps. Can you imagine the waste that this is going to cause along with the expense for everyone? In these tough economic times when we can not afford to buy gas, and food and heat our times, the televison and radio commission is going to force everyone to have to go out and buy a new televison. I believe that this should be stopped; it is only being pushed now and in the last few years by television moguls like Rogers who want us to have to spend more and more money to get digital receiving. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK can we stop it?

RALEIGH, N.C. – If there had been time, Marie Exley would have liked to start a family. Instead, the 32-year-old Army veteran has less than six months left, which she'll spend spreading a stark warning: Judgment Day is almost here. To get the word out, they're using billboards and bus stop benches, traveling caravans of RVs and volunteers passing out pamphlets on street corners. Cities from Bridgeport, Conn., to Little Rock, Ark., now have billboards with the ominous message, and mission groups are traveling in countries from Latin America to Africa to spread the news outside the U.S. "A lot of people might think, 'The end's coming, let's go party,'" said Exley, a veteran of two deployments in Iraq. "But we're commanded by God to warn people. I wish I could just be like everybody else, but it's so much better to know that when the end comes, you'll be safe."

Who is for the censorship of Freedom Of Speech as defined by The Fairness Doctrine? SHOULD Barack Obama win the presidency and Democrats take full control of Congress, next year will see a real legislative attempt to bring back the Fairness Doctrine - and to diminish conservatives’ influence on broadcast radio, the one medium they dominate. Yes, the Obama campaign said some months back that the candidate doesn’t seek to re-impose this regulation, which, until Ronald Reagan’s FCC phased it out in the 1980s, required TV and radio broadcasters to give balanced airtime to opposing viewpoints or face steep fines or even loss of license. But most Democrats - including party elders Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Al Gore - strongly support the idea of mandating “fairness.” Of course they do. Liberal talk shows consistently fail. They just want to stomp Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingram and Beck out of business. New Mexico Democrat Supports Revival of Fairness Doctrine Sen. Jeff Bingaman: "I would want this station and all stations to have to present a balanced perspective and different points of view." Lots of readers have been alerting me to Chuck Schumer’s comments on Fox News this morning, reportedly comparing conservative opinion to pornography that needs to be regulated. Fairness Doctrine here we come. Asked if he is a supporter of telling radio stations what content they should have, Schumer used the fair and balanced line, claiming that critics of the Fairness Doctrine are being inconsistent. “The very same people who don’t want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air. I am for that… But you can’t say government hands off in one area to a commercial enterprise but you are allowed to intervene in another. That’s not consistent.” In 2007, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), a close ally of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told The Hill, “It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine. I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.” Senate Rules Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) last year said, “I believe very strongly that the airwaves are public and people use these airwaves for profit. But there is a responsibility to see that both sides and not just one side of the big public questions of debate of the day are aired and are aired with some modicum of fairness.” Conservatives fear that forcing stations to make equal time for liberal talk radio would cut into profits so significantly that radio executives would opt to scale back on conservative radio programming to avoid escalating costs and interference from the FCC. They also note that conservative radio shows has been far more successful than liberal ones.
I am a fan of the movie Christine, but wanted to write my own story about a vengeful old car, rate my outline? The car is a '58 impalla, same year. The main difference is that the car, although vengeful at the death of it's owner, is not evil. It is in fact protective, and almost human. Troubled teen visits junkyard, finds wrecked car. Makes friends with the old Junkman, who offers him a job in exchange for free car and repair time. the man comes to learn of the boys troubled homelife, and begins to be even more glad the kid has a place to be when not at school. car is repaired, custom paint hydraulics/sound systems, a lowrider. the kid takes the man for the first drive and the man notes a warm feeling from the auto. eventually the kid dies in a race he was challenged to by a "Thug/punk type", and when the car is towed back to the 'yard, The radio plays the kid's favorite song, and a broadcast about his death. The junkman takes out the battery after he can't shut it off, only to have the car later (with no battery) start itself up, drive to the gate, and blow it's horn to be let out. the man complies with this and doesent expect it to return, although sensing it's intentions. of course the car runs down the bully, but then returns to the yard. the man comes out to find it somehow sitting on the conveyer belt. when he reaches in to get the Yin Yang mirror ornament the kid installed, he has a vision and discovers that the car wants to be killed for what it has done
Remember that old album "The Who Sell Out?"? And yes, it was an album, before it was a CD! I pulled it out to listen again this week. VERY entertaining and inventive! Some really good songs tucked away among all the jingles and commercials. (This was their answer, I suppose, to Sgt. Pepper. Rather than being serious, the "concept" was that it was a broadcast from a pirate radio station. So the record is complete with the familiar "station identification" jingles and funny commercials by the band for products, real or imagined.) There are some really touching songs (Our Love Was, I Can't Reach You and Sunrise), some interesting 60s pop, and the hit I Can See For Miles. Interesting too how some musical concepts from the record later turned up on Tommy. This is not an all-time great, but rather a quirky, transitional "dress rehearsal" for their best-known work. I think Rolling Stone ranked it somewhere in their Top 500 albums. Remember Roger Daltrey in the tub of baked beans? Any other fans out there? Der, I know what you mean. Tommy seems to have even more "song fragments" that Sell Out does! There may be a higher percentage of genuine, stand-alone songs on Sell Out. So much of Tommy is a "narrative" and doesn't stand on its own. You have to hear it all together for it to be satisfying.
why do people do this to me? hey just introducing myself.. im mista misundastood.. alternately kezz if youd like.. i am 19 years old.. im a male lol.. im interested in a few things.. skating and music being two of them.. i live in new zealand!! i moved from a small town to wellington (the capital) to start a new life as i was always teased and stuff at school.. so moved to the capital to see what i could make of myself.. i have a part time job and am studying a diploma in radio broadcasting.. it seemed to start off ok.. (the course i mean) then a whole heap of things happened.. i started to become the laughing stock of the class.. even have a few nicknames.. scary *kevin, *jerry fairy, S.Q. (stands for stupid question).. and now have been feeling like i've become segregated from everyone.. there is this one girl though.. her name is *Lily.. and she doesn't seem to care what the rest of the class says or does towards me.. shes becoming a good close friend. but it seems that everywhere i have been in my life, school, holiday programmes, camps.. i always tend to become the guy that everyone teases or picks on.. i dont understand why.. what is so wrong with me?? why have i become the guy everyone picks on.. i always have bad luck with girls too.. but i dont get it.. im a great guy.. charming, nice, caring, thoughtful.. pleaase help..
Continue with this Internship? i got this internship as a radio broadcast assistant for a minor league baseball team. ive been working and training for just over a week now, and im not sure if i want to continue. MY JOB: AWAY GAMES: my job is to be at a nearby radio station for the away games, and operate this switchboard, which i am fairly new to. and stay there for the duration of the game, and be there an hour before and after. the only benefit is that i get to come on 10 minutes before and introduce the pregame show, but then i have to play a prerecorded interview done by the actual broadcaster (a.k.a. my boss) that takes up most of that time. HOME GAMES: now i haven't worked a home game at the actual stadium yet, but apparently i need to be there at 3pm for a 7pm game*, and i get to come on with him for play by play for the middle innings (or so what im told) ---------------------------- ***keep in mind in order make money this summer (this internship isn't paid) i work at a local day camp M-F 9:30am to 4:30pm**** (meaning i cant be there for home games until about 5pm by the time i drive up there from camp) Now there is another radio broadcast assistant, who splits the away games with me, and is also there for home games. so what that means is if im not working at the station on away games i am off, but for home games one of us in back at the station, while the other is at the field (these are what my boss calls "cant miss games"). this basically means that i work maybe 5 nights a week, not getting paid, and giving up a lot of nights and other occasions to either run a switch board or go to the stadium. MY BOSS: hes only about 24, a year out of college (well known athletic program, got experience there) doesn't look old at all, i even look older than him. he was doing what im doing now last year, but when the radio broadcaster quit, he was in the right place & time to get the job. he is a very meticulous person, and will ask the same question multiple times, and writes everything down, so i do not see him giving this job up up anytime soon. now you may be thinking , why did you take on this commitment? well when i first inquired about being an intern i came in through a different department who said i would work home games only. then when i said i was more curious about the radio broadcasting aspect, they referred me over to my current boss, who told me the hours when i just started working my first game, and made me work a 4 day weekend , 2 days before that same weekend BOTTOM LINE: - this internship only lasts for the summer (sept 4th) - no pay - spending $ on gas to get there (30 minutes away) - getting to work for a professional sports organization - potential to move up is dismal past an internship position. - nothing to get for even a personal demo reel - giving up most of my nights and plans to work here - will extend my working days (w/ the camp) Now i understand this is a lot but i cant help but feel guilt if i leave, but then i think about this is just something to put on my resume. i've already learned how to work this switchboard, and im not really sure what there is left to learn except for continuous practice and going to the games. my question to you: WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Sulcata Tortoise HELP!!!? I have a 6 your old sulcata tortoise and shes very healthy . I just recently graduated college for radio broadcasting and I cant haul her around anymore . I love her to death but unfortunitly its time for us to part ways .. HELP PLEASE!!!!
the eastern conference team to beat in 2008-09? I don't care if you guys disagree with me but the team to beat in 08-09 will not be the Celtics, nor the Pistons, Raptors, Magic or Cavaliers. It will be the Chicago Bulls, and its funny how time has played itself into this generation, I remember being 12 yrs old watching Michael Jordan hit his final shot for his 6th championship with the Bulls before retiring in 1998 and they dismantled their entire roster. Now, they can recieve the top pick in this years draft, land a superstar player through free-agency "pending they trade a few peieces", signing Mike D' Antoni as head coach, there even changing their announcers and radio broadcasting...As a Bulls fan, im excited and thrilled at the new changes to come and mark my words, they will be the team to beat! if u dont think so, lemme just state that despite their poor record this year, they beat the cavs 3/4 times, pistons 3/4 times, raptors 2/4 times, and almost beat the celtics and magic twice between both teams.
What do you think of My Dramatic Monologue Story for GCSE Coursework English? Parts in Brackets () are Stage Directions and the first and last paragraphs are also stage directions. (Someone is talking casually on a radio broadcast called “Inside Out.” This person is sitting in his bedroom. The room is smothered with “Doctor Who” Posters and astronomy memorabilia. This “someone” seems to be a teenager. He tends to stay on the bed which is right next to the window, so he can look out of it when he’s bored. The sound will also amplify (get louder) at certain moments). Doctor Who was on the TV today. I’ve liked the program ever since Jake introduced it to me. I like to think as Jake as my Brother, as we share a room together. Jake and Mum have just popped out to the shop to go and get some food for tonight. (Sound amplifies) I hope they get back soon. Fade It’s getting near to Christmas, so Jake and Mum started putting up some Christmas Decorations in Jake’s Bedroom. I didn’t want to get involved so I watched from the bed. To be honest I felt really tired from not getting much sleep the night before. Jake kept me up all night with his continuous snoring. I wish I’d helped to put up the decorations because it was really boring watching Mum and Jake do everything. Fade I noticed Jake was rehearsing for his school play “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.” I didn’t know which character he was supposed to be but Jake was singing a lot of songs and generally wearing a big long coat with lots of colours on it. (He shrugs his arms and thinks hard for five seconds) I don’t know… anyway he was a character. I thought he was really good in rehearsal, the only downfall was the high notes when he was singing which were sometimes painful to listen to but otherwise he was fantastic!(Sound amplifies) anyway I applauded him on his performance but he just chucked his coat on the bed and ran down the stairs for tea – teenagers these days hey? Fade Jake had some friends come round earlier on today. As soon as I heard the door bell ring at eleven o’clock, a buzz of excitement went through my body. They came up to the room and started playing board games and having numerous goes on the X-BOX. I wanted to have a go but Jake never offered and his friends didn’t even greet me! I think Jake found me a bit embarrassing to be honest…maybe I just didn’t fit in. Fade I swear Jake is the least observant person I know. He came into the bedroom yesterday afternoon whilst I was having a little nap and he threw himself up into the air and landed on the double bed with a thump and I being so small went flying off the bed and onto the ground and because the TV was on so loud he hadn’t even noticed. It was a minute later when he realised I had fallen off the bed (he tuts and presumably shakes his head) and guess what, he didn’t even offer to help me back up! I decided to just sit on the floor to prove my point and I only got back onto the bed when Mum came into to get the laundry. (Sound amplifies) something is not quite right here. Fade There’s this girl called Annie who lives across the street from us (there is a long pause whilst he is thinking of Annie. After five seconds he carries on speaking): Whenever I see her I get a shiver run down my spine. Well, she is gorgeous - her hair is as wavy as the sea and her skin is as smooth as silk (There is a longer pause for about 10 seconds this time, as scratching can be heard).(Sound amplifies) I wish my skin was as smooth as hers; mine nowadays tends to be worn and hairy. Fade Mum was tidying Jake’s room yesterday ready for when Jake got home from school. I’ve only ever been to school once and that was when I went with Jake on a mufti day. (Sound amplifies) that was five years ago, can you believe it! Jake was only eight years old then (He suddenly becomes sad but doesn’t start to cry)… they were happy times. Times when I truly felt loved and cared for. Instead of feeling neglected and isolated in my own home! Jake is growing up and living his life to the full so why he does he need me. Fade (Sound amplifies) I came to this house when Jake was only three. Before, I used to live in a shop where I would slump to the floor all day, every day just waiting for someone to take me in and take good care of me. That was when I first found Linda and Jake. I can still remember the moment when mine and Jake’s eyes first met. From that moment on we were instantly attached. I would go everywhere with him and he would love me and talk to me, he made me feel special (long pause while he thinks back). At that time, Mum was going through a tough time with the divorce settlement and Jake and I were both upset: but do you know what got us through? It was the fact that we both had each other. Fade Mum and Jake were in the study today talking about me. Mum said “if you don’t want him anymore – he can go. There is no point keeping him around for much longer. I mean, he’s only a possession.” Jake replied “Fine just get rid of IT.” I have

Has anyone ever analyzed Salad Fingers? Its been bothering me for a while, but I cannot find anyone else who seems to be bothered by this as much as I am. I've watched the Salad Fingers episodes a few times and have some theories about it, and I was just wondering what other people thought about it. I mean most people think its just some random emo cartoon (no im not emo...), but I think that there might be more behind it than just random-ness. One of the things that I have really noticed about Salad Fingers is that he makes several references to the "Great War." (episode 7) He also has "old" friend with the names of "Roger" (episode 8) and "Charlie," (episode 5) and is skilled at escaping from deadly situations (episode 4). There is also an instance where he speaks in another language (Episode 2) when he is talking to his "friends" Marjory Stewart-Baxtor, Jeremy Fisher, and Hubert Cumberdale. He finds solace in a "safety cupboard" when Roger (his stereo) is emitting transmissions that he didn't like (episode 8). He passes out at the first sight of blood. (episodes 2 and 5).He seems to also be skilled at killing, although he doesn't particularly mean to be (indicating that it comes naturally) (episode 2), however he doesn't seem to be phased emotionally by death (episodes 7 and 3). In Episode 6 he comes across Jeremy Fisher and says he thought that he was still out fighting the "great war," and then comments on how he has developed a "strange dialect." Also in this episode there is a scene where he is talking to a toilet, and then suddenly starts defending himself saying "you've got the wrong bloke squire." he then flushes and says "wash those bad thoughts away..." He then interrogates Jeremy Fisher about "tailgating his daughter." Saying that he doesn't "make mistakes comrade, this one is textbook." In episode 7 he digs up "Kenneth" (his brother) from his yard, scolds him for leaving for the "great war" without him, put him a nice suit (while commenting on how the general had better lock up his daughters tonight/the trouble that there would be in the maidens quarters) and has a nice dinner with his corpse, then as he reburies him he cries about his brother having to return to the great war, and asks that the "creator" return him unspoiled. In episode 8, he talks about how he listens to the "great war" on his radio (roger), and hears an unpleasant transmission that he hopes doesn't have anything to do with him. He sits in his safety cupboard and cries. He finds Hubert Cumberdale in his chamber pot, and tell him to scrub himself because he doesn't want any "dirty immigrants" in his house, then Roger wakes him up to "clean the filthy house"...Salad fingers complains because it is not his turn. These things I have picked in order to support my theory ( I know most of you are thinking, "why is this even important? its just a webshow" but it intrigues me) If i had to pick a persona for salad fingers, a past to the life that we observe through these episodes, i would say that he is a child raised while his country was at war. His younger brother goes away to war, and dies. He basks in the memory of his brother, and all of the war stories that he had told him before he went back to the war for the final time, never to return again. Salad Fingers was fascinated with the war, and enjoyed learning about all of his brothers friends, the new language that he had to speak, the tactics he has learned in combat, as well as how his brother had changed (he was probably rejected from going to war for some reason). Rogers "unpleasant transmissions" could be memories of the radio broadcast that announced the slaughter on his brothers platoon. After his brother died his parents most likely were filled with grief (as well as when his brother was away, they probably looked at the enemy as "dirty immigrants" and may have been forced to board them in their own home), all they had left was their fked up son, salad fingers. As a result they neglect him. Now obviously Salad Fingers is insane from the terrible life that he has had, however he is still optimistic in his fantasy world, looking at the glass as "half full." What do you think?
Thinking of going back to school? I was thinking of going back to school, I am 27 years old, I went to a trade school after high school and got a diploma in Radio Broadcasting, but because LIFE happened, I never did anything with it after graduating. Now I am married and have two small children, I was thinking of going to college online, possibly for teaching, nursing, or graphic design ( If you can even study these things online), I have been out of the school scene for almost 10 years now, I feel dumb. I was valedictorian for my graduating class, I took all these math classes: geometry, trigonometry, calculus, but now I can't remember any of it, barely even basic algebra, I feel I will make a fool of myself if I fail an entrance exam. I have never failed any test before, but I swear having kids burned out some of my brain cells, no lie. I have a hard time concentrating on things. Has anyone been through a similar situation that could offer me some encouragement?
Need Ideas for College? Heres a little run-down about me: I am a 22 year old male questioning the future and what i want to do and where i want to be in life I have gone to college before for a few semesters but have never taken it serious because I always choose friends and fun over studying I have worked mostly retail and don't want to do that for the future, I now work full time as a courier/ runner and I like it, but theres no room for any further advancement I have a list of things that I like: Skateboarding, Computers( using, not repairing) Tattoos, Physical Activity, I helped build skateboard ramps using concrete and wood and liked that, I like open-minded people, Good music, travel, psychology, animals/nature, radio broadcasting, english/writing, and helping people. I don't like: working hard for little pay, Math or Science, or creating art. What are some choices that I could major in?? I am also limited because I did bad on the SATs and refuse to go to community college again. PLEASE HELP! I need some inspiration
Teaching as a possible career, general questions? I'm headed into my freshmen year of college and right now i have little idea as to what i want to do, right now i'm tossing around teaching, radio broadcasting, and business, but i just don't know enough yet about each one to make a firm choice. As far as teaching i would probably be looking at a history or english degree, i'm not that great at math and i'm o.k at science so it just seems logical. I have heard that the majority of students in college are also going for either history or english because they are easier, does this make finding a job out of college harder? are there a surplus of history and english teachers? About how much time off per year do teachers really get? Do they really get the whole 3 months in summer off? What are the typical hours per week a teacher puts in? At my school old highschool they started class at 8 a.m and ended at 2:45 p.m so i'd guess that teachers show up maybe an hour before it starts and stay and hour or so after schools out? is that about right? I see a lot of teachers on the ask boards complaining about salaries and of course it's always on the local news when a school faculty has a strike, but is the pay really THAT bad? 35-50k per year doesn't seem too bad to me, but maybe it's just a lot harder of a job than what i can tell? i know i have a lot of questions, thanks for reading and i appreciate any responses in helping me learn more. oh, i am an indiana resident btw, northwest indiana near chicago and i would probably plan on staying in indiana to teach. -thanks! also 1 more thing to ask, sorry. haha, what do you think is more worthwhile, teaching elementary or teaching high school? and how much of a pay difference/frustration difference, if any is there?

Wife Refusing To Stop Calling Male Friend? For the past 16 years of our marriage, my wife has "preached" that men and woman cannot be friends at work and has completed insisted that all relationships at work be professional and that "friendly" talk does not occur without "friendly" relationships developing and those would not and should not take place in places where I've worked. That's hard to do. I've worked in professional management settings and to not ask someone about their weekend or about their family or if they've had a nice vacation of Christmas is pretty hard to do. But I've resisted that and that "cold" attitude has not bode well for me at these jobs because I come across as not caring. I'm in a non-management position now and work out of town. My wife has lost some staff at her business and is trying to make do with what little staff she has. Over the summer, two men (one in his early 20s and one in his late 40s) volunteered to help with her work. In fact, she became involved very quickly in participating in the radio show they were doing on Friday nights. I was told I wasn't allowed to be around her business while this show was on the air and wasn't allowed to interact with these two men. In fact, the first time I met them was at her father's funeral. I discovered on a recent cell phone bill that she calls the older of the men 5-6 times a day and at one point racked up over 60 hours in one recent month (which was about 28 hours more than she talked to me -- her husband). I became quite upset and have tried to have discussions about this. She doesn't see that she's doing exactly what she forbade me to do for the past 16 years. But because it's her doing it she tells me that I'm trying to "put her in a box" and "limit" what she does and who she interacts with. Her father, who ran the business and was a daily fixture, is dead and she is by herself a majority of the day. She says she talks with this man because they have "radio broadcasting" in common and she wants to pass the time. She does call me some, but it always upsets me to see where she has called this man during the day. She calls him about 70 percent of the time and he calls her about 30 percent of the time. I get very jeolous of this because she won't seem to understand why this upsets me. If it were an issue of me talking to a woman that amount of time, I can assure you she would be quick to address this situation and she would make it known to me that if it did not stop, there would be repercussions. However, I pointed out to her last night that I have brought this to her attention on several occassions and she still refuses to stop calling him. I don't have a problem with either of the men helping her with her business (which they do without pay) but I think the calls should be kept to a minimum only when she needs to schedule a broadcast or maybe to ask a question. However, calling 5-6 times a day, six days a week is not about just asking a question. It's become an obsession on her part and it makes me feel very angry that she continues to do this even after I've shared my feelings with her. I've even pointed out that if I were to have a female caller doing the same thing with me, she would be furious and she agrees with that. So what are my options and can you let me know what I should do -- if anything. I'm afraid if I don't say anything, she'll think I don't care and continue -- but that's backfired because it seems the more I tell her that I don't like it, the more she does it. She doesn't have sexual feelings for the man and I don't believe he does for her. She if very beautiful and 42. We have several beautiful and healthy children and attend church on a regular basis. However, I don't want to limit her the way she's limited me over the years -- I just don't feel like what she's doing is appropriate. I haven't given her an ultimatum but I've tried to speak to her about this various times over the past few weeks. I get accused of being "heavy" and "no fun" and continues to tell me that she wants me to be "light and funny" Well, because she spends so much time at her business, I'm doing more of the chores at home and doing all of her billing, accounts receivable and payroll at her business and I guess I just get a bit stressed out and tend to be "not fun and funny." I told her I hated that she was talking with this guy to get that each day. I have told her time and again that this bothers me and she continues to tell me that she doesn't have a problem with it because she doesn't do anything inappropriate. I know lots of men and women who have friends of the opposite sex. People can do this and be ok. there's really nothing wrong with it. But a few years ago I was out on a date with my wife and my boss had given my cell number to a lady who ran a Christmas assistance program and I just forgot -- last night she said she only talks to this guy until about noon or 1p. and that's it. during her working hours. she has lost her only salesman at the radio station and needs to do the selling herself. the 30-50 minutes she spends on the phone with this guy could be used to make sales calls. But then again, that's not "fun" and "light". She has many of the characteristics of her dad, who "played" during the day and left the work of running the business to his late wife. When she passed away, the business began to go "down hill" fast because he had limited business ability.
Is it Fair to say that REPUBS HAVE CORRUPTED FAMILY VALUES? Why is it that republican and religious and secular conservatives continue make family values an election issue. The issue of family values and morality was ONE of the hallmark reasons for the Republican take-over of congress and it was also used as a theme during Bush’s first run for office. There are many, many, many more. I know that I am going to be accused of being repub-coserv-basher. I am not, I know the democrats have just as many scandals if not more. My 80gig iPod Classic is able to pick up radio stations, anyone know why? Hello all, So this one afternoon whilst attending a very uneventful, weekend long, overnight Catholic Convention, I was wandering the campus hosting the convention's 6 floor, open air parking lot. Thinking I'd pass the time listening to music, I popped in my headphones and kicked up some tunes on my iPod Classic, 80gigabyte model. A song with a long pause of silence came on. Listening closly, I heard a song that I knew was not on my iPod... went something like "That good old mountain due"... I'd never heard the song before. Then I heard commercials... lol... then i heard an announcer say the name of the channel... something "east coast"... I was shocked that my ipod was able to pick up stations from that far away, so i'm thinking the station must've been broadcasting in am... obv. Anyone have an explanation for this?
Why are people voting for Obama? Giving the following, I am curious, why are people voting for Barack Obama? I know some are voting for him just because it is about time we had a black President, and many are voting for him just because he is more charismatic and youthful... and many more because he is promising to "spread the wealth" and provide free health care for everyone and steal from the rich and give to the poor and cure cancer... but it seems like among the huge numbers of voters, there must be some with intelligent reasons as well? So I am curious, why would otherwise intelligent people vote for this man, with so much at stake? I can tell you why I am voting for his opponent. Not that McCain has done a fantastic job of convincing me he would make a great President, but at least with him I don't have to worry about: Passage of the Matthew Shepherd Act, which could make it illegal to say anything bad about homosexuality, and create an environment where preachers could go to jail for teaching certain parts of the Bible, which Obama has said he will use the all the force of his administration to pass. Thanks Obama, thanks for thought crimes legislation, where you can be punished for your thoughts. (see: “hate crimes”) While in the Illinois Senate, Senator Obama voted for a bill authorizing “comprehensive” sex education beginning in kindergarten. Most Americans, particularly parents, would consider this unacceptable, but this is the extreme leftist that is on the verge of taking the most powerful political office on the planet Earth. Passage of the "Freedom of Choice" act, which would remove the ban on partial birth abortion, which is where a baby after the third trimester.. in other words, a fully developed baby, can be partially delivered, except for the head, when the abortionist kills the baby in a violent way. I won't go into details here, as it is too horrible and may cause more sensitive readers to have nightmares. It was banned in 2003, but Obama would bring it back. (see: partial birth abortion) Obama voted AGAINST the ban on partial birth abortion, and also voted against providing medical help for babies who survive abortion - THREE TIMES. He was the the only legislator who rose to argue against the Illinois Born Alive Act. This is a researchable fact, not someone's opinion. Barack Obama is more extreme on the abortion issue than even NARAL. He has said that as President, his first act would be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act. The Fairness Doctrine, which the extreme Left, such as Barack Obama, would like to pass in order to be able to punish radio and television stations for not giving "equal time" to the liberal viewpoint... the enactment of which would basically shut down conservative broadcasts, which is the actual, albeit unstated, goal. Obama's intentions to decimate America's armed forces, even as China INCREASES their military spending every year... why? Is anyone threatening China? Who knows why, but this is no time to leave our country defenseless. Want to hear it in his own words? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0du8wMLzEY Obama's "spread the wealth" socialist philosophy, and his intentions to raise the Capital Gains tax, which is part of what is frightening the investors and causing such havoc in the stock market. Now McCain served in our armed forces and was a prisoner of war, while Obama has written about his hatred and distrust of "white people." By the time you are old enough to write and publish a book, you should be wise enough to know that you should judge a man by the content of his character, not the color of his skin. I don't want a racist as President, be he white, black, green, or purple. Frankly, I think it is time we had a black president, and there are certainly many outstanding black people who would make a fantastic President, but Barack Obama's twisted ideas about morals, values, and human life make him more than unsuitable for the role. So I am asking why? >vonetta_ - I live in Illinois produce >some proof on the kindergarten one, >please I would love to see it. Even the Washington Post, a VERY liberal paper, confirms it in their "Fact checker": "The McCain ad is wrong when it claims--in a voice dripping with sarcasm--that Obama's "one accomplishment" in the education field was the sex education bill for kindergartners. While it is true that Obama supported the bill, he was not one of the sponsors." Grey, you did not answer the question "why are people voting for Obama," you merely attempted to dismiss my facts as unresearched blog fodder, which they most assuredly are not.

Should the government or Area 51 expose the truth to us about what has really been going on? Area 51 is situated in the southwestern portion of Lincoln County in southern Nevada in the western United States. A large military airfield is situated at its center. This center is known as the most secretive places in the world. Although, the base's primary purpose as explained by the authorities is to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems, there are thousands of people who do not believe this story. The intense secrecy surrounding the base, the very existence of which the US Government barely acknowledges, together with reports of unusual phenomena has led it to become the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and UFO folklore. There are many stories circulating around on Area 51 - most of them are about UFOs and aliens. I have tried to compile some of the unconventional activities claimed to be underway at Area 51. I have also included some supposed proofs in favor of these claims. Let me know if I have left some other ideas out of this hub. 11 FAMOUS AREA 51 FOLKLORE 1. Alien spacecraft storage: Storage, examination, and reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft 2. Study of aliens: Examination of dead aliens that came in UFOs and interrogation of living aliens 3. Manufacture of aircraft based on alien technology 4. Meetings or joint undertakings with extraterrestrials 5. Energy weapons: Development of exotic energy weapons said to be many times deadlier 6. Weather control: Established means of weather control or experiments undergoing over it 7. Time travel: Establishedmeans of time travel ordevelopment of time travel technology 8. Aurora aircraft: Development of unusual and exotic propulsion systems related to the Aurora Aircraft Program (a cutting age spy plane) 9. Politics and secret society: Activities related to a supposed shadowy one world government and/or the Majestic Twelve organization (A secret committee of scientists, military leaders, and government officials, supposedly formed in 1947 by an executive order of U.S. President Harry S. Truman to investigate UFO activity) 10. Simulation of moon's environment: In 2000-2001, Fox Television broadcast a show about Apollo moon landing hoax accusations, in which it was suggested that the entire moon landing in 1969 was a hoax and was filmed in parts of Area 51 11. Misdirection attempt: During the mid 1990s, the most secret work previously done in Area 51 was quietly moved to other facilities and the continued secrecy around is largely a successful attempt at misdirection "PROOFS" SUPPORTING THESE CLAIMS 1. In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed that he had worked at a facility at Papoose Lake (which he called S-4) on such a U.S. Government flying saucer 2. The 1996 documentary Dreamland directed by Bruce Burgess included an interview with a 71 year old mechanical engineer who claimed to be a former employee at Area 51 during the 1950s, working on a "flying disc simulator" built to train US Pilots, based on a disc originating from a crashed extraterrestrial craft. During his career at Area 51 he claimed to have worked with an extraterrestrial being whose name was "J-Rod", described as a telepathic translator 3. Dan Burisch (real name, Dan Crain) claims to have worked on cloning alien viruses at Area 51, also with the alien "J-Rod" 4. In July 1996, a man named "Victor" announced on Art Bell's Coast to Coast AM radio show that he had a videotape of an alien interrogation which had taken place in Area 51. He claimed that he had made a copy of the tape during a scheduled transfer of analogue videotape files on the base into digital form, and had then smuggled the copy out of Area 51. The video appears to show the head of an alien creature in a dark interrogation room, allegedly using telepathy to communicate with military personnel and scientists. The footage was eventually included in a video documentary entitled Area 51: The Alien Interview

Do radio stations record all of their broadcasts? And if so, how can you listen to them? I'm looking for a particular one in Canada. The announcer for the station [my friend] just quit, but my other friend never got to hear her broadcasting or anything and now she wants to hear it. I know, convenient. So is there any way you can listen to old broadcasts? Thanks - almost anything helps!

How Can I Clear Up The Audio Quality On My Live Internet Radio Broadcasts? I host a live internet radio show on www.blogtalkradio.com and recently, I've noticed that the audio quality of my more recent shows isn't as clear as that of my older shows, (for example, show 31, sounds slightly tinny compared to show 5), if you search fr "Scott Bull", you'll be able to hear what I mean. Recently I do have a new computer, but all of the equipment I use is more superior, for example, for the 5th show, I was using a Packard Bell W1801 and just the on-board Realtek soundcard, however, for the more recent shows, I've been using a Packard Bell iMedia 2770 and a CreativeLabs USB SoundBlaster Audigy 2 NX, (when using the internal sound-card, it came out all warped and distorted). I host the show via Skype(Out). Is there any software I can use that I can route the signal through before it goes through Skype to clear it up, or anything like that? The show quality is still fairly clear, just not as clear as it was, and clear audio is always nice for listeners.
How much would a 35+yr.old record of the original 1938 War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast be worth? It's in mint condition...just wondering an estimate on how much I could get for it without getting ripped off.
How do I make audio files in Audacity sound older? example: making a modern file sound like an old radio broadcast, vinyl record
How can I use my nice old FM radio with the arrival of DAB? With the advent of DAB radio and the termination of FM broadcasts, I still want to use my 1957 radiogram to listen to the radio. Is there a device out there (or planned) which can receive multiple DAB channels and then broadcast them all on different FM frequencies so that I can tune my "wireless" between the stations. NB. Before answering this question, I already know of the existence of iTrips and the like. Using an iTrip to the above effect will require me to retune the DIGITAL radio. I do not want this. I wish to be able to retune just my old radio to one of the (say five) channels which have been "converted" in my house. This way I will also be able to tune more than one FM radio in different rooms and listen to multiple channels, all broadcast from my "central transmitting hub". At the moment, the only solution I have is to buy 5 DAB radios and 5 iTrips and set them all up transmitting 5 different stations on 5 different frequncies. This could be costly! Cheers!

orson welles starred in an old black and white movie about his radio cast of War of the Worlds. Is it on DVD? it starts out with him preparing for the original broadcast, the one that shocked America. Is it on VHS?
Old Canadian broadcast regarding United States. Someone well regarded in Canada extolling America. Who was it? I know it's very vague. There was 'someone' who was famous or somehow well regarded in Canada who at some point made a radio broadcast or other recorded speech about the virtues of the United States and it's generosity etc. It's quite old but I'm not sure when .. 40's maybe? 50's? Does anyone have any idea? This person was a Canadian. Not a Canadian/American or otherwise part of American culture. He was a known part of Canadian culture (at the time) and the speech was quite famous (at least in America). ahh I found it .. wasn't as old as I thought. In case anyone cares it was "Gordon Sinclair" and it was called "The Americans"

Movie with people in a space ship faster than light listening to a broadcast from the past. Any ideas? I was in a video store years ago and saw one scene from a space movie of people sitting around listening to an old broadcast from the past. They were traveling faster than light and we catching old radio waves as the moved. I never could find out the name of the movie.
Where did the "We can remember it for you wholesale" dramatization originally come from? I had always liked the movie Total Recall so when I had a chance to get the short story titled "We can remember it for you wholesale" by Phillip K. Dick, I picked it up. Later a friend of mine claimed to have the short story as an audio book, in MP3 format, so I got it from him. Only it wasn't the short story but a dramatization done in audio only. At first I thought it was a old radio broadcast they might of done years ago but part way through the show, a character used the word B.S. Clearly this was not broadcast on the radio back then, so I am left wondering where did it come from? The show said it was dramatized by a Ghram White and directed by Catherine Horn and Stared Bradley Lovell (?), but a internet search of these people turned up nothing relating to "We can remember it for you wholesale" or Phillip K. Dick.
Fiction Radio Shows In Cleveland? Are there currently any broadcasts, or re-broadcasts, of any fiction radio shows, like those old detective and investigator radio shows, being broadcast on live radio in Cleveland today? If so, which stations?
In 2009, will the mass disposal of old TVs and radios harm the environment? (Due to the switch to digital broadcasting.) I imagine a lot of people will buy new TVs and radios. What will happen to the old ones? Are there ways to recycle/reuse parts? This is not a source of worry for me, trust me. It's just a question! Just wondering what the environmentalist POV is.
Can anyone offer me any good tips on how to teach myself foreign languages? I studied 3 foreign languages in college, by after graduation, have found it very hard to maintain my knowledge and build on what I've learned (the languages were Swedish, Portuguese, and Spanish). Aside from reading news articles, listening to web radio broadcasts, and going through old textbooks, I'm at a loss on how to build on what I've already learned.
Is it true that AM radio can broadcast farther than FM radio? Is it true? Because when I'm on a trip, I usually hear the same FM radio for miles and miles, but then again, I don't know how long is a mile (I know it in ft I just cant tell how far i've gone lol) since I'm 14. So is it true? Also, give me more information on AM radio that a 14 year old like me can understand.
I am trying to think of the word to an old cub song with the words "from Walla Walla to Kalamazoo"? This is from the radio broadcast on WGN radio in the 60's or maybe the 70's. I think it is from the Vince Lloyd era
How do you feel about what Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War? Should she be forgiven? (I'm posting this in the Gay Section since I didn't get many answers in Celebrities. Plus, I'm GAY, so I'm curious what your thoughts are.) I've always been a big Jane Fonda fan. Love her movies and actually really like her workouts (I still use her Total Body Sculpting DVD). Plus, I've always thought she was a great looking woman. But since I was merely an infant when the Vietnam War was going on and only 3 years old when it ended, I didn't hear or know about her actions during the Vietnam War. In 1972, Jane Fonda actually visited North Vietnam and sided with the enemy. Later, she condemned American POW's who claimed they had been tortured -- she called them "liars and hypocrites." During her visit she recorded nine radio broadcasts on behalf of the North Vietnamese, calling our American serviceman "War criminals." Should she have been tried for treason? In her autobiography she explained and apologized for much of this. I almost feel guilty being a fan of hers... (My dad dislikes her. He was in the Army, but didn't serve in Vietnam. My older brother was in the Army in the 1980s and likes Jane Fonda just fine and doesn't care.) Anyway, what are your thoughts? Should she have been tried for treason? Sent to prison? Or is the fact that she apologized good enough for forgiveness? (Imagine someone going to Iraq today and doing the same thing...)

I have some really old 78 phonograph records. Where on the web (or anyplace else) might I find their value? Some of them have Red (color) Columbia Labels, most are black labels, from approximately 1920's to 1950's. All have Jackets, not always matching the record's label. Not all have Columbia Label. One label even states not to be used for radio broadcasts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Who remembers radio before television took its place? Television was experimental until about 1940 when a few stations began broadcasting. World War II shoved television onto a back burner and it did not become a major medium until the late 40's. I remember when we listened to the radio at night like we later watched TV. Radio drama, quiz shows, variety shows, news specials, and much more were brought into the living room by this wonderful medium. Then television came in and took its place. It's not bad, but somehow I think radio was better. I remember baseball games, the Indianapolis 500, political conventions, and more on television. Who agrees with me? What are the chances old-fashioned radio could make a comeback--possibly through satellite radio?
Since Rupert Murdoch owns MySpace and a chunk of Yahoo, how does he stay so out of touch with reality? His F-word News channel is so far bent to the right, it's almost like listening to a 1941 German radio broadcast. So many non-right column opinions are voiced here, you'd think the over-monied old coot would read some of them.. or at least hire someone to read them to him.
Can it be heard from space? Okay, i'm somewhat obsessed with the intro to the film Contact with Jodie Foster, excellent movie I thought but that intro is just memorable and beautiful in my opinion. Anyways, the intro depicts music playing as we get further from earth, the farther we move into outspace the older the radio broadcasts become. I understand a little bit about radio wave or RF from my days in the Navy but not that much anymore. So my question is, doesn't RF already travel at the speed of light and does it get fainter the further into space as depicted in the films intro? If the closest star had a planet like ours and they had an antenna how big do you think it would have to be to receive our faint signal? Sorry i have many questions but i appreciate any feedback, thanks~! Here's the URL of the video for those of you who would like to see it again or for the first time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNAUR7NQCLA

how do YOU intend to follow your boys of summer this baseball season? the sport of baseball is never so eloquent as when it's presented by radio announcers, old friends. the radio descriptions are as perfect today as they were on 1940s broadcasts. or maybe you prefer it live and in person... how many games are you planning to see this year? tailgating? will you bring your radio? an umbrella? tv covers ALL the angles, plus the instant replay you've become so accustomed to seeing after each play. can't get THAT at some of the old ballparks. also the commercials... can't get THOSE at the park either. then there's the internet. all the stats and details anyone could ever want. what an atmosphere too, i can almost smell the hotdogs and beer... ok those are on my desk. how do YOU like to follow your baseball heroes? who's your favorite team? player? mascot? 15 days until opening day!

Listening to games the "old fashioned way"? Radio broadcast anyone......anyone? Does anyone prefer listening to radio commentators over their boob tube counter parts? Favorite radio guys? I've had to listen to a lot of games the last two seasons on streaming internet radio. I have to say I think even boring games are exciting to listen to on the Radio. I love how excited the radio guys get! as an aside, I recently had to do a lot of driving for work and my rental had XM-sat radio. I am addicted to the Home Ice station. I almost drove off the road during the third period of the Sabres game the other night...CRAZY.

Dubbed quote, "Here are the thrillseekers, corrupt and immoral... too much, too often." Origins? Ok. So I've heard the dubbed quote, "Here are the thrillseekers, corrupt and immoral... too much, too often." in the song, "Cyclone" by the Dub Pistols and "Atom Shell" by That Handsome Devil and was wondering where it was from. It sounds like an old movie or radio broadcast, I'm guessing probably 1940's era. Thanks!
