Do you know any interesting greek radio shows? I have replaced the television with the radio lately, and my favorite shows are: "Agrypnos sti Net" with Manos Tsilimidis, "Anemologio" with Konstantinos Lavithis at Skai, and "Katw ap'to kioski" with Nana Tsouma, at Net. The first two shows are late at night, due to my limited free time. Do you have anything else in mind? A show of political or general interest? Where the listeners' views are heard? I am also looking for a show, with rock music. I know about Red, but the rock songs there are old and new and I only want the older classic rock songs, not the contemporary ones. Is there any radio show about classic rock music only? What do you usually choose to listen to at the radio? Thanks. :-)
Is It Time to Believe Now? October 26, 2006, 9:28 a.m. Funeral for a Tyrant A morally disorienting gathering in Havana. By Otto J. Reich This time the rumors are real: Castro is dying of stomach cancer. He may have already died, even before the funeral preparations were finished, so the news is not out. Confirmation of the terminal illness comes from the usual sources but in a non-conventional manner. The Cuban government has been summoning to Havana representatives of the major international media to negotiate the best seats, camera angles, and interviews with the despot’s political survivors, and to inform them of the ground rules for coverage of the state funeral. The foreign media are being told that the model for Castro’s funeral is that of Pope John Paul II a year ago. The Cubans actually believe — or pretend — that the death of a tyrant deserves the same attention as that of the world’s great men of peace. This is one of Castro’s lasting legacies to his countrymen: moral disorientation. The Cuban ruling class has been so isolated from reality for so long by fear and Castro’s airtight press control that they equate the burial of a mass murderer with that of a prince of the Church. No doubt there will be “dignitaries” at the funeral: fellow revolutionary leaders from the last repressive regimes on Earth: Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Sudan, for example; and leaders of failed states like Zimbabwe and Bolivia; and representatives of the world’s resentful Left and the Hollywood Left (pardon the redundancy). Some examples of distinguished invitees will include terrorists whose organizations once instilled panic in entire populations but are now forgotten except to their victims. Many of them were trained in Cuban camps back when Castro called for world revolution and predicted he would outlive capitalism: Argentine Montoneros, Uruguayan Tupamaros, Nicaraguan Sandinistas, Salvadorean FMLN, Colombian ELN, MIR, FARC, and others; Chileans, Brazilians, Guatemalans, Angolans, Ethiopians, Palestinians, Syrians, even Vietnamese. The list is virtually endless. Not long ago, Castro himself admitted publicly to having “supported wars of national liberation in every country in this hemisphere with the exception of Mexico”. I believe everything except the exception; his hand has been present in much of Mexico’s violence as well. One security problem the Cubans will face is that some of the “revolutionaries” who they trained in techniques of assassination, torture, kidnapping, bank robbery, explosives, and other tricks of the trade now hate each other and may use the occasion to settle old debts. The explosions heard in Havana may come not only from ceremonial cannons. The guests will have to be carefully screened for poisoned-tipped umbrellas and other Cold War artifacts. Among the guests coming to Havana for the Third-World Burial of the Century will be Western capitalists anxious to see how they can exploit Cuban workers, who are assigned to the employer by a Cuban state entity which then collects the salary and delivers five percent — yes, five percent — to the worker and keeps the rest to pay for the expenses incurred by the generous socialist state. There will be the bottom feeders of the capitalist world willing to go anywhere or do anything for the Almighty euro or peso. You know the ones, those who have given capitalism a bad name, the exploitation of man by man, and whose example is in turn used by the revolutionaries against the good capitalists. There will recognizable faces of American and other TV, oblivious to the irony of “covering” a press event orchestrated by a government which has not allowed a single free or independent newspaper, magazine, radio or television station for almost five decades. Caught up in the spectacle of the funeral, the smiley faces of the free world’s morning shows, the “serious” news readers of evening newscasts, of 24-hour news channels and “prestige press” will unlikely mention the “Ley Mordaza” (literally muzzle law), law number 88 of 1998, which calls for penalties of up to 30 years in prison for any Cuban caught telling the foreign press of any flaw in Cuba’s economic or human-rights record. It is unlikely they will ask to interview the prisoners who have violated Castro’s Orwellian laws and are serving terms of as much as 27 years for committing journalism without a license or stating that the economy does not produce enough to feed the people. There may be international labor leaders in attendance, who will equally disregard the absence of any but the official Cuban Communist labor organization. Not wishing to offend their hosts, they will not mention the Castro law which condemns to eight years in prison anyone guilty of even attempting to establish a non-government labor union. On second thought: Why should they mention it now, when they have been silent for so many decades? Some of those leaders present may even be government officials from democratic states, having been elected in free elections such as the ones which disappeared in Cuba half a century ago. That irony will escape them also. Then there will be some genuinely elected Christian or social democrats, from Europe and Latin America. Those who have been silent about, and therefore complicit in, the longest dictatorship in this hemisphere’s history. A wise man once said that “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” The history of Cuba in the past 50 years proves him right.
How can I filter out sites with the "$" and "£" signs in them, when doing an Internet search? Is there any way of eliminating websites that have the dollar and GB pound sign in their text? I ask this because I like downloading Old Time Radio (OTR) programmes. I try to find free programmes by putting combinations like: - -ebay -$ -£ in the search string. This works by filtering out ebay sites. But the search results still leave in sites with the dollar and pound sign in them. I tried using the combination -£* and -$*. These don't work. What I am trying to do is knock out sites that mention a price in their text. I realise that all this shows that I am VERY MEAN - although I do sometimes buy OTR programmes that I can't find free. What combination of characters will exclude the dollar and pound sign from my search results?
All’s Fair in Love and Talk Radio? All’s Fair in Love and Talk Radio Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.), caused a stir recently when she criticized talk radio for its role in stopping the recent immigration bill. Talk radio, she lectured, “pushes people to . . . extreme views without a lot of information.” Feinstein then went on to suggest that it might be time to bring back the “Fairness Doctrine, repealed in 1987, that mandated private radio stations devote time to all points of view during discussion of controversial topics. Unfortunately, Feinstein chose Orwellian logic to make her point: “I remember when there was a fairness doctrine, and I think there was much more serious correct reporting to people.” One wonders what Feinstein meant by “correct.” Correct to whom? Democratic senators, a government auditor or New York Times editors? Aside from the central issue of stifling free speech, there are a number of things wrong with Sen. Feinstein’s desire to have the government arbitrate what is “fair” and “correct” on your car radio. Talk radio is as much entertainment as political opinion. It lives or dies by ratings. Those who master the genre — with off-the-wall jokes, mimicry, satire, and bombast — prosper and get their political message across. Those who can’t, don’t. Had liberal talk show hosts of the past, like an Al Franken, Jerry Brown, or Mario Cuomo, won far more listeners than Rush Limbaugh, one suspects that Sen. Feinstein would see little need for new laws. And we would probably now be spared the present sour-grapes cries about fairness. The government is already in the broadcasting business with National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service. Despite conservative whining about the leftwing biases of these two institutions, fortunately no one has succeeded in having their broadcasts monitored or in demanding equal time on them for all views. More importantly, for reasons that are not entirely clear, liberals and conservatives tend to excel in different genres of American media. Most successful political radio talk shows are in fact conservative. On the other hand, humorous political TV spoofs, like Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, Bill Maher’s Real Time, or The Colbert Report, tend to have a liberal bias. Similarly, the major networks — CBS, NBC, and ABC — are liberal bastions. So are most of our motion pictures and documentaries. The most prestigious and oldest grant-giving foundations — Rockefeller, Ford, MacArthur, and Guggenheim — are liberal leaning. Likewise are the majority of universities, from the most prestigious, like Harvard, to the largest, such as the California State University system. Yet, do we want a counter-editorial to everything a Katie Couric chooses to present as news at dinnertime? Or should we demand that Republicans match Democratic numbers on college faculties, or as graduation speakers and grant recipients? Should conservatives be provided an equal-time trailer at the end of Fahrenheit 9/11 or Syriana? The truth is that savvy Americans navigate well enough on their own through our various partisan genres. Liberals flip through the New York Times, tune into NPR on the way to work, and rave about a movie or documentary damning the Iraq war. Conservatives call into Rush or Hannity, check blogs for their news, and watch Bill O’Reilly on cable. There is a sort of irony in the debate over talk radio. Of all our media, it is perhaps the most populist. A radio host requires neither a journalism degree nor political connections. He just needs sheer talent. The unforgiving market — judged by how many turn the dial to your show or call in with questions — alone adjudicates success. Liberals who profess affinity for the little guy should welcome this prairie-fire revolt against the more highbrow New York Times, CBS News, or NPR. Finally, is the new politicking on radio any different from what goes on, in subtler fashion, elsewhere? Liberal media do not consider themselves biased, since selecting what story appears on the front page or leads the evening network news is far more nuanced partisanship than a Michael Savage screaming about the latest liberal transgression. Yet that does not mean that Walter Cronkite’s famous on-air declaration that the Vietnam War could not be won was any less political. Or how about Dan Rather’s pre-election assurances that a forged memo about George Bush’s National Guard service was authentic? Rather than promoting government audit of our opinion media, liberals should master talk radio and cable news. And conservatives should work harder at providing counter-voices in Hollywood, on the campuses, and amid the major networks and newspapers. Then let the best men and women win in the free arena of ideas and entertainment.

Why do people say All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, etc. have "sold out?"? Selling out means not caring about your fans and changing your music style just for money and radio airplay. ATL/BLG cussed the venue they were performing in, risking helluva lot, to defend their fans. What "sellout" would apologize to their fans for a missed show? And have free meet and greets after every show? The Hustler Fan Club and Heros/Heroines isn't a fanclub for money, it comes with goodies that are worth a whole lot more than 25 or 35 dollars. A T-shirt, a wristband, presales, chance of meet & greets, discount in the store. That sounds to be worth a lot more than 25 dollars. And they haven't changed their music. You can't have an album exactly the same as your previous album. They just changed their sound a little to match the new tastes of their old fanbase. They haven't gone "mainstream." TWO songs on ATL's album is pop-ish, the rest is great. Same with BLG. Just because the most well known songs are bad, doesn't mean the other songs are bad. Check them out, they are so not mainstream. Whether it's used on the radio or not, Damned If I Do Ya, Weightless, Love Drunk, and Heart Heart Heartbreak are great songs, and if you don't like them and think they've turned into pop bands, why not listen to their other stuff? The whole Six Flags fiasco is about fans crowding the stage during All Time Low's show. Fans were maced by security, and All Time Low stood up for them. But they were locked on their buses and banned from Six Flags for doing so, because they cussed at security trying to defend helpless fans. That doesn't sound like something a "sellout" would do. Those four songs I listed are the only mainstream songs of each band I can possibly think of...besides Two Is Better Than One, and that was a duet with Taylor Swift, obviously it's gonna be on the radio. There are 12 songs on Nothing Personal and 11 on Love Drunk. 2 of the songs on NP and 3 on LD are pop-ish. If you don't like those songs, don't listen to them. But those few songs doesn't make them sellouts. Stella, Hello Brooklyn, Walls, Too Much, is just like their old stuff.
Are today's soap operas outdated, redundant, and obsolete? Soap operas were started on the radio shows prior to the television boom. Since then, we have been entertained by daytime game shows (which help boost brain power), talk shows (when it comes to 2 month old Jabarri, Chris, you are not the father!!), and informative news shows. Soap operas are about as entertaining as a side show at the circus. I know people who live their lives as a soap opera. They have someone who is their sworn enemy in real life, and they go around causing havoc on the happy people of the world. To me it is sad that people choose to live in such drama and cause strife because they were influenced by something seen on TV. Is it just me, or, is it time to pull the plug on the remaining soap operas that just regurgitates the same story line over and over? The only thing that may change is the technology, gender, or races of this circus. Lets free these veteran soap stars from their life sentences in the soap opera world. Your thoughts?
first ever movie script[only 1 r 2 scenes so far] read if you have time and give feedback please? Balian wrote on 02:28AM at Jun 13th, 2008 INT. BEDROOM - MORNING NARARATOR Meet Jim, your average man, the man you never notice, the man who works the nine to five day job everyday without fail, the lonely man, you get the picture. We are looking at a small room, covered with grey wallpaper with the odd painting of a woman half dressed standing in front of a small fence, but with her breasts covered in duct-tape. The floor is dressed with white carpet and as clean as clean can get. In the corner of the room is a small single mattress bed with a black duvet covering the frame of a man tossing and turning mumbling constantly to himself. ALARM CLOCK- RINGING At precisely 7.00am Jim opens his eyes and stares at the ceiling before letting out a huge sigh JIM Wednesday the 11th of June, another day for me to do what I do best……let the world know I don’t exist. Jim stands to his feet, stretching both arms as wide as he can , looking like he is about to fly away. He stares at the painting of the woman. JIM You should be glad I covered you up, cant be having you all nudely naked , distgusting behaviour for a woman of your beauty. Jim then turns around and starts to walk towards the bathroom which is threw one damp and worn out looking brown door, he pushes his way past and into his small bathroom, consisting of a green lino floor and white tiled walls. One small mirror, a bathtub with a shower appliance, an overused toilet by the looks of it and a sink placed in front of the small mirror.Jim stands in front of the mirror and looks at himself. He is a man of petit stature a man in his early forthys, with short but curly black hair and tired eyes and a small twitch on his bottom lip, a slightly hairy chest revealed threw his un-buttoned blue pyjama top. JIM Ahhhh….look its me again, I need a new mirror, maybe then I might look better, maybe a brad pitt mirror, mmm note to self stop at mirror shop and buy a brad pitt mirror. Jim grabs his red toothbrush and dabbles it with toothpaste before taking it to his mouth and brushing, slowly but surely, up and down and side to side, he places his toothbrush back into its little pocket on the wall and rinses his mouth out. JIM la la la la di dom dom, my name is Jim Cooper and I am your man of the year, ah who am I kidding? I work at an airport, hav’nt even got employee of the month or a free sandwich. Jim walks towards his closet when he sets his eyes on the painting on the wall again, and thinks to himself shall he have one peek of what is under the dark grey duct-tape, but he fights his over whelming temptation and moves towards the closet. CUT TO KITCHEN TABLE Jim is standing at his wooden two person table rushing his last bit of breakfeast wearing his airport desk clerk uniform consisting of a blue t-shirt, a white blazer and black pants, which in fact are too small for him , and showing his cotton white socks . JIM Mmmm.. Why cant the world be made of you captian crunch delicious cereal, but you always keep me late don’t you captian, yup yup you sure do, but I forgive you as you taste so damn good. Jim places the bowl on the table and proceeds to walk out the door, keys in one hand and a small brown suitcase containing his lunch and a pen. CUT TO JIM ENTERING CAR Jim walks out of his appartment building and into the car park which is just to the left of the building, car park has about 50 spaces , but only 4 cars remain in it ,one of them been Jim’s. Jim jingles his keys in his hands with a sad and lonely look on his face , and brushing his small curly hair back with the free hand. Stops beside an old run down green Toyota Corolla and slots his key into the lock on the door,it takes a few attempts but finally gets the door unlocked and enters, re-adjusting his rear view mirror. The radio comes on playing a heavy metal band screaming very loudly, Jim winches before turning it off Jim I just don’t get it , why do these young people have to shout, what ever happened to billy ocean? At least that was calm and… Before Jim gets to finish his sentence another song comes on the radio,it’s a pop song ,Jim looks bemused before driving off, not even bothering to turn the radio off as he knows another song he dislikes will just be on the next radio station. CUTS TO JIM PULLING INTO EMPLOYEE PARKING AREA Jim parks his car and shuts off the engine and begins to step out of the car, when a small chubby man with a bald spot the size of China on his head and also in his early 40’s runs towards him waving his hands and a slight limp GARY Hey Jim! Jim! Hey, hey , whats up man? Did you see channel 5 last night ,woooooooo man they had some nice ******* on there, Hey Jim! Jim! , guess what??? C’ mon guess!! Jim What gaaary !!!???!! Gary The stewardess’s from Europe arrived in at about 5am, I gotta get me a piece of that man, can u imagine? Bang bang whishk whishk…..ha huh huh? You with me? Jim Leave me alone Gary Jim walks threw the sliding doors as Gary stops just before still with a huge smile on his face GARY Ok Jim, catch you later my man !! Jim walks down a wide hallway covered in blue and white wallpaper and a shining wooden floor with stickers ;BAIL-AIRWAYS; He comes to a electronic doorway where he swipes his employee card. The card dosent work, so he tries again. A security guard at the other side looks at him as if Jim was about to ask a question, SECURITY GUARD Having a problem sir? JIM Ah ya my card wont work !! SECURITY GUARD Are you sure? Try it again Jim swipes it again but still no result The security guard then takes his card and swiped it true, working on the first attempt. Jim then walks true but abruptly stopped by the guard. SECURITY GUARD Woooo where you goin buddy JIM To work SECURITY GUARD Goin to need to see some I.D JIM Are you kidding? I have been workin here for 12 years !! SECURITY GUARD C’mon just let me see your I.D Jim pulls out his I.D from his left blazer pocket and shows it to the guard with a sarcastic look on his face and sighs before walking to his locker in the staff room just to the left of the security door.
comments on this.poem? "Those Old Songs" It doesn't matter where I am It doesn't matter where I've been Because whenever I turn the radio on I start reminicing with those old songs They take me back to a place in time A few years ago when you were mine We used to sing them all night long That's why I love those old songs It doesn't matter what they're about Love or life, hope or doubt And still I can't figure it out Why I love those old songs Maybe it's because they used to be Something that connected you and me When we were young a fancy free Those old songs The first time we made love We had the radio cranked right up Every word and every touch Flowed with those old songs Now I know they're just a part of the past Shows you how good things don't last But if I could I'd go back in flash When we used to sing those old songs.
Anyone want to rate my story (if you have time on your hands?) Please? Not too long...? Do you think my story so far took off too early? This is the VERY first part, so did it have action right away? Thanks so much! (By the way, strange things happen later on because she is a witch, but the good kind. Throughout the story, she is pretty much developing as a teen witch. She has to get used to using magic. So anyway, enjoy!) Chapter One [excerpt] not done yet _______________________________ Laurie Kentt walked slowly down her sidewalk on the cool, crisp autumn afternoon, making her way down to 67 Ellway Rose Lane, her home sweet home. She dreamed of her mother's chocolate chip cookies, especially after the day at school, and hours of shopping at mall. The day's events soared through her mind, slowly and carefully, as she had time to remember the day: school had been just as uneventful as ever, with boring lessons and crumpled notes being passed around. After school, Laurie went to the mall with Ashlee Parker, her best friend, and Jenny Kole, her other best friend. They shopped for accessories, or as Jenny called them, "extra trash to bring home." Jenny was obviously not a shopaholic, unlike Ashlee and Laurie. School had just started a week ago, but it felt like a year, so obviously after a year of school you buy things--atleast in their world. When Laurie got to the front steps of her house, she looked up: the bright green color of the house looked freshly painted, even though it was a year old, and the medium sized house was a compliment to the scene of red and gold leaves surrounding the house. "Laurie? Are you home?" asked Laurie's mom, Kathryn Kentt, from the kitchen. "Yeah Mom, I'm home," she yelled back. She dropped her bag on the couch as she entered the living room. Her father was obviously not home, as he was an architect working at his office, making designs for big companies. Laurie walked quickly to the kitchen when the smell of freshly baked cookies came from the oven. Her mother was taking the cookies out of the oven and had set them on a glass tray to cool off by the time Laurie sat down. "Good day, honey?" her mother asked. "Yeah Mom." Laurie replied. "We went to the mall. Ashlee's mom drove us. Then she picked up after an hour." "I know," said her mother, "Debby called me." "Who's Debby?" Laurie asked, while she picked up a cookie. "Ashlee's mom." she answered. "Oh," said Laurie. She bit into the corner of a cookie, and the chocolate chips was melted in the cookie, the way her mother usually made them. After eating a few more cookies (with milk) she went up to her room. Thank god Mrs. Miller didn't give math homework, thought Laurie. It was a Friday afternoon, and Laurie was free from school since two thirty, now being three forty-five. She decided to go online, but realized her Internet connection went out. She groaned. This rarely happened, but when it did (last time being six months ago), it didn't turn on for atleast a few days. "I have nothing to do! Turn on! Stupid connection," she muttered. Then the light on the screen showing the connection turned green. Internet Connected, it now said. "Yes!" she cheered. She went on her blog, E-mailed her friends, and after a few games of online sudoku, she turned the computer off. "Laurie, phone for you!" shouted her mother from downstairs. "Coming!" she yelled back. She ran down the stairs, and took the phone from her mother. She sprinted upstairs before talking. "Hello?" she said. "Hey," said a familiar voice. "Yeah, hey," said another voice. "Hey guys," Laurie said to Ashlee and Jenny. "What's up?" said Jenny. "Nothing. Why'd you call?" said Laurie, turning the radio on. Her favorite song, Here, was playing. "Just to hear your radio." said Ashlee. "Turn it down, will you?" "Sorry, it's Here. " she said. "Well, of course it's there, it's not here, is it? said Jenny. "No, my favorite song, Here." she explained. "Oh," they said. "So," said Jenny, "You know where Aberell Park is, right?" she asked. "The one near Lincoln Avenue?" Laurie asked. "Yeah. There's a concert there tonight. You know Heaven Sent, right? They're playing." said Ashlee, calmly. "No way!" Laurie yelled into the reciever. "Heaven Sent? Why is that band playing in this small town?" "Well, you don't have to come..." started Jenny, sounding let down, but Laurie interrupted. "Are you joking? Of COURSE I'm coming! What time is it?" Laurie asked. "Nine! It'll probably end at midnight...oh, will your mom mind?" asked Ashlee. "No, maybe not...I'll ask. Hold on." Laurie raced downstairs and asked her mom if she could go. "How far is the park?" her mother asked, frowning. "Two blocks," said Laurie, confidently. "Well....Oakville is pretty safe at night...I suppose you can go. Don't stay out too late." she advised. "YES!" she yelled into the phone when she was back upstairs. "Oh, this is gonna be so fun!" said Jenny. "I know!" said Ashlee. "Come over, you two! We so need outfits." oh, and her name is "lorie" but i liked that spelling. "Oh. My. Gosh." were Ashlee's first words when she came. "What?" said Laurie, then realizing Ashlee or Jenny never had seen her closet before. Being the daughter of a famous architect, she was pretty rich. Obviously, she had a lot of clothes. A lot of clothes. "Hey, could we borrow an outfit?" said Jenny, eyeing Laurie's filled-to-burst closet. "Definitely," said Laurie. It was five when they started to choose. By the time they were done, it was eight. This shows just how many outfits Laurie's closet provided. Ashlee wore a white tank top with a denim jacket and dark jeans. Jenny took so long just to choose a simple blue sweater and a dark denim jeans, with a beige sweater. Laurie wore a black dress with a matching black jacket (nights weren't very cold, but the jacket suited her so well, she decided to go with it). They had an hour to do whatever they pleased, and they decided to watch a random movie. The movie had barely started when it was time to go. They all le The movie had barely started when it was time to go. They all left and decided to walk (only after Laurie's mother made sure everyone had a cell phone and their parents knew about the concert) to the park. It was a short walk, and within minutes they reached the park. The concert stage was set up, and there were fans everywhere. Luckily, they gave the tickets to the person standing outside of the gates and they were let in. There were benches everywhere. They raced to the front and sat down. The park was almost crowded; they felt lucky to have seats-front row seats. "Omigosh!" said Ashlee. "I can't believe Heaven Sent is performing!" "Neither can I!" said Laurie. "You know, a couple of days ago, I wished Heaven Sent would come here. And I wished we would be able to go. Just look...here we are!" said Jenny. "Well, how'd you wish for it?" said Laurie. "I just thought, 'I wish Heaven Sent could perform and we could go,' after I heard their song, 'Shower You With Love'-it rocks "I just thought, 'I wish Heaven Sent could perform and we could go,' after I heard their song, 'Shower You With Love'-it rocks!" said Jenny. "I love that song!" said Ashlee. "Me too!" said Laurie
Do Liberals get a free pass? With racism??? Look at these quotes I've found by these sick, hateful, people known as Liberals. Just by doing a simple internet search THOUSANDS have came up. Imagine how many more go unknown? I wonder what they say behind closed doors... Hmmmm "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Nigro by my side ... Seeking to discredit King in any way possible, Byrd initiated contact with the FBI in early 1968 and suggested that he could give a speech condemning King on the floor of the Senate. He said it was time that Dr. King “met his Waterloo.” The FBI, however, declined to avail itself of Byrd’s offer. I LOL at liberals who have no comebacks... sad really The first quote was by ROBERT BYRD, by the way.
Best software to introduce my 80-year-old grandmother to computers? My grandmother is so behind the times she still uses cassettes to record radio. It's become so bad her favorite radio station switched from analog to digital and she's left with nothing to do all day. I want to get her to learn to use a computer with me assisting her via a remote control software that i control from my home. I'm going to get her a large screen laptop, and just show her how to turn it on. I would like for her to learn to do simple tasks like turn on Skype or send an email or learn to open emails and look at pictures and maybe even open web pages. I know that's a lot for an elderly person with a touch of dementia but she said she is willing to learn. She used to record radio onto cassettes with an old boom-box, so i know she can do things. Is there a good software that can make doing and learning those tasks easier for her? like elderly software? or any good recommendations for remote control software that's reliable and safe? I don't want to pay a monthly fee just either use a free or buy the software.
HAS NAPSTER AND LIMEWIRE KILLED THE MUSIC INDUSTRY? Yes I know there is still music being made LOL. However concerts are less common and even small shows have seemed to have taken a hit. Music stores are slumping and radio play is atrocious. Some of the older musicians have stated that "the money is not what it was". Has the free internet downloads driven away the motivation for a lot of talented artists to make good music? I say talented and good music because the Katie Perry and Kesha garbage is still getting play time.
TNA World Title Dream Match "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs "Mr. Monday Night" & "Mr. Pay Per View" Rob Van Dam? The only man ever to hold the WWE Championship and ECW World Heavyweight Championship simultaneously in the WWE 2006. Rob Van Dam is leaning towards the option of signing with TNA Wrestling he said before that he doesn't want to go back to work for the WWE because of the busy travel schedule. The Hulkster is really trying to bring this free agent talent to TNA Wrestling he recruited Rob Van Dam on a live radio show and Rob Vam Dam would be happy with signing with TNA Wrestling and the 4 Sided Ring would be great to work with. I mean both of these guys are so evenly matched up I think Rob Van Dam has a little more experience though he wrestled in ECW, WCW, WWE and various other independent promotions. Rob Van Dam has always been one of my favorite wrestlers because he is unique and he combines his high flying moves with his martial arts style he is very innovative and unique in his wrestling style. I know that AJ did wrestle Jerry Lynn for the X Division Title in TNA a few times if they were to have a match similar to that one in TNA who would win this dream match AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam in TNA Wrestling? BQ: When Jeff Hardy made his surprise debut on Impact in 2004 the only time he wrestled AJ Styles One on One was in that debut Jeff Hardy never won any titles in TNA Wrestling. I'm sure if they brought him to TNA Wrestling would you want to see AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in Extreme Rules?? BQ1: Who would win this match? Rob Van Dam vs. AJ Styles either non-title or for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship? Give your reasons and elaborate on your answer best one gets the 10 Points. BQ2: Is Ric Flair trying to mentor AJ Styles and partner up with him just like he did in the old Evolution's days in the WWE with Triple H when he was the World Heavyweight Champion? TNA Rankings Top 5 1. Kurt Angle 2. AJ Styles 3. Rob Van Dam 4. Jeff Hardy 5. HAVE YOU STAYED AT PACIFIC GARDEN MISSION(HOMELESS SHELTER)? HAVE YOU STAYED AT PACIFIC GARDEN MISSION(HOMELESS SHELTER)? Well, I have. Since Jan 1,2011. and the good things out weigh the bad things hundred fold. Pacific Garden Mission (PGM) provide overnight shelter to Woman, children, and men. Providing 3 meals a day-sure there are are a few complaints about the meals because some people expect to get full all the time or expect a free hilton meal. At PGM - for breakfast you might get grits and eggs w/pastries..., oat meal, 2hotcakes (most times with 2sausage)...and for Lunch maybe soup w/a sandwich..and dinner is the most popular...you might get spegittiw/meat saucew/bread- or beansw/rice...or pasta w/chicken. But you definately get the GOSPEL. The Word of GOD is shared or teached 3-4-5 times a day.To put cream on the cake, after you have had a hot shower and laid in your clean bed and falling asleep, you will get the last word of GOD (some scriptures) read to you as you fall asleep at night around 10pm. If you don't beleive in GOD or don't want to hear that. sometimnes you can just gop sit in the hall, but most stay and clap and enjoy the Word of God [ Like Me ] ...Pacific Garden Mission is ran like a business and is well organized and ran by GOD fearing men and woman.Just the other day - to my surprise - I walked into the auditorium while they were doing/recording a professional radio show. I mention a few bad things at the beginning, its not really bad just something you can expect when you put 500-600 people in one room together, [ you have to put up with snoring at night, loud talking at bedtime and during tv watching ( PGM have a BIG screen TV - WOW) for us who decide to stay in doors 24/7...but thats a goodthing.PGM don't allow fighting in and around the Bldg., loud interuptions during service. disrespecting people ect;...Every morning PGM encourage everyone to leave and go see/call your family or to leave to do something positive with your life. PGM provide a free Doctor, Dentist, Clothes,Haircut, and more.So you might ask why would anyone want to leave and try 'n find a JOB...Well...My personal answer is - Good things don't last always - although many compasionate christainsand non-christians support PGM finciancially, one must not take GOD goodness for granted-in my opinion, thats why I still look for a job almost everyday. Well, I must end now. Sure I am Homeless and don't have any real materialistic things in life, but I beleive in GOD and beleive JESUS died for me/us...and know GOD is not thur with me yet.so that's why I am not too stressed out. BYE-GOD BLESS. WRITE ME - JACK DONALDOSN [ NOT EMAIL BUT U.S. MAIL TO : PACIFIC GARDEN MISSION 1458 S. Canal Street, Chicago IL 60607 Atten: Jack Donaldson. THIS WILL LET ME AND PGM KNOW YOU READ THIS AND I WILL SHARE MOST RESPONSES WITH PGM. FYI BELOW: Since 1877, Pacific Garden Mission has been a refuge. Millions weary of struggling through life's storms, have come to the "Old Lighthouse” seeking food, shelter, clothing, medical, and dental care. They also came seeking the answer to life’s struggles. They are offered the answer: life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Are you just as sick of hearing about where LeBron might go as I? Oh my Jay-Hova! I am tired of hearing, day in and day out, for the past 1-2 weeks, about where, o where, LeBron might go. The man is a great player (and that "great" should be capitalized) and is rightly deserving of his MVP accolades. I'm not arguing about his greatness, I'm arguing that his free agent plans are a non-story. The guy has said nothing new to reporters, yet program directors, radio show personalities, and writers are still muscling in time for endless conjecture, speculation, introspection, and musings about him being a Net, or Knick, or Cav. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. I'm 31 years old, so the only comparable stories in my lifetime in terms of how much press they received might be when Magic announced he had HIV, anytime Jordan retired, Kobe's case, when Shaq left the Lakers, and when Garnett (and Allen) joined the Celtics. Let's rank these, shall we? The press for Magic's announcement was justifiable. The guy was a 5-time champ, and was 1 of 2 guys from that era who literally saved the NBA from extinction. Plus, HIV is pretty serious--almost everyone watching and reading about Magic's ill fortune presumed he'd be dead in a year. Jordan's retirements, like his championships, came in 3's, but were justifiable simply on the strength that the first two times he retired, it was directly after winning a 3rd championship. And it wasn't a foregone conclusion after any of his retirements that he'd be back, ever. Kobe's case came out of nowhere--he went from being America's boy next door to being an alleged rapist. He'll never live that down. And, like Jordan, this came shortly after he'd won 3 championships and was hunting for his fourth. Quite simply, this was by far the worst thing that Kobe Bryant could have done or gotten himself into. And when Shaq left it was the end of an era. Shaq was, and is, a media darling. Like LeBron, they couldn't get enough of him, even though unlike LeBron, Shaq was (and is) well known for offering venemous, spiteful quotes about his teammates, coaches, team execs, etc. Either way, when Shaq left, he was leaving as the most successful and accomplished player in the game, not just a guy who was widely "considered" great. Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett did for the Celtics what Larry Bird did for them in 1979--they revitalized the team and made the franchise relevant again. But unlike the speculation about LeBron, them going to the C's wasn't a big story until almost moments before it happened. Nor was it made a big story DURING the NBA conference championships, even though both guys were, like LeBron, watching the playoffs from their living rooms. I'm just saying, it's getting pretty nauseating to keep watching and listening to the idol worship that this non-story has become. Can we please focus on the 4 teams left in the playoffs???
Why are black women seen as loose in terms of being sexual? It seems that black women are regarded as being more loose than others. This can be traced back to slavery days when the master raped the black woman. What I don't understand is what is it exactly that makes black women loose? What characteristics? What was attributed the causes to make others think they are loose that led up to 2010? because it seems that white women and other women are ignored in their sexuality. I think white women are more loose because its seen on tv and across college campuses. I myself go to a predominant black university but a friend of mine goes to a Catholic predominant white university. She tells me about how loose white women are in terms of sleeping around. She even had a white male ask her why she did not have a phuck buddy. Just to be real with it everybody has sexual needs and urges but it seems that its acceptable to sleep around even if you aren't in a relationship. Me I'm old fashioned so I would like to get to know some woman before I participate in sexual acts. Anyway I digress on my preferences. It seems that women like Kim Kardshian Britney Spears Paris Hilton get a free pass in terms of how they are criticized in the media about sexual acts however Montana Fishburne (Lawerence Fishburne's daughter) who just recently started doing porn is looked down upon. She's loose she's a ho because she's black. Even Jamie Foxx says on his radio show that Montana wouldn't make it because she can't pull a Kim Kardshian or a Paris Hilton. I also hear countless stories from black men about how much sex they get from white women and how its just sooo easy. When you turn on the tv to a rap video thats what you see.... black women shaking it but in that same aspect Girls Gone Wild videos, Hooters restaurants, brothels, and strip clubs have white women that are ignored most of the time. So again why are black women regarded as loose and how did white women get a pass on being seen as loose? No racial remarks no stupid answers. If you have brain use it to effectively answer the question.
Dehumanization of society by conforming? What do u guys think of this poem? He was found by the Bureau of Statistics to be One against whom there was no official complaint, And all the reports on his conduct agree That, in the modern sense of an old-fashioned word, he was a saint, For in everything he did he served the Greater Community. Except for the War till the day he retired He worked in a factory and never got fired, But satisfied his employers, Fudge Motors Inc. Yet he wasn't a scab or odd in his views, For his Union reports that he paid his dues, (Our report on his Union shows it was sound) And our Social Psychology workers found That he was popular with his mates and liked a drink. The Press are convinced that he bought a paper every day And that his reactions to advertisements were normal in every way. Policies taken out in his name prove that he was fully insured, And his Health-card shows he was once in a hospital but left it cured. Both Producers Research and High-Grade Living declare He was fully sensible to the advantages of the Instalment Plan And had everything necessary to the Modern Man, A phonograph, a radio, a car and a frigidaire. Our researchers into Public Opinion are content That he held the proper opinions for the time of year; When there was peace, he was for peace: when there was war, he went. He was married and added five children to the population, Which our Eugenist says was the right number for a parent of his generation. And our teachers report that he never interfered with their education. Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd: Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.

What are some good kid worthy songs for summer... ones that don't suck? Hello ya'll. I work for a summer camp and we go on alot of field trips. We are mandated to ONLY listen to Radio Disney. This is godawful, the same songs in a loop every hour. It's torture for the counselors and older kids. I'm looking for a happy medium. The exception to this is that we are allowed to make mix CD's. I plan on making a radio show (segments, ads, PSAs, and well mixed music) that is fun to listen to. I want GOOD music (i know that's an opinion) that young adults, "cool kids" and lil youngin's can agree on. NO cheetah girls, britney spears, kids bop, or other kinda BULL. Keep in mind I can edit out any small bad words, but not if it leads up to it. I.E. "...time to pass, wipe my a**" Know what I mean? And obviously NO innuendos, sex themes, or anything that's deemed "inappropriate" by snarky parents. Also, if anyone knows where I can get royalty free sound effects, and PSAs? Thanks people.
How much do you know? Knowledgeable News Audiences News audiences vary widely in age, education, and how much they know about what's going on in the nation and the world. Most regular consumers of news are better informed, better educated, and older than the average American. But the audiences for some news sources stand out in this respect. Judged by their answers to three news knowledge questions2, the most informed audiences belong to the political magazines, Rush Limbaugh's radio show, the O'Reilly Factor, news magazines, and online news sources. Audiences with the highest educational achievement, by far, are the literary magazines and online news outlets. Readers of news magazines, political magazines and business magazines, listeners of Rush Limbaugh and NPR. Some of these attentive and educated audiences also are older than average. The oldest audiences belong to the NewsHour (60% age 50 or older), the O'Reilly Factor (58%), Larry King Live (56%), network nightly news (54%), and Sunday morning talk shows (52%). Drama Advice - did i do the right thing? Is This friend trying to embarrass me and make me look bad on purpose? I met a girl through a mutual friend. She has a boyfriend and I don't. She is constantly seeking attention from other guys. There is this one guy I like and she told him I liked him. It was really embarrassing because I do like the guy but didn't want him to know. As soon as I told her she made a Bline to get his attention. More so even though she had a boyfriend she began to text the guy A week earlier she kept telling waiters at a restaurant I liked them and I was really embarrassed. I played it off like Yeah.. I think you are jinjja kyopta (really cute) but inside I wanted to crawl in a hole and die. I am a outgoing person and if I like someone I tell them on my own time. I never liked that waiter guy at all but now I can't go back there cause I'm really embarrassed. A couple situations came up even before then. I met a guy and we talked intimately. I met him with her and we went out. She gave him her number even though she had a boyfriend and agreed to meet him for lunch. Never once did she think meeting this guy who was intimate with me and 10 years older than her was wrong. The only thing she kept saying was how childish I was for being upset because it was platonic. I tried to explain to her that friends dont offer their friends romantic interests numbers or agree to platonic lunches without their friends. She didnt get it. THerefore when i confronted the guy we argued and it was chaos. When we were at our mutual friends house and she asked this person to bring a karaoke machine to a party. When I said it she immediately changed her mind like It was my idea in the first place. I was hurt.. so I told her to stop calling me out like that. I didnt get into it but she didn't say anything after that. More so I we all work were going to work together. I want to get along with her but she keeps putting me in predicaments where its more work for me or I have to put out more money in or more time. I wrote three articles that were suppose to be hers and now her actions and shit talking have jeopardize my job and I was fired. The person who wanted to put the site together for us wanted someone to design it for free. I found someone that happened to work with my friend on a radio show. When she was upset with him she lied to the boss person about him. Saying he was in legal trouble when he wasnt. I told her to not say anything because it would put the magazine at risk and set us back. She didnt listen and therefore he was let go. We were then in a predictament because no one would work joomla coding for free and she was only temporary mad at this guy. More so that she became friends with him again and worked for him even though she shit talked about him and got him thrown off a project that was mutual benefically to all of us. She made me look like a total fool for recommending him and he never knew it was her that got him thrown off? More so during a party she wanted me to look at her friends site to recommend him. I didnt want to be the person to recommend someone new just in case if it ended badly. I looked at the sites and found that they had no java or joomla. I said we can talk about it later and she began to CRY. Now mind you shes filipina and 5'1.. Im not. So anytimes she cries people run to her like this poor thing is crying.. Its ridiculously disconcerning. The design now was a highschool version of wordpress and looks aweful and I dont want my name apart of it. Seriously I wish I never left my other position blogging at NINGIN for this drama.. So One minute shes laughing then crying hysterically then laughing again. More so she put me in a predicament where it looked like I made her cry. SO in the end I was fired and im not friends with her. But should I seen it comming? Was this person trying to sabotage my relationships or take my place? I brought her into my friendship fold because I wanted to help her. I introduced her and her radio family into getting press access. I gave without expecting anything in return except true friendship. There is more. I had an engagement i needed to attend but instead I accompanied a another coworker to a redcarpet event so she could get stuff for her byline. This friend could have accompanied my coworker.. but she said she had a fever and was exhausted. I learned that she left new york to go stay over my friends house.. they went to the movies and had a bbq.. while I was stuck doing double duty in the city. Also that coworker choked when it came to interviewing the artists. I wouldnt ask one question for Its not my byline. I am all for teamwork but I will not do work and not get paid or a byline. The coworker told the boss that I didnt help her. I stayed out to 9 am and was late for my own things becaus eof her. Not once but two days in a row. The first day I had a jrock concert to attend. Couldnt do that because she wanted to watch t
What does this dream mean? Heres one of my stranger dreams: I dont know if this is important first but before I feel asleep I was mildly drunk as I had been at a dinner party with some friends. I was in a house, I’m not sure if it was my parents, or a friends but it appeared that there was some sort of radio show host recording a radio show. The dream didn’t feature any of the content of the radio show, it just included the fact that it was there happening. The show quickly ended and everyone left. I was holding the door and people were leaving I shook there hand. In the crowd there was a combination of people I knew from college, and people I didn’t know. Though everyone appeared to enjoy themselves and thank me. After everyone left my parents were in the room chatting with the radio show host. There were a few people left, but they appeared to be close acquaintances of my parents. I sat down on a chair and had and started sipping on a drink which looked like a whiskey or a scotch. I noticed that outside on the patio somebody was sitting. I thought that person would be cold as it was the night and the person was dressed in only dinner “classy clothes”. As I looked closer it appeared to be an ex girlfriend of mine. I have to take a step back and explain the significance of this character. This girl (a British foreign exchange student I knew last year in college) was only the second girl I had “got with”. I really liked her, and we had alot in common. To my dismay I later learned that she was a bit of a skank and had “been with” more guys than I can count on my hands. She also had a boyfriend back in her home. Anyhow back to the narrative. I said to my parents I was tired and I was going home and would see them tomorrow for dinner. I went back to my “home” (odd since in reality I live in a college rez about 500 km away) which in the dream was a basement suite of a older American couple (I live in Canada in reality) who had John McCain/Republican signs on their front lawn. The narrative then shifted to the next evening back at the place which was ostensibly my parents house. I was standing up socializing and having a drink with a few family friends and this British girl I mentioned earlier was there. She walked back up beside me and announced that we were back together. Everyone seemed pleased. The dream narrative then again shifted. This time I was in a town I used to live in and with me was a friend from college who is also an RA (Resident Advisor, a senior student who takes a leadership role in college rez Resident assistant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). This friend used to live in a town beside my town. We appeared to be dressed as detectives or something and were walking. We walked into the mall in this town I used to live in. Now this mall in the dream was much bigger than it was in reality, it looked like a mega mall center. We were walking quickly as if we had to be somewhere. While we were walking we passed a mutual friend who is the head RA on the team, and who is applying (but failed a part of the application) to be a cop. We nodded/waved at her then continued on and descended down a large starewell. Thats where the dream ended. A few tidbits: I've never lived in a basement suite, the house I was in was familar but clearly not my parents house. The town the mall was in was familar, but the building itself was an amalgamation of most urban structures and malls I have been in.
Would you vote for someone with this kind of track record? (1) In 2005 Somerville police officer Keith Winfield was strongly suspected of raping and genitally burning his 23-month-old niece with a hot curling iron. As DA, Coakley headed a unit that investigated without taking action at first, and later allowed him to be released on personal recognizance with no cash bail. Winfield ultimately was prosecuted by Coakley’s successor as DA and given two life sentences. And remember, the details of this story critical of Coakley appeared in the ultra-liberal Boston Globe (note the angry tone of the comments to the piece, as well). (2) In 2008 a father punched out a janitor in a Market Basket supermarket because he found the employee reaching in under a bathroom stall in the men’s room to touch the leg of the man’s 4-year old child while the boy was urinating. The illegal alien janitor was charged with indecent assault (he later no showed at his hearing), but the boy’s father was also charged with assault. Coakley’s comment on a radio show? “We really discourage people from self-help.” (3) Coakley was originally lax in prosecuting the man who ended up being one of the most notorious of the Catholic priest child abusers, Father Geoghan. In her defense in this case, however, is the fact that at the time the evidence first came into her hands (mid-90s), such cases were very difficult to prosecute. Read the whole thing for the rather complex details. (4) But Coakley’s worst performance by far came in connection with the Fells Acres day care child abuse case (please read the entire link to get a flavor of the situation). Gerald (”Tookie”) Amirault, along with his elderly mother and sister, had been convicted during the day care child sex abuse scare of the 80s. But he was widely known to be innocent by the time Coakley came on the scene as DA, and his mother and sister had been freed years before. Gerald had received a unanimous recommendation from the parole board for his release. But in 2001 Coakley lobbied that he be kept in prison, and she was successful. As a result, an innocent man was kept behind bars for another three full years to add to the fifteen he had already served.
need help with my story.? hi, now i usuallly go against putting any original work on here, for the fact that people can steal it. but the thing is, i think i reallly need help with like grammar and punctation on here. Its just the beginning of my story and doesnt really tell much about my story so far, but i was just wondering what you guys think so far, i guess. please only serious inquiries, i really want to hear what you guys think. Chapter One: The Move. Being stuck in a car for twenty hours wasn’t exactly the way I wanted to spend my birthday. Instead of being home in Toronto spending my seventeenth birthday with all my friends and my soon to be boyfriend Michael, I was on the road headed to Saskatchewan. “Mom, How much longer is it now?” I asked for the thousandth time. I was laying down in the backseat listening to my own music. My mother didn’t have the best taste in music and I wasn’t about to spend this entire trip listening to Cher. “Lucy, we have only five hours left. If you ask me one more time I swear to god I will flip my lid!” Okay, whatever that means. The reason for the sudden move from the east to the west is that my parents just recently got divorced. My mother caught my dad in bed with a girl half his age. Since that day six months ago my mom snapped. She sold our house and her restaurant and bought a much smaller café in Balgonie, Saskatchewan. That’s where she grew up. “There is a town up ahead,” My mom said as she brushed her bleach blonde hair out of her face, “I think you better use the washroom. We wont be stopping for sometime after that.” I answered her by sliding down and putting my pillow over my face. I changed the song on my ipod to Lucy in the sky with diamonds by The Beatles. They were my favourite band and my dads too. The song was playing on the radio when my dad was rushing to the hospital with my very pregnant mother. He took it as a sign and named me Lucy. My dad has always been into music, at a very young age he tried putting me in all these lessons starting with piano. It didn’t stick long, the attention span of a three year old is very small. He currently works at the Air Canada Centre, where he gets free concert tickets to all the shows. I knew that this fact made me popular at my old school. Everyone wanted to be friends with the girl who had the connections. I remember when The Rolling Stones came through town, people were freaking out asking me if I could help them with tickets. I ended up taking Michael, my soon to be boyfriend. I’m not happy about my current situation. Having to switch schools, make new friends, and leave my brand new car behind ( a birthday present from my dad). It was a very tough decision but I wasn’t going to leave my mom alone. My dad had his new much younger girlfriend Kelly. Saying good bye to my friends was especially hard. Sammy has been my best friend since kindergarten, we went everywhere together. It wasn’t going to be the same going into town and trying on clothes without her. Sammy and Michael promised to keep in touch but I highly doubt that they will. The car comes to a halt and she hopes out of the car without a word. I remained still in the same position underneath my pillow. I peek out from the corner of the pillow and see a gas station attendant washing our windows. From down here he looked pretty cute. I sigh knowing this will be the last cute guy I would see. Where I was going the guys were probably all losers too. Minutes later my mother returned to the car and we were on our way once again. “Look Honey, I got you a cupcake.” “Oh thanks,” I said grabbing the small chocolate cupcake. “I know this isn’t the ideal way to spend your birthday. But think about it, in five short hours we will be in our new house. We can start a new life, wipe the slate clean. It will be good for us, I know it will.” “Awesome,” I say not really paying much attention to what she was saying. “ Oh by the way, David said he would drive your beetle down sometime during the summer, when he has time off work.” “What!” I yelled now paying full attention, “ Dad said he was going to bring it down in a couple weeks.” “I guess something came up at work.” “Fuck,” I said. “Watch your language young lady.” “Well What the hell am I supposed to do without a car?” I asked now sitting upright in the back. “ You can drive the Festiva for the time being.” “You have got to be joking,” I said putting my hands on my face. The Ford Festiva was a rundown car. I’m surprised it even made this trip. “ I will not be caught dead in this car.” “ Oh honey, this isn’t Toronto. People don’t judge you based on what you drive.” She said putting in one of the many CD`s she has by Cher. “Yeah, sure mom,” I said sliding back into position, “ See you in five hours.” I was asleep within minutes. Is there a coming, Liberal Thug-ocracy? http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/13/the-coming-thugocracy/print/ "I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors," Barack Obama told a crowd in Elko, Nev. "I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face." Actually, Obama supporters are doing a lot more than getting into people's faces. They seem determined to shut people up. That's what Obama supporters, alerted by campaign e-mails, did when conservative Stanley Kurtz appeared on Milt Rosenberg's WGN radio program in Chicago. Mr. Kurtz had been researching Mr. Obama's relationship with unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers in Chicago Annenberg Challenge papers in the Richard J. Daley Library in Chicago - papers that were closed off to him for some days, apparently at the behest of Obama supporters. Obama fans jammed WGN's phone lines and sent in hundreds of protest e-mails. The message was clear to anyone who would follow Mr. Rosenberg's example. We will make trouble for you if you let anyone make the case against The One. Other Obama supporters have threatened critics with criminal prosecution. In September, St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch and St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce warned citizens that they would bring criminal libel prosecutions against anyone who made statements against Mr. Obama that were "false." I had been under the impression that the Alien and Sedition Acts had gone out of existence in 1801-'02. Not so, apparently, in metropolitan St. Louis. Similarly, the Obama campaign called for a criminal investigation of the American Issues Project when it ran ads highlighting Mr. Obama's ties to Mr. Ayers. These attempts to shut down political speech have become routine for liberals. Congressional Democrats sought to reimpose the "fairness doctrine" on broadcasters, which until it was repealed in the 1980s required equal time for different points of view. The motive was plain: to shut down the one conservative-leaning communications medium, talk radio. Liberal talk-show hosts have mostly failed to draw audiences, and many liberals can't abide having citizens hear contrary views. To their credit, some liberal old-timers - like House Appropriations Chairman David Obey - voted against the "fairness doctrine," in line with their longstanding support of free speech. But you can expect the "fairness doctrine" to get another vote if Barack Obama wins and Democrats increase their congressional majorities. Corporate liberals have done their share in shutting down anti-liberal speech, too. "Saturday Night Live" ran a spoof of the financial crisis that skewered Democrats like House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank and liberal contributors Herbert and Marion Sandler, who sold toxic-waste-filled Golden West to Wachovia Bank for $24 billion. Kind of surprising, but not for long. The tape of the broadcast disappeared from NBC's Web site and was replaced with another that omitted the references to Mr. Frank and the Sandlers. Evidently NBC and its parent, General Electric, don't want people to hear speech that attacks liberals. Then there's the Democrats' "card check" legislation that would abolish secret ballot elections in determining whether employees are represented by unions. The unions' strategy is obvious: Send a few thugs over to employees' homes - we know where you live - and get them to sign cards that will trigger a union victory without giving employers a chance to be heard. Once upon a time, liberals prided themselves, with considerable reason, as the staunchest defenders of free speech. Union organizers in the 1930s and 1940s made the case that they should have access to employees to speak freely to them, and union leaders like George Meany and Walter Reuther were ardent defenders of the First Amendment. Today's liberals seem to be taking their marching orders from other quarters. Specifically, from the college and university campuses where administrators, armed with speech codes, have for years been disciplining and subjecting to sensitivity training any students who dare to utter thoughts that liberals find offensive. The campuses that once prided themselves as zones of free expression are now the least free part of our society. Obama supporters who found the campuses congenial and Mr. Obama himself, who has chosen to live all his adult life in university communities, seem to find it entirely natural to suppress speech they don't like and seem utterly oblivious to claims this violates the letter and spirit of the First Amendment. In this campaign, we have seen the coming of the Obama thugocracy, suppressing free speech, and we may see its flourishing in the four or eight years ahead.
In an attempt to shut down anti-liberal speech, will Obama's Thugocracy reinstate the fairness doctrine? Attempts to shut down political speech have become routine for liberals. Congressional Democrats sought to reimpose the “fairness doctrine” on broadcasters, which until it was repealed in the 1980s required equal time for different points of view. The motive was plain: to shut down the one conservative-leaning communications medium, talk radio. Liberal talk-show hosts have mostly failed to draw audiences, and many liberals can’t abide having citizens hear contrary views. To their credit, some liberal old-timers — like House Appropriations Chairman David Obey — voted against the “fairness doctrine,” in line with their longstanding support of free speech. But you can expect the “fairness doctrine” to get another vote if Barack Obama wins and Democrats increase their congressional majorities. When I say "Thugocracy", I am referring to the way Obama inspires his followers to enact the "change" he is proposing: ‘I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors,” Barack Obama told a crowd in Elko, Nev. “I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face.” Actually, Obama supporters are doing a lot more than getting into people’s faces. They seem determined to shut people up. Not so, apparently, in metropolitan St. Louis. Similarly, the Obama campaign called for a criminal investigation of the American Issues Project when it ran ads highlighting Obama's ties to Ayers. Scott White - I have spoken out against the Patriot Act... I think it is against the constitution and horrible. Why do liberals always insist on pointing fingers instead of answering questions?
i m trying to adapt W.H. Audens poem, The Unknown Citizen to modern times. but i dont really understand it? Policies taken out in his name prove that he was fully insured, And his Health-card shows he was once in hospital but left it cured. Both Producers Research and High-Grade Living declare He was fully sensible to the advantages of the Installment Plan And had everything necessary to the Modern Man, A phonograph, a radio, a car and a frigidaire. Our researchers into Public Opinion are content That he held the proper opinions for he time of year; When there was peace, he was for peace; when there was war, he went. He was married and added five children to the population, Which our Eugenist says was the right number for a parent of his generation. And our teachers report that he never interfered with their education. Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd: Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.

Just came back from the Nets-Bulls game? Disclaimer: Before you read this thread, just note that everything I am writing is 100% with all honestly and sincerity, the truth. If there's one thing that you should know about me, it's that I'm about as honest as a person you can find. I would not write up such a long thread as a fib to impress anybody. Anyways, yeah. It's currently 4:07AM here in the New York, and I just came home. If you're wondering why so late, considering that the game starts at 7:30ET and ends about 2 hours and 15 minutes later, I'll explain everything below. To start off... this was a LONG night, and I mean LONG, but very productive night nonetheless. I don't feel like talking about the game, because it was an absolute disgrace. The Nets had SUCH a good 3rd quarter, and they couldn't close the game out in the 4th quarter! Why? I don't even know anymore. Izod Center has some sort of curse to it. The crowd was amazing tonight, there was over 20,000 people in attendance all yelling and screaming, so it can't be the lack of energy. The Nets just fell down the stretch. Chicago made big plays, they hit shots, and the Nets let Chicago go on a 12-0 run to start the 4th quarter (I think). It's about as simple as that. It was a good game nonetheless, but a very upsetting loss ended as the result. Yeah, there's not much to say about the game. It was alright... I am starting to get sick of attending Nets games though. It's basically good money thrown to waste, because you always know what the end result is going to be. Let's get to the interesting part. Below is where I explain why I came home so late. My friend and I were at the postgame show. We go there after every single time. The postgame show in hosted in the back of the Nets court, where any fan is welcome to come after the game to hear the radio analysts talk about the game and maybe get a question or two from one of the fans. They serve free coffee and brownies, and it's a pretty nice experience. Moving on... during the postgame show, we saw an old friend over there from my old school, and got a bit caught up chatting with him. To my dismay, by the time we finished out little chat, all the buses headed towards New York were gone (the last bus leaves a half an hour after the game). Realizing this, my friend and I (not the old friend who I saw in the postgame show, the friend who I originally went with to the game) went inside the stadium and told one of the security guards our situation. He heard our story, stood there for a few seconds, and told us to follow him. He took us through a hall, and we saw EVERYTHING. I'm talking about the Nets locker room (we didn't go inside, we couldn't... we had to follow him, obviously), we saw the head coaches office, the assistant coaches office, the press room, etc. Ugh. It was such a great experience. We didn't get to meet any players, because the players were long gone by that time, but it was still awesome. In the end, he got one of the press who lives in Brooklyn to drive us. We had to wait for for like an hour until he was done with his work so he can drive us, but during our wait, we got free soda and water from the machine, we met Fred Kerber of the New York Post, and the dude that drove us was actually Ben Couch of NBA.com. During the drive which was like an hour, he told us the coolest stories lol. He's been working in the NBA since the 80's, so he's met pretty much every single player there is to meet, almost. He told us a story an interesting story about Dennis Rodman (I would share it, but it's way too long to type out), he told us about the current Nets players and who he likes and dislikes, etc. It was awesome! I would type out some more, but I am absolutely exhausted right now. It's currently 4:37AM here in New York, and I am wishing all of you a good night. Hope to read some comments in the morning, and there are some pictures from tonight coming in a bit, after I upload all of them, which I will probably do in the morning. Stay tuned, and thanks for reading.

discussion of the ideas Auden conveys through his use of irony in the last two lines of " the unknown citizen"? the unknown citizen, by w.h. auden: He was found by the Bureau of Statistics to be One against whom there was no official complaint, And all the reports on his conduct agree That, in the modern sense of an old-fashioned word, he was a saint, For in everything he did he served the Greater Community.

What does this poem mean? 10 pts? I was just looking at poems because I'm a poem freak but I don't understand this poem. I think he is getting rewarding for being such a good citizen in the community, but isn't really happy. (Unknown Citizen- W.H. Which of these statements most closely describes the way W.H Auden really feels about modern life? (A) When society handles people as statistics, a person tends to lose his or her idenity, freedom and happiness. (B) The unknown citizen is a citizen who has died and cannot be identified. (C) It is important to keep records on every human being so that we can reconstruct his or her life after he or she dies.
Is "The Unknown Citizen" by Auden similar to the book 1984, and how? I have a question about band music.? My husband starting playing the guitar this past Christmas. He has done quite well. His older brother plays in a little band that plays every Friday night in this old school house out in the sticks. The band is mostly older guys it is all guitars and they take turns singing. The audience is mostly elderly I am talking the youngest people there are in their 50's. This is a free concert very informal the band is really not that good but it is something to do that is not a bar scene there is no alcohol and no smoking like I said just something to do on a Friday night. The band only practices about a hour before each performance and this probably explains why they suck most of the time lol. But nobody that goes really cares sometimes they get lucky and there is a good performance. My husbands brother invited him to play with the band so he took his little acousticic guitar and sat in the back of the guys and just kind of strummed along quitely not plugged into anything and when he sang they would mostly play for him. He took them sheet music with the tabs to play for him. They never offered him any music to play for them some of them never took his music they told him they could play it by ear songs they never heard before. Actually he is probably the best singer they had and I am not just saying that because I am his wife others there have said as much. He would liven it up some not that dragging old old county but more modern country. The old people liked it. Anyway a local radio station started filming them and putting it on the internet. Some of the old guys watched and figured out they suck lol and decided they needed to kick off some of the band members they thought was making them suck. So they elected to boot my husband who was not making a difference one way or the other and a 87 year old man who has been playing up there longer then anyone. Their excuse was that since this ringey dink radio station has started filming them other guys who have showed up to play with them that sucked worse then they do so they decided to keep thier 'core band members' and if anybody else wanted to sing they would just have to wait in the audience until it was their turn. I think they should have left the guys they had and if any strangers showed up tell them that story sing when it is your turn and go sit down all they have done is hurt my husbands feelings and this old man and btw they still suck. I think if they don't want to suck maybe they just might want to use tabs and stop playing by ear and oh I don't know start practiciing more often. What do you think?
Need help with biography! Thanks! Please Look in To!? I am doing a biography on Elvis. Its due tomorrow and it has to be atleast 5 minutes, maximum 8 minutes. I really need help finishing it! I did most of the work, please finish! needs to be true information! please help! DUE TOMORROW! If you want to add more, feel free to! THANKS! Also i forgot to tell you it needs to be in first person! Me, My I you know! Thanks! l \/ My name is Elvis Aaron Presley. I was born on January 8th, in the year of 1935. I was born a twin, but I remain a twin no longer. My twin brother, Jesse Garon, died shortly after our birth. It was said that I would do many great things… When I was eight years old, I hitchhiked to a local radio station to perform on their “Saturday Jamboree”. My original hair color was infact blond. But when I was ten, I colored it black. For my eleventh birthday, I received the most important gift of my life- a guitar. That marked the beginning of my music career. I started singing and taking my guitar to school. Playing , “Old Shep,” and many other folk songs, during lunch. My family moved to the state of Tennessee, to the city of Memphis. I was in High School around the time we moved. My father, Vernon Presley, could never keep a job, and my mother Gladys Presley, did not get paid enough to support our family. So we moved to Memphis, hoping my father would get a steady job. I graduated high school, in 1953. After graduating, I went and auditioned for Marion Keisker, at Sun Studios. The following year, I returned to Sun Studios, and recorded a sample record, with Sam Phillips listening in. On July 5th, 1954, I recorded my first single, “That’s All Right.” Then in 1955, after a show I was doing in Jacksonville, Florida, Kernel Tom Parker, came up to me and asked me if I wanted to sign a contract with him. I reluctantly agreed. In 1956, I became very popular. I made my first television appearance in January. I appeared on Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey’s “Stage Show”. Also, I performed on Ed Sullivan’s popular variety show, “Toast of the Town”. Then I made my first movie. “Love Me Tender”, came out in New York City, in November. In 1957, I spent five-hundred thousand dollars, renovating an old estate, which I recently purchased. Calling it “Graceland”, it’s area consists of 13 acres. In December, five days before Christmas, I received notice that I was drafted into the army. Kernel Tom Parker pulled some strings so I could finish filming my fourth movie, King Creole. My other movies were, Loving you, and Jailhouse Rock. After completing King Creole, I reported to Fort Chaffee, in Arkansas, on March 24th. Then in August, 1958, Gladys Presley tragically died. I was astounded and filled with grief. I immediately flew home. A few weeks after the death, I departed to Wiesbaden. Which is in Germany. That is where I met Priscilla Beaulieu. Who is the daughter of an American Air Force Captain. When I discovered that she was only in ninth grade, I was astonished. Nevertheless, I saw her day after day. Finally, I told her that I really liked her, even though I was twenty four, and she was only fourteen. In 1960, I completed my tour of duty. Leaving behind Priscilla, I left to go home to the United States. A while after I returned home, I performed on television with Frank Sinatra in May. On March 25th, 1961, I performed live in Honolulu, Hawaii, at a benefit in honor of the U.S.S. Arizona. That was my last live show performance for a while. If anyone wanted to see me perform, they would have to buy tickets. NEED MORE INFO!!!!! In 1963, I had Priscilla and her family flown to Los Angeles for a visit. The Bealieus agreed to let Priscilla stay in Memphis with me. NEED MORE INFO!!! In 1967, I signed a new contract on January 2nd, giving Kernel Parker half of my earnings. I recorded, “How Great Thou Art”, which won me my first grammy. On May 1st, In Las Vegas, I married Priscilla, who has been living in Graceland for about 5 years. We had a baby girl, named Lisa Marie, who was born on February 1, 1968. I made it back to television December 3rd with a Christmas special, that rejuvenated my career as a live performer.
Do you agree with me on freedom of speech? In the days following the 9/11 attack, Clear Water Radio released a list of songs they deemed "questionable", this list of songs included such mind-boggling sadistic ditties as "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkle, "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da" by The Beatles (along with three other of the more terrifying hits), and of course, hides your kids from this one, "What a Wonderful World" by the devil himself Louis Armstrong. The music (and I use that term very loosely) channel MTV has been know to edit words like "guns", "mushroom", "anger", "trigger", "died", "cut", "high", and "Russian" out of the music videos. These two modern world acts of censorship are a few of many incidents that really make you question the legitimacy of the whole First Amendment, you know the one that states "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." That sounds pretty straight forward to me, and the founding fathers must have thought it of the up-most importance seeing as they put it at number one, which would make it kinda like the "Citizen Kane" of amendments. So how, with such an important and simple law, can we be living in a world where there are set places in which the government controls the time and place for people to protest, or how could a women be sent to jail for peacefully criticizing Ohio governmental officials of being corrupt, or the fact that it's illegal to show pictures of dead troop or caskets of fallen soldiers to prevent the public from getting even more annoyed and upset by this corrupted war of ours. So what causes this whole abuse of a human right, maybe it's people inability to separate peaceful objection from terrorism, but anything said against the government or any other system, no matter how immoral or offensive the opinions are (and yes that includes skinheads, the KKK, and cults) they should be allowed to express them peacefully and without fear of governmental hostility or non-peaceful retaliation. In the artistic world there is a similar kind of mentality, the incapability to disconnect true art from trash, this whole ordeal is caused by the fact that there is a group of people (I am assuming older and Christian) that decide what is appropriate and what is not, now their may be but a thin line between Michelangelo and Hugh Hefner or The Velvet Undergrounds lyrical depiction of kinky sex and drug use and 2 Live Crews depiction of kinky sex and drug use, but I assure you there is. Still no matter how inappropriate a film, or song, or painting or whatever might seem to you, it should still be honored as artistic expression. Maybe, however the First Amendment is being ignored because the power to be is scared, scared that someone is gonna say something they don't like and get a whole nation to agree, and them being scared would explain the governments censorship of the news and history to present the US in a brighter light, so yeah I think they're scared, afraid of an unwanted truth that could jeopardize their power. I urge everyone to go out and speak their mind, no matter how extreme it may appear, because revolution, both intellectually and artistically, can not happen with chained lips, tied tongues, and a blocked mind.
Are these the right lyrics and witch should I sing at a talent show? 4 Drake Bell songs must know if these are the right lyrics and witch would be best to sing at a talent show. THE GIRL NEXT DOOR:She may not be Marilyn Monroe And she may not be the cutest girl I know It's how she makes me feel not how she looks One smile from her heart That's all it took The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door She's the girl I'd stay home for If I had the courage I'd ring her bell But if she answered what story would I tell My window's become her picture frame But this painting doesn't even have a name The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door She's the girl I'd stay home for She doesn't know that I'm breathing She doesn't know that I'm alive She doesn't know what I'm dreaming When I see that she's turned out her lights And does she see me like I see her More than just the boy next door More than just the boy next door The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door The girl next door is not the girl next door She doesn't know that I'm alive DOWN WE FALL:You were so clever, You kept it together today, By the way, I'll no longer ignore you, I wanted to show you again, I'm your friend, Sometimes we just pretend. And all I can say is you save me, Changed all the things that have made me, Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, It's all ok, When I say, You and I, Take your time, I can't wait, To see you fly. You don't have to wander, I've finally discovered tonight, Where we're at, This is just the beginning, It's all that I'm tryin' to say, If I may You're never in my way And all I can say is you save me, Changed all the things that have made me, Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, It's all ok, When I say, You and I, Take your time, I can't wait, To see you fly. (random talking) And all I can say is you save me, Changed all the things that have made me, Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, (And all I can say is you saved me) Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, (Changed all the things that have made me) x8 Entertaining, Thoughts are raining, Down We Fall, (Changed all the things that have made me
Can anyone identify this 90's song? Hey! I have an old cassette tape that I've almost worn out of an old radio show called "Music Underground" that used to run in the US on Monday nights. They played "alternative" stuff and as a kid with not a lot of money these tapes provided a lot of free listening when I was in high school. I've identified all the songs on my tapes except for one show (from 12/7/1992) and there is one song on the tape that I am having a hard time identifying. here's a link to a stream of the track.... http://sigurros.free.fr/trackone.html Any help would be appreciated. The lyrics go something like this... I just gotta to see you again but if I can't I just want to die (x3) I just gotta to see you again (???????) I just want to say (x3) Here's the other songs on the mix: Ramones - Anxiety Unknown Track #1 Echo and Bunnymen - Ashes to Ashes Lemonheads - Rudderless Velocity Girl - Crazy Town PJ Harvey - O Stella Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - Jennifer She Said Smiths - What She Said Husker Du - Chartered Trips Flaming Lips - Halloween on the Barbary Coast Grant Hart - 2541 Pixies - Bone Machine XTC - Meccanic Dancing Jesus and Mary Chain - Teenage Lust Unknown track #3 Soul Asylum - Without a Trace Primal Scream - Higher Than the Sun The other music on the mix is pretty mainstream (as far as alternative music goes), so I don't think it's a local band or anything on a non-major label, so I'm pretty frustrated to find this track! Any help is appreciated!
i need your help please! what crisis does this show? can you show me where in this poem it shows crisis and i will rate best answer please The Horses Barely a twelvemonth after The seven days war that put the world to sleep, Late in the evening the strange horses came. By then we had made our covenant with silence, But in the first few days it was so still We listened to our breathing and were afraid. On the second day The radios failed; we turned the knobs; no answer. On the third day a warship passed us, heading north, Dead bodies piled on the deck. On the sixth day A plane plunged over us into the sea. Thereafter Nothing. The radios dumb; And still they stand in corners of our kitchens, And stand, perhaps, turned on, in a million rooms All over the world. But now if they should speak, If on a sudden they should speak again, If on the stroke of noon a voice should speak, We would not listen, we would not let it bring That old bad world that swallowed its children quick At one great gulp. We would not have it again. Sometimes we think of the nations lying asleep, Curled blindly in impenetrable sorrow, And then the thought confounds us with its strangeness. The tractors lie about our fields; at evening They look like dank sea-monsters couched and waiting. We leave them where they are and let them rust: 'They'll molder away and be like other loam.' We make our oxen drag our rusty plows, Long laid aside. We have gone back Far past our fathers' land. And then, that evening Late in the summer the strange horses came. We heard a distant tapping on the road, A deepening drumming; it stopped, went on again And at the corner changed to hollow thunder. We saw the heads Like a wild wave charging and were afraid. We had sold our horses in our fathers' time To buy new tractors. Now they were strange to us As fabulous steeds set on an ancient shield. Or illustrations in a book of knights. We did not dare go near them. Yet they waited, Stubborn and shy, as if they had been sent By an old command to find our whereabouts And that long-lost archaic companionship. In the first moment we had never a thought That they were creatures to be owned and used. Among them were some half a dozen colts Dropped in some wilderness of the broken world, Yet new as if they had come from their own Eden. Since then they have pulled our plows and borne our loads But that free servitude still can pierce our hearts. Our life is changed; their coming our beginning by edwin muir
Poll: Who thinks TOUCH better than the ZUNE HD? Zune HD is much better hands down, if your a music lover you would not even consider ipods as your option. Also Zune HD's sound quality is much better than ipod touch, its a proven fact, no questions asked, all other brands like cowon, samsung, sony excel in sound quality.Ipods are dead last on sound. Ipod touch hardware wise is just inferior, pc software is dead slow, and sound quality is bottom-dweller. And for the same price as Ipod Touch 8gb 3 gen you can get a Zune HD 16 that's double the capacity. Hence ipods can't even match price to storage. Whats funny is that there is no 16GB model for the new third gen ipods, Apple saw competition from Microsoft too much to bare so they decided to axe the 16 gb model. Games on Zune HD leave Ipods in the oblivion. Check out this game on Zune HD The Zune HD has Tegra processor hence its open for future potential, hardware would not limit adding new features. Zune team is working day n night to develop cool stuff for Zune HD. Apps Store will grow. Zune is the only MP3 player in the Market with HD radio technology. And the only Non-Ipod player to have App Support. It has the backing of Technology Giant Microsoft. The same people who are bringing you Project Natal, Surface Computers, and Microsoft Courier. Check them out on youtube. Microsoft Courier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmIgNfp-M… Project Natal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2qlHoxPi… The Zune PC Software is well organized and the lay out is an Eye Candy, its more stable and Syncs 10 faster than Itunes and never crashes like the itunes. Best of all Zune Software does the work for you it monitors new stuff for you, so you never have to Add it to the Library every time you have something New. The Music Interface on Zune Hd is unmatched, say your listening to AC/DC track, you can to go to artist page for it where you can see the artist bio, band pictures, All the albums ever produced, Related Artist, you get all this without ever connecting online, its basically stored on your device. My words Can't Do Justice to this Product. One of the many reasons that swayed my brother away from Itunes to Zune was Itunes song pricing system ever since 2009 they started charging $1.29 for new releases, and 99 cents for old releases. A dollar a song on itunes would run you out of money way before it runs out of space. Watching movies is a pleasant experience on Zune HD screen since its got an OLED display, which means Faster refresh rate and Better contrast and Greater brightness. My brother used to have a huge problem watching movies because his Ipod touch would show heavy ghosting and dark spot while watching movies, now he just loves watching movies on his ZuneHD. Zune HD has no Ghosting or Dark spots. Best of all I watch 4 to 5 Movies, complete movies on a single charge on my Zune HD.Battery life on Zune HD for Music Playback is 33 hours and 8.5 hours for Videos. In near future people will be buying OLED Display TVs like crazy. Ipod has those outdated LCD displays that other brands like Samsung , Cowon and Sony are all phasing out. List of Reason Why Zune HD stands out 1-Zune software that syncs with your zune device is 10 times faster than itunes. 2-Sync wirelessly with your device. 3-Itunes is not a better option if you own a PC since its slow and tends to crash alot. 4-Itunes store is also full of clutter 5- Connect with your Xbox 360. Ipod touch wont even connect with Xbox 360. 6-Zune HD has an OLED Display 7-HD video out 8-HD Radio ,based on where you live you can get extra Radio stations, HD Radio has CD quality sound. And if you like a song you can tag it and get it from Zune Marketplace. 9- It Weights lighter than the Ipod touch, its only 2.6 ounces whereas IPod touch is 4.1 ounces. 10- Nvidia Tegra Processor that supports 3D graphics. 11 All the Apps and Games are Free. 12. Charges .99 Cents for all releases whether New Or Old. Same Rate.No Extra charges like Itunes 13. Best Software for Collection Organization 14. Updates Are Always Free On Zune. Unlike Apple Likes to Charge $10 for Ipod Touch Updates Cons for having an Ipod touch 1 No Radio 2 No HD out 3 Music Quality Sucks monkey balls, 4 No OLED 5. No Tegra Processor 6. No PGR - Project Ghotham Racing 7. No Play Counts 8. No unlimited Subscription service 9. No wireless Sync 10 No 16GB model for the new third gen ipods 11. Crappy Battery Life 12. Itunes still syncs slow on PCs and crashes more often. 13.Duplicate Apps

Feel free to add you own. If you remember most of these, you're old baby! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sick of trying to understand it... Why do girls date idiots? What's so wrong with good guys? I mean, its really cool that the "boy-toy" goes out and gets hammered every weekend, or does all sorts of drugs... Or goes and hangs with other girls probably doing "things" at all those GREAT parties! :/ But a guy like me, who is drug free, doesn't drink (I realize that I'm underage...), would only keep his eyes and heart on his girl... WE have the hardest times getting a girlfriend! It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, in fact, NONE at all! I mean popularity and being "fun" and knowing a lot of people is cool and all, but to THAT extent? Honestly what is love? I could tell you, or show you, any girl who can look past whatever impression I give out to the outside world. I know exactly what love is... I look for fun elsewhere, I enjoy spending time with my family that loves me, but I also need friend time, which doesn't happen very often because they're all out partying. I was out and about tonight, ya know taking care of a few things, got myself a nice outfit, spent some time at the bookstore... And driving home, the radio was off, I felt so alone, nobody sitting in the passenger seat, nobody to talk to. It was me alone in my car. I just want a friend... someone to talk to, enjoy being around more than any other person in the world... Someone I love more than my family even, someone new and exciting! Someone to be there for at all times, someone to wrap my arm around while we walk together, someone to hold... But it was just me... I almost broke down and cried. I feel so alone! I don't know what it takes to get a GF... I'm 19 years old and have never had one. I'm not exactly a huge hit with the ladies for whatever reason. I'm good-looking, have a good head on my shoulders, have a lot of friends, but I live a more family oriented, clean lifestyle... I would think young women would appreciate that, but they just end up with the druggie/alcoholic that probably hangs all over other girls at parties anyways... I generally stay away from parties, especially ones with drugs and booze. Why can't young women my age look past whatever the seemingly "negative" vibe I give off and fall in love with and appreciate a guy like me? I've tried talking to girls, asking them out, asking them to just hang out as friends, but I end up led on, alone and confused and hurt everytime. One girl I fell in love with, believe me I know I did. I've tried, I've asserted myself plenty of times for the girls I like, but nothing ever works out. I'm not looking for sex on the first, second, or even the 99th date... I ultimately just want a friend... a best friend. What can I do? I'm such a hopeless romantic... :( Thanks... Peace you're an idiot... of course I'd protect her! I don't exactly see what I'd have to protect her from anyways... The boogieman? whatever... If you don't have any understanding as to how I feel, than you shouldn't have even posted...
My horror story so far? Tell me what you think so far, and any tips I can use. Thanks in advance Most of the time I sat in my front patio. Watching the world pass me by. I watched as the old town of St. Petersburg became less and less occupied. Located in the state of Nebraska, St. Petersburg is a small town, isolated from all civilization. Surround by beautiful pine trees, it was quite well hidden. One way in, one way out. Normally I would sit outside watching the channel 4 news on my half-beaten 10 inch Radio TV or I would be watching my home town Florida Marlins play ball. The forecast for today was sunny with no chance of rain. So it seemed kind of odd to find the town covered with rain clouds. The rain started to lightly drizzle amongst the down hill street, which my house rested on. A cold blast of wind blew strong caressing against my bare skin. The skies darken as the rain got heavier. I observed my neighbor’s rocking chair as it slowly rocked back and forth, back and forth. The street quickly turned into a flowing river as the rain water flowed down hill. It was then when I notice a baby’s bottle flowing down. After it ran a young girl, no older than 20, I would say. She stopped in my presence, took a quick glare at me and ran back in the opposite direction. Her face had horror written all over it. The sheer look she gave me was horrific. But the look wasn’t directed at me. It was directed to something behind me. What had she seen? I was too terrified to find out. My hands began to tremble as my muscles tighten, trying to reject my movement. I didn’t want to turn around, but I had no choice. I swallow my pride and slowly tilted my head around, while moving backwards. What I saw will hunt me forever. A dark human like shadowy figure stood before me. It had no face, no clothes, no nothing. It was just a solid black thing. I would say it was 6 foot 5 inches tall, judging by my own height. As I looked up at it, I started to back peddle into the hill where the rain started to hit me. The thing arched its head and moved slightly forward almost walking into the street, up until the thing noticed the rain and vanished into thin air. Millions of questions ran through my head all at once. What had I just seen? Was I dreaming? “This can’t be possible”. I quoted to myself. I continued to stand in the pouring rain. I was too terrified to return to my house. I ran up stream to find the girl who had seen it as well. I searched everywhere. I couldn’t find the girl. My heart was pounding uncontrollably. A cold sweat ran down my back. Goosebumps were quickly covering my body. I landed on my hands and knees as I couldn’t stand anymore. I was getting pounded by the rain and I didn’t care. I was determined to not show my face in that house again. Tears ran down my face as the thing returned. This time it wasn’t afraid of the rain. It shifted through the rain so quick, I doubt it was even getting hit by the rain. I felt my neck tighten and I couldn’t breathe. That’s when I notice I was in its grip. “Let me go!” I screamed with horror in my voice. I tried to grab it but my hands ran through it. The thing was like a black ghost. I couldn’t touch it. I tried to kick it this time and again my kick when through it. What in the world is this thing? I continued to ask myself whiling kicking and screaming for my freedom from its grip. Somehow this thing could grab me, but I couldn’t touch it. My hands just ran through it. In my mind I knew I wasn’t going to survive this encounter. But my inner self wouldn’t let me quit. I knew this thing had to have a weakness to it. Like every monster or mutated human did. But this was neither a monster, nor a human. It was just a thing. I tighten my eyes shut, and tried to wiggle myself free. Oxygen was becoming limited now. I couldn’t take it anymore, my lungs were burning. Every breathe I took was like swallowing sand paper down my throat. The thing finally let me go by throwing me against the ground. I quickly got up and began to sprint as fast as I could. I didn’t care which way I was running, I just knew anywhere would be better than here. The thing quickly began to dash over to me. Just then I saw a parked truck and I slid under the truck. The thing collided against the truck, making the car alarm to go off. I continue to sprint. The thing recuperated and dashed towards me faster than before. Anger was now fueling it. I knew I didn’t stand a chance in this race for my life. Even the four years of track at high school wouldn’t help me now. The thing quickly catch up to me and speared me against the ground. It grabbed me by my neck and pulled me up. I was in its grips again. The thing let go of my neck and grabbed me by my shoulders with both of its arms. It took me and pushed me towards its black body. I tried to avoid it at all cost. But my fight was futile. My world turned black. Solid black. Im not finish yet. But is it a good start? I made up a city and put it on a random state lol. And I thought of how I could make it flow from the patio to the street but i couldn't think of a way that would make sense to me. But thanks for the tips.

Old folks please apply. Please help me figure out what song this is...? The fact that I can't figure out this song bugs me. I listen to a radio show that often plays part of this song as their intro and when going to breaks. It sounds like the Eagles or maybe Crosby, Stills & Nash. Here are some of the lyrics: I will live like a free man shake the chains from my soul change my direction to heal my reflection stepping out into the cold these are the things I would do to help me break through these are the things I would do if I were you
Do i get free channels when i buy a plasma TV? Last christmas my dad bought a 42 inch LG plasma TV, and i noticed some interesting features i got with it besides the pc and hdmi inputs. After i hooked up the TV to the basic comcast cable we have i noticed that there were more channels on the plasma then the old crt tv we had. theres these radio channels, tv guide, TV one, some college access channels and others that i cant even begin to describe. there are these two channels that i found were very cool but after two months of having them they just vanished. the channels showed a whole movie without commercial interuptions and no censorship, and a channel that had a live camera that was focused on the seattle space needle. Did comcast give this to us for free as a try out thing or just got rid of it. How come the plasma can get so many more channels then my 5 year old model tv's?

A neo conservatives hero exposed? Limbaugh vs. Reality Bogus Economics LIMBAUGH: On California contractor C.C. Myers completing repairs 74 days early on the earthquake-damaged Santa Monica Freeway: "There was one key element that made this happen. One key thing: The governor of California declared the [freeway] a disaster area and by so doing eliminated the need for competitive bids.... Government got the hell out of the way." (TV show, 4/13/94) "They gave this guy [Myers] the job without having to go through the rigmarole...of giving 25 percent of the job to a minority-owned business and 25 percent to a woman." (TV show, 4/15/94) REALITY: There was competitive bidding: Myers beat four other contractors for the job. Affirmative action rules applied: At least 40 percent of the subcontracts went to minority or women-owned firms. Far from getting out of the way, dozens of state employees were on the job 24 hours a day. Furthermore, the federal government picked up the tab for the whole job (L.A. Times, 5/1/94). LIMBAUGH: "Banks take the risks in issuing student loans and they are entitled to the profits." (Radio show, quoted in FRQ, Summer/93) REALITY: Banks take no risks in issuing student loans, which are federally insured. LIMBAUGH: "Don't let the liberals deceive you into believing that a decade of sustained growth without inflation in America [in the '80s] resulted in a bigger gap between the haves and the have-nots. Figures compiled by the Congressional Budget Office dispel that myth." (Ought to Be, p. 70) REALITY: CBO figures do nothing of the sort. Its numbers for after-tax incomes show that in 1980, the richest fifth of our country had eight times the income of the poorest fifth. By 1989, the ratio was more than 20 to one. LIMBAUGH: Comparing the 1950s with the present: "And I might point out that poverty and economic disparities between the lower and upper classes were greater during the former period." (Told You So, p. 84) REALITY: Income inequality, as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau, fell from the 1940s to the late 1960s, and then began rising. Inequality surpassed the 1950 level in 1982 and rose steadily to all-time highs in 1992. (Census Bureau's "Money Income of Households, Families and Persons in the United States") LIMBAUGH: "Oh, how they relished blaming Reagan administration policies, including the mythical reductions in HUD's budget for public housing, for creating all of the homeless! Budget cuts? There were no budget cuts! The budget figures show that actual construction of public housing increased during the Reagan years." (Ought to Be, p. 242-243) REALITY: In 1980, 20,900 low-income public housing units were under construction; in 1988, 9,700, a decline of 54 percent ;Statistical Abstracts of the U.S).In terms of 1993 dollars, the HUD budget for the construction of new public housing was slashed from $6.3 billion in 1980 to $683 million in 1988. "We're getting out of the housing business. Period," a Reagan HUD official declared in 1985. LIMBAUGH: "The poorest people in America are better off than the mainstream families of Europe." (Radio show, quoted in FRQ, Spring/93) REALITY: Huh? The average cash income of the poorest 20 percent of Americans is $5,226; the average cash income of four major European nations--Germany, France, United Kingdom and Italy--is $19,708. LIMBAUGH: "There's no such thing as an implied contract." (Radio show, quoted in FRQ, Spring/93) REALITY: Every first year law student knows there is. LIMBAUGH: "Ladies and gentlemen, we now know why there is this institutional opposition to low tax rates in the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. It's because [low tax rates] are biblical in nature and in root. When you can trace the lowering of tax rates on grain from 90 percent to 20 percent giving seven fat years during the days of Pharaoh in Egypt, why then you are tracing the roots of lower taxes and rising prosperity to religion.... You can trace individual prosperity, economic growth back to the Bible, the Old Testament. Isn't it amazing?" (Radio show, 6/28/93) REALITY: Amazingly wrong. Genesis 41 is about the wisdom of instituting taxes, not cutting them. After Pharaoh had a dream that prophesied seven fat years to be followed by seven lean years, Joseph advised him to "appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years...and lay up corn under the hands of Pharaoh." In other words, a 20 percent tax on the grain harvest would put aside food for use during the famine. Pharaoh took Joseph's advice, and Egypt avoided hunger during the famine. Weird Science LIMBAUGH: "It has not been proven that nicotine is addictive, the same with cigarettes causing emphysema [and other diseases]." (Radio show, 4/29/94) REALITY: Nicotine's addictiveness has been reported in medical literature since the turn of the century. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop's 1988 report on nicotine addiction left no doubts on the subject; "Today the scientific base linking smoking to a number of chronic diseases is overwhelming, with a total of 50,000 studies from dozens of countries," states Encyclopedia Britannica's 1987 "Medical and Health Annual." LIMBAUGH: "We closed down a whole town--Times Beach, Mo.--over the threat of dioxin. We now know there was no reason to do that. Dioxin at those levels isn't harmful." (Ought to Be, p. 163) REALITY: "The hypothesis that low exposures [to dioxin] are entirely safe for humans is distinctly less tenable now than before," editorialized the New England Journal of Medicine after publishing a study (1/24/91) on cancer mortality and dioxin. In 1993, after Limbaugh's book was written, a study of residents in Seveso, Italy had increased cancer rates after being exposed to dioxin, The EPA's director of environmental toxicology said this study removed one of the last remaining doubts about dioxin's deadly effects (AP, 8/29/93). LIMBAUGH: "The worst of all of this is the lie that condoms really protect against AIDS. The condom failure rate can be as high as 20 percent. Would you get on a plane -- or put your children on a plane -- if one of five passengers would be killed on the flight? Well, the statistic holds for condoms, folks." (Ought to Be, p. 135) REALITY: A one in five AIDS risk for condom users? Not true, according to Dr. Joseph Kelaghan, who evaluates contraceptives for the National Institutes of Health. "There is substantive evidence that condoms prevent transmission if used consistently and properly," he said. He pointed to a nearly two-year study of couples in which one partner was HIV-positive. Among the 123 couples who used condoms regularly, there wasn't a single new infection (AP, 8/29/93). LIMBAUGH: "Most Canadian physicians who are themselves in need of surgery, for example, scurry across the border to get it done right: the American way. They have found, through experience, that state medical care is too expensive, too slow and inefficient, and, most important, it doesn't provide adequate care for most people." (Told You So, p. 153) REALITY: "Mr. Limbaugh's claim simply isn't true," says Dr. Hugh Scully, chair of the Canadian Medical Association's Council on Healing and Finance. "The vast majority of Canadians, including physicians, receive their care here in Canada. Those few Canadians who receive health care in the U.S. most often do because they have winter homes in the States--like Arizona and Florida--and have emergent health problems there." Medical care in Canada is hardly "too expensive"; it's provided free and covered by taxes.

What will your obituary say? My girlfriend just sent me this via e-mail. A life lived well? U. Utah Phillips, a Grammy-nominated folksinger, rabble-rouser and anarchist whose wild white beard re-called his years as a tramp, died of heart disease May 23 at his home in Nevada City, Calif. He was 73. Phillips, who over four decades on the road combined storytelling with song, described the plight of the work-ing class, the power of labor unions and the necessity of direct action. He dubbed himself the "Golden Voice of the Great Southwest," but his words, more than his baritone voice, carried authority; he had been a soldier, railroader, state archivist, union organizer, founder of a homeless shelter and homeless himself. He recorded the oft-overlooked value of rubber pockets, a necessity when stealing soup. His tall tale "Gaffing" was a rich illustration of populist scams. He honored the likes of Hood River Blackie and Fry Pan Jack, and never hesitated to leaven his history lessons about the Ford Strike of 1932, the Spokane Free Speech Fight of 1910 and the Canine Corps of World War II with such hysterical stories as "Suspender" and "Blackie & the Duck." His fans have posted dozens of videos of him or his songs on YouTube; in the mid-1990s, a new generation discovered him when folk musician and entrepreneur Ani DiFranco edited about 100 hours of homemade tapes of his performances and combined them with electronic hip-hop, creating an album called "The Past Didn't Go Anywhere" (1996) and releasing it on her Righteous Babe label. In 1999, he collaborated with DiFranco on the live album "Fellow Workers," which was nominated for a 2000 Grammy in the contemporary folk album category. "He was a real storyteller in his performances. He was just a catalogue of people's history in United States," DiFranco said in an interview this week. "He was so engaging on many, many levels." Phillips was a card-carrying member of the Industrial Workers of the World (Wobblies), a radical union that called for all working people to unite. He ran, unsuccessfully, for president in 1976 as an anarchist, but he never voted — except in 2004 when President Bush's policies so enraged him, DiFranco said. "He voted for 'Not That Guy,' " she said. Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, Tom Waits and Arlo Guthrie have all sung Utah Phillips songs, but he refused to let Johnny Cash record his standards, his eldest son told the Sacramento Bee newspaper, because he didn't trust the music industry. The Boston Globe called him "the kind of guy you'd want to sit next to on a long plane ride. Here's a rascal with a clutch of good songs that'll entertain you, educate you, and probably even get you fired up over the cur-rent state of politics." He was born as Bruce Phillips on May 15, 1935, in Cleveland to two labor organizers. His family moved to Utah in 1947, where Phillips learned to play the ukulele from an instruction manual, then took to the roads and rails of the West as a teenager. He adopted the name U. Utah Phillips in emulation of country vocalist T. Texas Tyler. "I worked with lots of old drunks only fit to shovel gravel, but they all knew songs, and they showed me how to play them," he said. Broke and out of work, he joined the Army in 1956 and was sent to Korea for three years. "I wanted to learn a trade, but all they taught me was how to shoot," he said in a Sing Out magazine interview. "What I really learned in the army was how to be a pacifist." After his discharge, he began to drink heavily and ride the rails. He drew a distinction between what he did and those of hobos and bums, quoting the 19th-century physician to the poor, Ben Reitman. "A hobo works and wanders, a tramp dreams and wanders, and a bum drinks and wanders," Phillips told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2006. "That's about right. I tramped. When I was on the freight trains, I wasn't looking for work. I was looking to go from place to place without paying any money." He took a job with the Utah state archives, and he volunteered at Salt Lake City's Joe Hill House, a shelter for tramps and itinerant workers. His 1968 race for a U.S. Senate seat as the nominee of the Peace & Freedom Party cost him his state job. He believed he was blacklisted. "All I had was an old VW bus, my guitar, $75, and a head full of songs, old- and new-made," he wrote two weeks ago in a message to his local radio station, KVMR-FM. "Fortunately ... I landed at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, New York. That seemed to be ground zero for folk music at the time. ... It took me a solid two years to realize I was no longer an unemployed organizer, but a traveling folk singer and storyteller." In 1973, folk fans discovered his song, "Moose Turd Pie," about the food served to laborers on a railroad gang. The bluegrass duo Flatt & Scruggs recorded his train song "Starlight on the Rails," and Joan Baez became the first of many to record the dark romantic ballad "Rock Salt and Nails," a song that became something of a folk and country standard. He settled in Nevada City, where he helped start the Peace and Justice Center and the Hospitality House, a homeless shelter. He launched a 100-episode syndicated radio show, "Loafer's Glory," and made occasional personal appearances, where he urged audience members to sing along on such tunes as "Dump the Bosses." Survivors include his wife, Joanna Robinson of Nevada City; three children, Duncan Phillips of Salt Lake City, Brendan Phillips of Olympia, Wash., and Morrigan Belle of Washington; two stepsons, Nicholas Tomb of Monterey, Calif., and Ian Durfee of Davis, Calif.; three brothers; a sister; and a grandchild.
Read my story please!!!!? Tell me what u think of it. Make sure its about the story. tell me what's needs to be improved. Chapter 1 My brother, Nathaniel, and I, Guilianna (JU*LEE*ANNA) ran down stairs at 5:57am quietly, we weren’t supposed to wake them until 6 o’clock am. We sat around the Christmas tree. There were at least 40 presents around the tree. We were a middle class family but rich at the same time. Well, my dad explains it better than I do. While sitting there, I got up and got the old radio from the cold basement that belonged to my great grandma and turned on the Christmas station. The song “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” was playing and I was singing along to it. Everyone said I had I nice voice but I didn’t believe them. Them meaning my two, still in love parents. My brother said, “Look at this present it’s HUGE!” He grabbed a present that was as big as nightstand and had his name written in black permanent marker, it looked a lot like my mom’s cursive hand writing but I didn’t bother to tell him because I was trying to concentrate on my singing and because I knew he would find out that Santa wasn’t real. I did and I knew it all along. He started to open it, but I smacked it from his hands, and snatched it. “No, not yet!” Then he yelled loud enough to get our mom to come downstairs, “MOM! Guilie (JU*LEE) hit me!” We were an Italian and German family, and all the usual. “No I didn’t! He’s lying!” The hallway light beamed on the upside down L stair case and I saw my mother’s skinny shadow getting closer to the wall. She came downstairs, tying up her blue silk robe. “What is going on here?” she asked in an irritating voice. “Guilie hit me. Hit me baaad, momma,” he whined. I rolled my eyes. Mom walked over and picked up my 3 year old brother and told me, “Guilie go in your room and take a shower, and get ready for church.” “Fine.” I followed my mom upstairs; Nathaniel was starting to fell asleep again because my mom was singing a lullaby and rubbing his back. At the beginning of the top of the staircase, was the 1st bathroom, were my dad was shaving. “Judy, wake the boy up, we can’t be late for church today.” My mom turned her head to me and said, “Go get ready,” in a strict tone. I walked into my bedroom and started to notice that my parents weren’t much in love. 12 minutes later I was in the shower and my mom was knocking on the door but I couldn’t pick up what she was saying “Guilie, telephone!” “What?!” “Guilie telephone…NOW!” “WHAT?!” “TELEPHONE!’ “Oh, coming!” I stepped out the shower, grabbed my pink cotton robe, opened my bathroom door, grabbing the phone and passing my mother by. “Guilie turn off the shower,” she demanded. “I can’t I have a phone call.” “Oh please, it’s just your aunt.” I rolled my eyes jumping on my bed. “Hello this is Guilianna Helios” “Hi, it’s your aunt, Ashley.” “Oh, hi, are you coming to church?” I asked in a very bubbly voice, I always felt calmer when my aunt was there to settle things. “Um, no not today sweetheart. I have to go to the hospital.” “Why are you hurt?” “No just your normal check-up.” “Oh, well are you coming with us to pick-up grandma Rosemaria after church?” “Yep. You guys will go home, get out of your church clothes, and your mom and I will cook breakfast. So I’ll see you there after you guys get back.” “Okay,” I alleged in a sweet voice. “I guess your upset that you can’t open any present’s yet, huh?” “Yeah.” “Well I have a present for you.” “Really? Can I open it now?” Ashley laughed. “Of course not sweetheart.” I looked at my mom she was standing in the doorway of my bathroom leaning her head against my door, holding a dirty cleaning rag and staring at me in a weird way. The shower was still on. “Ashley, I have to go.” “Okay hon, bye.” I put the black cordless, heavy phone on my nightstand. “Mom, are you okay?” She snapped and shrugged, “Yeah, turn off the shower please, and you still have soap on the back of her head.” She left my room closing the door. Why was everyone acting so weird? I asked myself. I put that question aside, dried off my hair slowly, and went into my closet picking out a black baby doll dress that stopped and a half an inch above the knees, and black ballerina shoes, putting my long brown hair into a ponytail. After I was done I went downstairs, and watched TV until the rest of my family came down. “I think I see a parking space right over there,” pointed out my mother looking around the busy church parking lot. Cars of all sizes were moving in, barely any moving out, families of 2,3,4,5, etc were getting out of there cars and walking across streets to get into the church, which slowed down cars even more. We drove around the parking lot for five minutes but found a spot right by Green family, who lived in another county but didn’t have a church in their county. Both families got out and met up by the front door. And I tell you it took a very long time because of the traffic. “Good morning, Mr. and Ms.Green,” greeted my dad half way bowing. The green family included the 37 year old parents, Tom and Claire, their two twin daughters Emily and Emma, my best friends, and my boyfriend, josh, who’s only two years older then me 14. My mom was smiling with her lime green suit with skin color sandals. My brother was playing with Josh; they were both dressed in black tuxedos. Emily, Emma, and I started talking and wives chatted with wives and husbands chatted with husbands. While Emma, Emily, and I were chatting about Ashley’s new boyfriend, Kevin, Josh snuck up behind me and gave me a surprise kiss on my cheek. “We’ll leave you alone,” said Emma. “No stay!” I yelled, catching jus in time before they walked off. “So, what were you ladies talking about?” asked Josh “Kevin.” I replied. “Oh…that super MEGA hot-tie!” All of us girls laughed. “Shut up,” I demanded playfully, gently hitting him. “He is just my aunt’s boyfriend.” “Yeah, your aunt’s hot boyfriend.” They all laughed, except for me, I stood there calm yet nervous just smiling. We got back at 10 o’clock. My feet and throat were sore, I sung a solo in front a huge crowd of 1,000 people, and I was almost standing the whole time praying. As my dad opened the door, a huge thing of a snow storm came rushing in. It was a blizzard outside. “Okay, Guilie, go upstairs and change out of your church clothes and help your brother,” stipulated my mom. My brother and I ran downstairs while, my father and mom chatted in their bedroom, changing…gross. “Judy, you have to tell her. I mean I want to have another baby of our own again I can’t believe Nathan was our only one.” “I will…” “You keep saying that-“ “I know-“ “I’m GETTING OLD!” I was unbuttoning Nathaniel’s blue shirt when I heard my father, little did they know, I was getting old of hiding something. After I was done with getting Nathaniel dressed, I went into my bathroom and held up my sweatshirt and t-shirt and touched my stomach. I had 3 pregnancy tests lying at the end of my bathroom counter, they all said yes. A tear shed down my cheek. I heard a bedroom door open then close. “Guilianna, are you ready?” bawled my mom. “Yes!” “Let’s go.” We all scrambled downstairs and into the car to go pick-up grandma Rosemaria. The car was loud even though I was listening to my iPod and my mom and dad were talking, and my brother was listening, like normal. We still didn’t open any presents. “For 12 years we kept it a secret, from a child that’s even ours…for 12 years I’ve had to say I love when I didn’t mean it.” “She’s my sister’s child; I had to take her in. Ash was too young to have a kid. Unfortunately, Guilianna was her kid. Ashley put her up for adoption and she told me that she wanted to adopt it, so I did.” “GUILIANNA’S ADOPTED!” screeched Nathaniel, loud enough for me to hear. Little did they know that he was pretending to be asleep? I took my headphones off of my ears and said, “What?” “Nothing,” held my mom. “Judy tell her!” insisted my dad. “Guilianna, I’m not really your mom. Ashley is. She got pregnant when she was 24 and she was still a party all night drink all day every day. She finally went to rehab when she found out she was pregnant and after her boyfriend broke up with her…She came out and she put up for adoption and she said she wanted me to adopt her. I was in the birthing room. I cut your umbilical cord…” She started to cry covering her mouth. “Oh, shut up!” “GUILIE!” shrieked my dad. “Please, she’s not even my mother, why should I listen to her?!” “As long as you’re under our roof, you will follow our rules!” “Oh, Mark, don’t yell at her!” After I angrily put my headphones back on, turning up the music louder and louder as she kept calling my name. “Guilie…” “GUILIE…” “Guilie!!!!!!!!!” Nathaniel cried, “Gudie not my sister!” He cried very hard, all the way their. I cried too. Judy pulled up into Grandma Rosemaria’s driveway, there was my mom playing with the Golden retriever, Scoot. I got out of the car while it was still moving. “Guilianna!” yelled Judy. As I walked pass my real mom I said, “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me!” but I stopped walking furiously to give my grandma a hug. “Could you go get my bags, dear?” “Of course,” I replied. I stopped smiling and stormed in the house with Scoot following me. My mom’s smile faded. Once Nathaniel was free from his car seat he ran to my mom and said, “Gudie’s not my sister anymore!” “Oh.” She put him down. Nathaniel ran in the house to play with Scoot. Mark and Judy stood in the driveway. All faces were different and unexplained. I was watching from my grandmother’s upstairs bedroom window holding her medication bottle. Nathaniel was also in our grandma’s room, except he was rubbing Scoot’s tummy. My mom’s arms were crossed; she sucked in her tan cheeks, and inquired, “Why the hell did you tell my daughter…now.” “Nathaniel heard.” “Even I know, he’s an eavesdropper Judy!!” “Oh, so now you’re telling me how to raise my kid!” “NO…just…never mind! You promised me that you wouldn’t tell her until graduation. We would tell her together. This was supposed to be happy. This was the plan and you didn’t stick to it!!” “Oh, like you had a plan! Having sex with complete strangers then getting pregnant with a girl who is TOTALLY gifted and smart and-and-beautiful!!” My face light up and softened. “You know I went to rehab and tried to do everything for her!” “YEAH, well leaving her to your sister and acting as her aunt I really just showing you tried. Really.” Judy pulled Mark into the house. “Guilie AND Nathaniel LETS MOVE IT!” “Okay! “ Nathaniel and I said at the same time. I was happy as I came downstairs holding my grandmother’s bag of medications and blankets. I was the last kid to come down stairs and I hugged Judy and kissed on the cheek. “I love you,” she said. “I love you too. Both of you,” I replied back. I couldn’t believe what came out of Mark’s mouth next. “Even though I never had the uncle and niece relationship. The one we have now is even better. I love you too. “ My mom stood in the doorway. She clapped her hands together and announced, “Grandma Rosemaria is in the car, is everyone ready to go?” “I need to make a phone call.” Ashley: “Okay, Guilie. Take you time.” Judy: “Yeah we’ll be in the car waiting.” As soon as the family of three walked out, my mom grabbed my face and tried too kiss m but I rejected it. She went out to her car looking mad, and disappointed..
Read my story!!PLEASE!? It's not done but i want some REAL criticc judgements and comment on it so far. THX SO MUCH!! LOVE YA! Here it is: Chapter 1 My brother, Nathaniel, and I, Guilianna (JU*LEE*ANNA) ran down stairs at 5:57am quietly, we weren’t supposed to wake them until 6 o’clock am. Dems just can't handle competition can they? I love how they all think Fox news is so slanted one way and that the decades old lib media is..... what... balanced? What a joke! Just because Fox News ratings crush their little lib stations to a pulp on a nightly basis they now feel threatened. Have they EVER sat back and wondered why Fox News and Radio Talk shows do so well? Could it be because the majority of the public is tired of the biased opinions... not facts mind you... opinions of the lib media? That would be why they want the "fairness doctrine". That is code for affirmative action in freedom of speech.... "we can't compete in the arena of ideas... too many people listen to the radio and not to us anymore.... boo hoo... lets try and pass a bill that will hand us success rather than working for it... or stiffle the free speach of those we don't agree with". It would be laughable if it was not sooooo sad. so far not one of you gys can tell me why your party is trying to get the "fairness doctrine" passed.... please enlighten me... they are trying to pass it because they don't feel threatened? BTW.. citizenJ... another smashing answer from you... so snappy... who helps you think... of those one liners... Boy you got me on that one.... So far kbama is the only dem with a decent answer. Awe Lindsey... coming from you that really hurts... I am full of lies.... ouch! no dino.. wouldn't say I got crushed at all... with all the creative name calling and lack of evidence to back any claim you can count about 10 of their almost answers to one real thought out answer. jimmy... I don't disagree that Fox is more so on the right side of things. I find it amazing that when a differing point of view is presented, the left will do everything they can to stiffle it... of course... no one really got the point, they can't see past their own brainwashed talking points.
Out of Debt with Dave Ramsey? About a year and a half ago, my better half came home and was telling me about this guy she heard on the radio. He was carrying on about paying off your credit cards, driving an "old beater", and getting out of debt. She told me his name was Dave Ramsey. Well, long story short, we've been listening to him ever since. His approach to a debt free lifestyle was so simple, I couldn't believe we hadn't been doing it that way all along. We began applying Dave's "Debt Snowball" shortly after and started working the "Baby Steps". And so far, with the exception of one loan on a service vehicle (sorry, bought before Dave), and balance of a mortgage on a second house, we've wiped out all of our debt. Our plan is to sell the second house this Spring, use the proceeds from that to pay off both the mortgage and the loan on the truck, and the move on up the "Baby Steps". Right now, we're still on Step 2, but I can hardly wait until we can call in to the show and scream "we're debt free" on the radio. What a rush. I know there are other Ramsey fans here, I've seen their answers. So, here's my questions. Which "Baby Step" are you working on right now and what's been the hardest thing so far? Thanks to all of you for your answers. Thought there might be more Ramsey fans out there. SmartA$$ - We had a garage sale last Fall. Brought in an extra $400 and plan to do another this Spring. Even with our smaller debts gone, we found that every little bit helps. mldjay - I don't look for Congress to start listening to Dave. Those goobers don't have a clue. Be careful with your emergency fund. Remember, it's to be used only for emergencies. HEATHER - Hang in there. My sister went through some tough times after her husband passed. Things will get better. I guess because of that, I can relate to you best of all. I hope the others understand, but I had to choose you for best answer. Good Luck to everyone, hope to hear you on the radio.
Drinking Age. What do you think? There are groups of people who are trying to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18 . On one hand that would make it easier for minors to get (16 year olds have more 18 year old friends then they have 21 year olds friends). But on the other hand the european countries that have drinking ages of 15 and 16 don't have horrible drinking problems. I was listenin to the radio and anybody familiar with 102.9 and the Free Beer and Hot Wings show knows who I'm talkin about. One of the two, I think it was Hot Wings, said that when kids graduate high school they should be given a certificate pass thing that says they can legally drink, while all the dropouts should have to wait till 21. What do you think? And please don't give short yes 18 or yes 21 answers. Put a little thought into it and lets see the discussion we can make.
I'm firmly liberal but unhappy that some democrats are pushing for "fairness doctrine" laws. Anyone agree? There are some positions that democrats take that I don't like, but I agree with most if what they are for. It shocks me that some are pushing for the reinstatement of "fairness doctrine" laws. For those who don't know, they were old FCC laws that were overturned. The laws required that radio broadcasters "balance" their shows to reflect different viewpoints. So for example, if you air a program with very right wing ideas, you also had to air programs with very liberal ideas. For people who believe firmly in constitutional rights, like me, this is a slap in the face to the first amendment. If I open a radio station aimed at getting out liberal ideas, I'll be forced to promote conservative ones as well? That's stomping on the very idea of a free county. I understand that in general, more conservative programs (like the Rush Limbaugh show) are more popular than liberal ones because people unfortunately feed off of and enjoy negativity. To force broadcasters to promote an idea in which they don't believe is just wrong though. Love democrats, hate it that some are stomping their feet and yelling "but that's not fair" like little spoiled children. Grow up, please. Anyone agree? Oh and I won't deny that you have freedom of speech, so you can tell me liberals suck if that's what you believe. I can't promise I won't exercise my 1st amendment rights and give you a big thumbs-down though... :-)

He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days: Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing." On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation. Education & Employment Training 1. Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act. 2. Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education. 3. Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools. (Blocked in the Senate.) 4. Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight. 5. Requires states to participate in the National Assessment of Education Progress, or an equivalent program, to establish a national benchmark for academic performance. 6. Requires school-by-school accountability report cards. 7. Established a $2.4 billion fund to help states implement teacher accountability systems. 8. Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to become teachers. Environment & Energy 1. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. 2. Submitted a comprehensive Energy Plan (awaits Congressional action). The plan works to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy, improve national grid, etc. 3. Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives. 4. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops. 5. Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger. 6. Part of national forests cleanup: Restricted judicial challenges (based on the Endangered Species Act and other challenges), and removed the need for an Environmental Impact Statement before removing fuels/logging to reduce fire danger. 7. Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California. 8. Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species. Defense & Foreign Policy 1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom. 2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured. 3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaeda leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror. 4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed. 5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Has cut off much of the terrorists' funding, and captured or killed many key leaders of the al Qaeda network. 6. Initiated a comprehensive review of our military, which was completed just prior to 9/11/01, and which accurately reported that ASYMMETRICAL WARFARE capabilities were critical in the 21st Century. 7. Killed the old US/Soviet Union ABM Treaty that was preventing the U.S. from deploying our ABM defenses. 8. Has been one of the strongest, if not THE strongest friend Israel has ever hand in the U.S. presidency. 9. Part of the coalition for an Israeli/Palestinian "Roadmap to Peace," along with Great Britain, Russia and the EU. 10. Pushed through THREE raises for our military. Increased military pay by more than $1 billion a year. 11. Signed the LARGEST nuclear arms reduction in world history with Russia. 12. Started withdrawing our troops from Bosnia, and has announced withdrawal of our troops from Germany and the Korean DMZ. 13. Prohibited putting U.S. troops under U.N. command. 14. Paid back UN dues only in return for reforms and reduction of U.S. share of the costs. 15. Earmarked at least 20 percent of the Defense procurement budget for next-generation weaponry. 16. Increased defense research and development spending by at least $20 billion from fiscal 2002 to 2006. 17. Ordered a comprehensive review of military weapons and strategy. 18. Ordered a review of overseas deployments. 19. Ordered renovation of military housing. The military has already upgraded about 10 percent of its inventory and expects to modernize 76,000 additional homes this year. 20. Is working to tighten restrictions on military-technology exports. 21. Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without any bribes or bloodshed. Globalization & Internationalism 1. Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant). 2. Killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court. 3. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).* 4. The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. He said: "The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations, and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer. 5. Told the Congress and the world, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country." Government Reform 1. Improved government efficiency by putting hundreds of thousands of jobs put up for bid. This weakens public-sector unions and cuts undeserved pay raises. 2. Initiated review of all federal agencies with the goal of eliminating federal jobs (completed September 2003) in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government while increasing private sector jobs. 3. Led the most extensive reorganization the Federal bureaucracy in over 50 years: After 9/11, condensed 20+ overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors into one agency, the Department of Homeland Security.* 4. Ordered each agency to draft a five-year plan to restructure itself, with fewer managers. 5. Converted federal service contracts to performance-based contracts wherever possible so that the contractor has measurable performance goals. Health 1. Strengthen the National Health Service Corps to put more physicians in the neediest areas, and make its scholarship funds tax-free. 2. Double the research budget of the National Institutes of Health. 3. Signed Medicare Reform, which includes: A 10-year privatization option. Prescription drug benefits: Prior to this reform, Medicare paid for extended hospital stays for ulcer surgery, for example, at a cost of about $28,000 per patient. Yet Medicare would not pay for the drugs that eliminate the cause of most ulcers, drugs that cost about $500 a year. Now, drug coverage under Medicare will allow seniors to replace more expensive surgeries and hospitalizations with less expensive prescription medicine. More health care choices: As President Bush stated, "…when seniors have the ability to make choices, health care plans within Medicare will have to compete for their business by offering higher quality service [at lower cost]. For the seniors of America, more choices and more control will mean better health care. These are the kinds of health care options we give to the members of Congress and federal employees. What's good for members of Congress is also good for seniors. New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, that means you'll save between 10 to 35 percent on any costs covered by money in your account. Every year, the money not spent would stay in the account and gain interest tax-free, just like an IRA. These accounts will be good for small business owners, and employees. More businesses can focus on covering workers for major medical problems, such as hospitalization for an injury or illness. At the same time, employees and their families will use these accounts to cover doctors visits, or lab tests, or other smaller costs. Some employers will contribute to employee health accounts. This will help more American families get the health care they need at the price they can afford. Homeland Security, Border Enforcement & Immigration 1. *See Government Reform above. Under President Bush's leadership, America has made an unprecedented commitment to homeland security. 2. Has CONSTRUCTION in process on the first 10 ABM silos in Alaska so that America will have a defense against North Korean nukes. Has ordered national and theater ballistic missile defenses to be deployed by 2004. 3. Announced a 9.7% increase in government-wide homeland security funding in his FY 2005 budget, nearly tripling the FY 2001 levels (excluding the Department of Defense and Project BioShield). 4. Before DHS was created, there were inspectors from three different agencies of the Federal Government and Border Patrol officers protecting our borders. Through DHS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now consolidates all border activities into a single agency to create "one face at the border." This not only better secures the borders of the United States, but it also eliminates many of the inefficiencies that occurred under the old system. With over 18,000 CBP inspectors and 11,000 Border Patrol agents, CBP has 29,000 uniformed officers on our borders. 5. The Border Patrol is continuing installation of monitoring devices along the borders to detect illegal activity. 6. Launched Operation Tarmac to investigate businesses and workers in the secure areas of domestic airports and ensure immigration law compliance. Since 9/11, DHS has audited 3,640 businesses, examined 259,037 employee records, arrested 1,030 unauthorized workers, and participated in the criminal indictment of 774 individuals. 7. Since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has conducted more than 124,000 port security patrols, 13,000 air patrols, boarded more than 92,000 vessels, interdicted over 14,000 individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally, and created and maintained more than 90 Maritime Security Zones. 8. Announced the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an internet-based system that is improving America's ability to track and monitor foreign students and exchange visitors. Over 870,000 students are registered in SEVIS. Of 285 completed field investigations, 71 aliens were arrested. 9. This week, the US-VISIT program began to digitally collect biometric identifiers to record the entry and exit of aliens who travel into the U.S on a visa. Together with the standard information, this new program will confirm compliance with visa and immigration policies. 10. Eliminated INS bureaucratic redundancies and lack of accountability. 11. Split the Immigration and Naturalization Service into two agencies: one to protect the border and interior, the other to deal with naturalization. 12. Signed the workplace verification bill to prevent hiring of illegal aliens. 13. Established a six-month deadline for processing immigration applications. 14. Information regarding nearly 100% of all containerized cargo is carefully screened by DHS before it arrives in the United States. Higher risk shipments are physically inspected for terrorist weapons and contraband prior to being released from the port of entry. Advanced technologies are being deployed to identify warning signs of chemical, biological, or radiological attacks. Since September 11, 2001, hundreds of thousands of first responders across America have been trained to recognize and respond to the effects of a WMD attack. Judiciary & Tort Reform 1. Is urging federal liability reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits. 2. Killed the liberal ABA's unconstitutional role in vetting federal judges. The Senate is supposed to advise and consent, not the ABA. 3. Is nominating strong, conservative judges to the judiciary. 4. Supports class action reform bill which limits lawyer fees so that more settlement money goes to victims. Politics 1. His leadership resulted in Republican gains in the House and Senate, solidifying Republican control of both houses of Congress and the presidency. 2. Signed an EO enforcing the Supreme Court's Beck decision regarding union dues being used for political campaigns against individual's wishes. Second Amendment 1. Ordered Attorney General Ashcroft to formally notify the Supreme Court that the OFFICIAL U.S. government position on the 2nd Amendment is that it supports INDIVIDUAL rights to own firearms, and is NOT a Leftist-imagined "collective" right. 2. Signed TWO bills into law that arm our pilots with handguns in the cockpit. 3. Currently pushing for full immunity from lawsuits for our national gun manufacturers. 4. *See Globalization & Internationalism. Traditional Values, Compassion & Volunteerism 1. Endorses and promotes "The Responsibility Era." President Bush often speaks of the necessity of personal responsibility and civic volunteerism. He said, "In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else — to one in which every single American understands that he or she is responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself." 2. Started the USA Freedom Corps, the most comprehensive clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities ever offered. For the first time in history, Americans can enter geographic information about where they want to get involved, such as state or zip code, as well as areas of interest ranging from education to the environment, and they can access volunteer opportunities offered by more than 50,000 organizations across the country and around the world. 3. Established the The White House Office and the Centers for the Faith-Based and Community Initiative — located in seven Federal agencies. The faith-based initiative supports the essential work of these important organizations. The goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support, and face fewer bureaucratic barriers. Work focuses on at-risk youth, ex-offenders, the homeless and hungry, substance abusers, those with HIV/AIDS, and welfare-to-work families. 4. The White House released a guidebook fully describing the Administration's belief that faith-based groups have a Constitutionally-protected right to maintain their religious identity through hiring — even when Federal funds are involved. 5. Issued an EO implementing the Supreme Court's Olmstead ruling, which requires moving disabled people from institutions to community-based facilities when possible. 6. Increased funding for low-interest loan programs to help people with disabilities purchase devices to assist them. 7. Revised the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 rent subsidies to disabled people, permitting them to use up to a year's worth of vouchers to finance down payments on homes. HUD has started pilot programs in 11 states. 8. Committed US funds to purchase medicine for millions of men, women and children now suffering with AIDS in Africa. 9. Heeding the words of our own Declaration of Independence, the president laid out the non-negotiable demands of human dignity for all people everywhere. On January 29, 2002, he said, "No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity." As stated by the President, they are a virtual manifesto of conservative principles: Equal Justice Freedom of Speech Limited Government Power Private Property Rights Religious Tolerance Respect for Women Rule of Law
Where can you download Howard Sterns radio show for free? I would like to download episodes of howards radio show, they can even be old episodes... is there anywhere on the web to do so?
What do u think of this? This stunned me when i saw it i was seriously laughing(i like pokemon)? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sept. 1 - FREEHOLD IOWA- Landover Baptist Pastor, Ebeneezer Smith used a blowtorch and a sword Sunday morning to demonstrate that Pokemon games and toys are only sugar-coated instruments of the occult and evil. Earlier this week at Landover's Wednesday evening service, children's pastor Marty Richards told 714 kids ages 2 through 10 that Pokemon is evil and was sent to this planet under direct orders from Satan himself. To drive home his point, Richards burned Pokemon trading cards and video games with a blowtorch and skewered 14 plastic Pokemon action figures with a 40 inch broad sword. Richards then held the sword with all 14 pierced Pokemon figures over a charcoal grill. Richards' 5-year-old son tore the limbs and head off a Pokemon doll and spit on the dismembered carcass. During the demonstration, the children chanted: "Burn it. Burn it,'' and "Chop it up. Chop it up.'' "Kill them All!" Manufacturers of the hugely popular Pokemon products, including Nintendo and Hasbro Inc., lied openly about Pokemon's association with the occult. The national Christian Coalition told The Press on Friday that it fully agrees with Landover Baptist's stand against the ungodly toy industry. "Toy manufacturers are being guided by Satan's minions." One source stated, "Demons are instructing the Nintendo and Hasbro companies on how to corrupt a child's innocence and create a future army of junior Satanists that will one day rule the world!" "We agree with Pastor Ebeneezer, and The Landover Baptist Corporation,'' said William Barnes, a spokesman for the national Christian Coalition based in Virginia. "It's a policy issue, a church issue, and a national security issue. We know all about it. We currently fund over 15 campaigns against the Pokemon menace.'' Pokemon, (pronounced POH-kaymahn), is short for pocket demons. The Devil loving phenomenon began in Japan over 20 years ago. A young boy summoned an evil demon to kill his entire family because they wouldn't buy him a stick of chewing gum at the supermarket. The demon came, and brought with it, other pokemons who jumped into the parents mouths while they were sleeping, and lodged themselves in their tracheas, suffocating an entire family, and setting the boy free to steal their money and buy gum. "The whole idea behind Pokemon is to show a child that they can become a "powerful evil force, and they don't have to listen to their parents.'' Landover occult expert, Jonathan Edwards said. "Kids look for different Pokemon demons, find them and utilize their specific powers to create chaos in the home. It can be extremely violent, and the liberal media does not want anyone to know how many families have been torn apart since this menace began. The ultimate goal for a child is to collect them, and once they've collected all of them, they can have anything they wish for. In most cases, the child wishes for complete control over his entire family. The pokemons approach in the still of night, entering the parents mouths and lodging themselves in their tracheas until they suffocate. They then scurry off quietly and return to their masters bed. When authorities arrive, they are shocked to see no evidence of foul play. They observe only a smiling child, fast asleep, surrounded by stuffed animals and 'innocent little' Pokemons." Deacon Fred, one of 37 co-pastors of the 125,000-member, fundamentalist-baptist church, said that his "antenna went up" over a year ago. While driving with his kids, he heard them in the back seat talking about "Abra'' and "Cadabra,'' "A chill went down my spine, and a trickle of perspiration dribbled slowly down to the small of my back!" He pulled the car over, took the Pokemon action figures from his children, placed them on the road, got back into the car and backed over them "100 times, until there was nothing left but shards of plastic." The teary eyed children watched from the roadside. Pastor Deacon Fred said that he doesn't see why more unsaved folks don't see the Devil's hand in this. "Three of the Pokeman characters sprouts horns!" Another concern, he said, is that children exploring a Pokemon Web site can click to other games, including "Magic: the Gathering,'' a Satanic game similar to Dungeons and Dragons. "It's got fancy sugar coating on it, but, underneath, it's Hell's poison,'' Pastor Deacon Fred said. Focus on the Family, the Colorado Springs-based Christian organization whose messages reach as many as 5 million people weekly via radio broadcasts, has researched Pokemon, said David Wright , project coordinator the Youth Culture Department. "What we found, is so horrifying, and so schocking, it would drive an unsaved person to the brink of insanity! Godly Christians are the only ones who can see this Satanic attack, we don't expect sinners to understand our ongoing battle with principalities that are not of this world. We do however, expect them to take us very seriously, and to submit to our (God's) authority in destroying these little beasts before they make junior Satanists out of every child on the planet!" ok i went to that website and t creeped me out..to me it seemed kind of satanic i meaan they had an evil baby and a "make your own bible creature"
Will the Democrats screw it up again? From The Sunday TimesFebruary 3, 2008 Don’t screw up, Democrats, Barack Obama is your manAndrew Sullivan There comes a point in all primary campaigns when the ideological furore dies down a little, when the personality clashes recede, when the warring factions pause and the voters in each party ask themselves a simple question: who on earth can win this thing in November? Republicans are usually better at this. In the past, a defining mark of a conservative was a certain willingness to swallow a minor disagreement for the surpassing point of politics: the wielding of power. But recently, as Republicanism morphed into an ideology and then a personality cult and then a series of increasingly strained far-right litmus tests, conservatives seemed to be verging on the purism of the old left. Then, all of a sudden, in the wake of South Carolina, they took a look at the field, saw the enormous enthusiasm building behind Barack Obama and went for their strongest electable candidate: John McCain. Mitt Romney isn’t toast yet. And the talk radio circuit – long a fervent foe of McCain – is still spluttering revolt. Some leading far righters – Michelle Malkin, the mega-blogger, and the columnist Ann Coulter, the Paris Hilton of right wingery – have even said that they would rather back Hillary Clinton than McCain. The cascade of establishment endorsements that McCain has received in the past week will be hard to counter. The Republican governors of the big states, Florida, California and Texas, all endorsed the crusty Arizonan senator. Buoyed by soft early polls that show McCain beating both the Clintons and Obama in hypothetical match-ups, the right did what the right knows best. It closed ranks behind McCain and prayed for the Clintons to pave over the deep divisions within what’s left of the Republican party. Even now, such solidarity comes naturally to most of them. Obama gains ground on Clinton Nearly half the country is up for grabs in one of the most evenly matched encounters of its kind Right rallies to halt John McCain as he marches to Super Tuesday Bill and Hillary Clinton: the dynamics of a marriage Multimedia Full coverage: US elections Pictures: race for presidency Video: Clinton scores big in New Hampshire Background How the row over race turned into a beauty contest for the Democrats Republicans congregate in South Carolina Clinton: my teary moment won me New Hampshire But what of the Democrats? The two candidates can each make a case that he or she is the most electable. Senator Clinton has the advantage of having been on the national stage and seared into global consciousness for almost two decades. This familiarity lends an aura of authority, especially as she has had the imagery of the White House and the presidency behind her for eight years. It calms nerves among jittery Democrats worried about another narrow loss to a Republican. She is a creature of the past generation, which means to say she grew up developing scar tissue under conservative assault. In battle, you tend to respect the warrior with the most battered physique. She has endurance rather than experience. Nobody doubts her competence or eagerness for hard work. She also has the contacts and network of the most powerful brand in Democratic politics: the Clintons. If you are an insecure or not too clued-in Democrat, she reassures. If you are a working-class Democrat, you think she knows what she’s doing and you fondly recall the years when Bill was running the country. Her facility with policy helps to cement the idea of her as a competent representative. However, outside her core base of support, all this electability has a dark side with Clinton. She has extraordinary negatives. She galvanises the conservative movement in ways no other Democrat can. Against McCain, she and she alone enables the Republicans to forget their deep internal divisions and unite. Nothing – nothing – unites them as she does. The money she will raise for the Republicans is close to the amount they can raise for themselves. If you’re a hard-nosed Democrat, especially in a state that leans Republican or that voted for Bush, she is potentially toxic to your chances. No Democrat in Nebraska wants to counter an advertisement morphing his face with Hillary’s. Hence the endorsements Obama has secured: Janet Napolitano, Democratic governor of Arizona; Kathleen Sebelius, Democratic governor of Kansas; Claire McCaskill, Democratic senator from Missouri; Tim Kaine, Democratic governor of Virginia, and Ben Nelson, Democratic senator from Nebraska. What do all these states have in common? They are all states that George W Bush won twice. If you’re the next generation of Democrat, trying to appeal to the centre of the country, Obama is your candidate. Clinton takes the party and national politics back to the polarised red-blue ideological past. The danger of this is that if you are someone in the middle – on the purple edge of the red-blue divide – then the polarising nature of Clinton might mean that if she were the candidate you might vote Republican. Obama is the salve for this syndrome. The polling data are clear on this as well. Obama’s margins of victory over most Republican candidates are greater than Clinton’s. He is more liberal in some respects but he tends to be more liberal in those areas where the Democrats are strongest, primarily Iraq where his antiwar stance has resonance. On healthcare his plan is less coercive than Clinton’s. In the debate last Thursday in Hollywood, he subtly made the case that he could also be more credible in withdrawing troops from Iraq – since Republicans could not accuse him of having changed his position on the war, as they can with Clinton. He made his liberalism a positive in the electability wars, which is the first time that has happened in American politics since 1976. The winnowing of the field to two has oddly helped his electability. You could see it at the Clinton-Obama debate last week. Clinton did not do poorly. All her strengths were on show: the policy mastery, the gaffe-free talking points, the Clinton record in the 1990s. But that made his ease all the more impressive. Most crucial, Obama seemed like a president. In his body language he carefully upstaged her without looking as if he were trying. By the end of the debate he was pulling her chair back for her. If Obama’s main drawback in the electability game has until now been gravitas, he erased that gap in two short hours. Can it work? Can Obama win? I don’t know. Clinton is still a formidable candidate and her massive institutional advantage may eventually give her the nomination. Any objective observer would have to say she is still the favourite at this juncture. But she has not won this primary argument or this primary battle. If she becomes the nominee, it will be because she survived the primaries. Obama won them. The national polling keeps getting tighter. In every state where Obama has had a chance to be exposed to voters in real time, he has won. But the states up for grabs on Tuesday are big ones where retail salesmanship and organisation are not as powerful as name recognition. Obama has the money – in fact, he raised a staggering $32m in January alone, mostly in small sums from individual donations. He has the momentum: Gallup’s national poll shows Clinton’s lead evaporating in the past two weeks. Will Democratic voters realise that he is now their best bet against McCain or will inertia and fear keep Clinton alive? One thing I’ve learnt in American politics: never underestimate the capacity of the Democratic party to screw it up.
