Software for Web based Live Internet Radio? I was wondering if there are such software that can broadcast live radio through the internet and SHOULD BE PLAYABLE through any web browser using any popular plug ins such as flash or java. What is your Favorite AM/FM Radio talk Station? And Farthest you Picked up an AM station overnight? What is your favorite radio talk station? A few years ago I would of said AM, but now many talk are going into the FM band as well. Many stations broadcast at 50,000 watts overnight and can be heard from miles. This leads me to part two, of what is the farthest from your house that you got an AM station overnight? I'll start off. My favorite talk station is WBZ, 1030 AM out of Boston, Mass. During the day it's live News. After 5PM and weekends it goes to LIVE talk. Note it's ALWAYS LIVE overnight, even on holidays (christmas Eve, New Years Eve, etc.), and it's a 50,000 watt station that anyone East of the Rocky Mountains can pickup from sundown to sunrise (best using a digital tuning radio). I live in Penn. and get it clear from Boston overnight! Also you can listen online free at WBZ.com. Jordan Rich and Steve LaVelle are the usual overnight hosts (great). They talk everything from serious to "how to beat the heat." The farthest station I heard was from St. Louis. Also please add the state (or city if you feel comfortable) you're in and especially say the location of the station you get/hear.

Trouble streaming on PC with Windows Media Player? For three years now I have been streaming the same radio station at my desk every morning. It's local here in Phoenix, AZ. 98 Kupd. Starting this past Monday the media player read "couldn't connect to server" after 30 seconds or so of attempting to connect. I work in a corporate office and a lot of sites are blocked or restricted HOWEVER I have never had a problem with this site in the past. I've tried various websites checking to see if they possibly stream through itunes, but to no avail. The media player is updated to Windows Media 11 and as I stated before, worked fine until Monday. I've gone through troubleshooting, but nothing seems to rectify the situation. Any suggestions/tips/hints/alternatives? I've also attempted to download an app on my droid 2 global to stream FM radio live, but can't seem to get my hands on one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The thing is the website works fine. The player even opens and tries to connect. Can they block the streaming of the site?

What is the best way to get Satellite radio for me? I drive a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with a Kenwood in-dash stereo system. It is capable of playing wma/mp3 files from a USB drive, along with basic AM/FM radio and CD player. I don't want to change this device, but I want to listen to satellite radio programs in my car. It says "Sirius ready" and "HD ready" on it, but I'm not sure what that means. I'm not picky about the carrier of satellite radio, and it doesn't have to be *live* satellite radio -- I'm not opposed to downloading things from my computer at home onto my USB drive and listening to them later in the car, but I don't know if that's possible or convenient. Does anyone out there have experience with some products and/or services that they might be able to recommend that would fit well into my setup? I'd like to know what you think is the most cost-effective. One more thing, if it involves a portable receiver with an FM transmitter, that transmitter MUST be digital and I'd like to know that it works decently. I don't have something I can plug a headphone jack into (as much as I would like that, I don't want to spend the money on a new stereo system just for that) so if I were to use this capability I would need to be able to download mp3 or wma files for radio programs in order to play them in my car.
Getting better reception out of my ol' transistor radio? Help? I have a Holiday AM/FM transistor radio. I live in Ottawa and am trying to get a reception from an AM radio station in Toronto. Sometimes I am able to get it (only at night), but most of the time it fades out really quickly and then I have to find it again.. after a while it gets quite frustrating. At the moment, there is a coat hanger taped to the antenna, with a piece of tin foil attached to that, pointing up. There is also a small (1 cm high) key chain attached to the coat hanger - when the singal fades, it sometimes comes back when i tap this little trinket. Without all that, there is no signal what-so-ever. What can I do to get a better reception?

Crazy Long-Distance FM Radio Signal...How Could It Happen? Yesterday, a friend of mine was driving home from work at 5 PM, scanning his radio for a good station to listen to. He was searching for 101.5 FM, a local station, when his radio scanner stopped at 101.3 FM. However, this 101.3 FM is entirely different from the 101.5 FM we have: different format and all. This new 101.3 FM was coming over the air as clear as a bell for about a 10 mile radius. Once he got to a certain point, the signal completely went to static. Now, here's where it gets crazy. We live in Southwest Virginia. This radio station identified itself as C101 ROCKS! This radio station is in Corpus Christi, TX. That's a good 1400 miles away. Also, my friend swears he heard a commercial advertising their 4 PM drive home. Now, we're in EDT in VA, they're in CDT in TX. 5 PM for us, 4 PM for them. It matches up. Now, I have a working knowledge of how FM and AM waves work. And FM waves aren't supposed to have but about 1/20 of that range at the absolute most. So my question is this: how on earth could he pick up that radio station from TX, when we're in VA?

How can I disrupt AM/FM radio? I have a noisy neighbor who plays his radio loudly on religious talk radio day and night. I live in a old house that has been cut up in apartments and I can hear his radio during the night and it keeps me up. I have complained to him, but he'll turn it down for an hour, then it's right back up loud. I complained to the landlord, and he asked him to stop playing loudly at night, but it continues. I have tried flipping his breaker, but the radio comes back on when I turn it back on. I can't leave the breaker off because it also supplies my hot water. There is one electrical outlet that is connected to his box I have access to. I have tried running a paper-shredder in that outlet (it produces interference on my TV, so I think it may interfere with his radio) but it is too loud to keep on so I can sleep. I'm almost sure the station he plays night and day is AM, so I can't disrupt it with my FM transmitter that I have to play an mp3 player in my car. I have called the police, but because it's a multi-family dwelling so noise ordinances do not apply with the house. HELP! I have to wear earplugs to bed and that only muffles it. How can I eliminate my problem with out breaking the law?

Why is the FM reception so bad on my radio? Its like a sony Boombox I have in my living room, I just recently bought it. The AM radio works pretty good on it but the FM is terrible. Nano (16GB) or refurbished iPod Classic (120GB)? Nano has - Pedometer - FM Radio with live pause etc. - Videocam Classic has - 120GB memory I like the Nano design better and love the radio application, but the Classic has a much bigger capacity and is selling at only $10 more where I live, and I want to make the most of my purchase. Also I don't want to end up buying another iPod in the near future if the memory runs out. (I have about 1000 songs now). So which one?!
Is there not as much new rock on the radio? (Compared to pop/hip-hop/country)? Now I'm not saying there is no new rock on the radio. And I know there a lot of rock bands that aren't on the radio But where I live and the radio stations I get I have noticed there are far less recent songs (meaning 2008/2009) on my 'current' rock station compared to the current stations for different genres. I also feel like there less new rock played then there was a few years ago but can't say that with certainty And I'm talking about generic FM radio I've been conscious of this for about a year Now my rock station did change it's style about 2-3 years ago and start playing a lot more 90's rock too. (which isn't a bad thing). But I still feel like there should be more recent songs that are popular enough to play. I was curious if other people noticed this in different parts of the country with different stations or if it's just here. Or maybe it's just me Has it been like this for a while and I'm just now noticing. Any thoughts or opinions as to why. I wasn't complaining. In some ways it's kind of cool that the rock I like is underground. Though yes I wish success on them, and radio should play more alt. rock I was asking if anyone noticed less mainstream rock And thank you for your answers but none were all that great so I'm sending it to vote
Do you like FM radio, or do you think it's becoming obsolete? I am a big fan of FM radio stations. But then again, my musical interest is more mainstream. I usually listen to adult contemporary/soft rock, Top 40, and smooth jazz stations. I live in a decent-sized city with enough choices of radio stations, and I don't have any interest in XM radio. Best FM Radio for distant stations? I live in a remote mountain location and thought that I couldn't pick up my favorite FM stations. While driving a Ford Ranger with the standard FM radio, I was surprised that I can pick them up pretty well, but only with the radio in the vehicle. Who makes a portable (or componant stereo type) radio with equal qualities for reception? I'm willing to spend $150 or so if it works. I'm guessing that the external antenna has a lot to do with it, so the capability of connecting to an antenna would be great.

Watch TV and playing FM radio on HP Pavilion Elite I have a HP Pavilion Elite (m9260f) which has a built-in TV tuner card. According to the document came with the computer, I can watch a live TV program and play FM radion one at a time. Even if I set up TV signal and was able to watch a live TV with an indoor antenna, I have not been able to play FM radio. Whenever I tried to play FM radio, the FM Radio Setup Window poped up with the message "Before using FM Radio, the radio tuner must be set up. To set up the radio tuner, you must go through TV tuner setup." Of course, I went through TV tuner setup numerous times. When I set up TV tuner, the TV signal configuration result was "1 tuner detected and configured. Additional tuners were detected but will not be configured because either they do not have a matching TV signal or any TV signal at all." Remember I have neither cable nor satellite service. I have been in contact with HP technical support last three months without much success. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
